### 2/5 — A drum machine is only as good as its sequencer

*2026-05-17, version 2.5.3*

…heard it somewhere and fully agree with the statement. And the sequencer here is too basic - pretty much killing anything good in this app. Only giving it 2 stars for the effort. Almost like the dev never had a good drum mashing in his hands… a real disappointment considering the reviews.

### 4/5 — Externe MIDI Clock

*2025-12-14*

Merci d’avance

### 4/5 — Nice app but need some update

*2025-09-01*

-midi learning on effects should be added
-It's frustrating that the instrument mute only affect the playing pattern. how can i mute my kick when i'm in song mode for example. it's bad for live performance.
- a real velocity should be added because when affecting velocity to volume, its not possible to adjust volume anymore. the velocity should be leveling up or down on top of an adjustable volume instead of "being the volume itself". Its actually the same for all settings but i find it specially frustrating on the volume.

Thank you and have a nice day :)
Romain - a friendly user who wanna get the best from your app

**Developer response:** Will get fixed with the next update

### 3/5 — No auv3 support

*2025-03-10, version 2.5.2*

It seems cool but it is not an auv3. Inter-App Audio is problematic

### 3/5 — Oliver - AUv3 pleeeeeeeeease! 😿

*2025-01-10, version 2.5.1*

Want to use it more but prefer the state recall and other features of AUv3 over IAA (and because the world forgets about IAA a little more every day.)

### 3/5 — Improper sequencer sync, with Elas. in 3/4. :(

*2024-11-26, version 2.4.9*

I’ve tried everywhere just now to get through to mominstruments.com and I continually receive a 502 Bad Gateway notification. 🤨

Earlier today, I tried to set up 8 x patterns. 7 were each a variance on the 1st pattern. All 8 patterns were in the time signature of 3/4, so that I could have a nice blues feel drums rhythm, to jam with.

Connected to AUM through the non-AUM connection, Elastic wiuld not sync with any sequencer inside of AUM, with both running in the 3/4 time signature.

The normal 4/4 time signature that (it seems) most of everyone else is working with - syncs beautifully, of course.

I really hope that this bug can be fixed as Slastic after only a couple of hours working with is easily, one of tge coolest that I’ve played with in my 39 years of sequencing.

### 4/5 — Great for making sounds and iterating, a little limited for adding variation

*2024-10-16*

This is one of my favorite grooveboxes, hardware or not, for the process of making variations on sounds and patterns. It’s super easy to make copies of things, so if you’re the kind of musician who’s always thinking “what if I did it that way instead?” you can really quickly build up a set of variations on a loop. Then you can instantaneously switch not just between patterns, but entire projects if you want while performing. (Also, each pattern in a project file can have a different sound set.). If only DAWs made it that easy to play live!

The area I find this lacking is features that most hardware or software gives you to add variation to a sound, like LFOs or conditional triggers. You can record automation, but it’s always synced to the pattern, so it’s gonna sound like a loop. And there is a performance effects section with beat repeaters, stutters, and things like that, but it feels more intended for doing a flashy breakdown, not something that can keep on running on its own and add some life. There are some ways you can get around this, like make 2 copies of a track and set them to different lengths, but that will only get you so far, and then you’ve already used up 2 out of 6 tracks. So unfortunately it feels a little limited depending on what type of music/performance you’re into.

If they added LFOs and made a desktop version I could probably get lost in this for a couple years though. It’s dead simple but the sounds are super nice and the workflow is just that great.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t sound right on Bluetooth headphones

*2024-10-16, version 2.4.9*

Using my AirPods, it sounds horrible. This is the same issue reported by others 4 years ago I believe. Hopefully this can be fixed - holding on buying devs other apps - I need to be able to use air pods in a pinch for iOS apps to make sense

### 4/5 — Bis dato alles schick, „außer“…

*2024-05-13*

### 4/5 — Versatile but missing auv3 support

*2024-04-06, version 2.4.8*

Great app with lots of fun sound design tools but boy is it hard to get audio from this in 2024 without auv3 support. Sure, I could AUM or Audiobus it, but given its sister app has this features and is at the same price point, it would be a welcomed quality of life improvement.

### 4/5 — A world of possibilities; needs AUv3 though.

*2023-11-15*

There’s nothing else out there that comes close to Elastic as a total package; one could easily compose entire tunes with nothing else, and I often find myself wishing other apps had just a few of the features it boasts.

However… While I know there are workarounds, the lack of AUv3 integration in a world that forgets IAA a little more every year - especially in terms of hosting DAWs - means that it gets used less and less all the time in favor of other apps and combinations thereof. Developer: PLEASE don’t let this one fall into obsolescence.

### 5/5 — I love the Elastic apps

*2023-11-13*

I have been using elastic drums from day one, and I love it still. I really enjoy the workflow and design, it’s very appropriate for the way I think about some drum sound design. I do have a problem for the past couple of years though, inter app audio is not very consistent, buggy, crashes and generally does not play nice with Cubasis (which I use about 99% of the time). It’s not a elastic drums issue, it’s an inter app audio issue. It happens with all other apps that use inter app audio. I’m at the point that I just won’t use apps that only use inter app audio. I would love to dive back into using elastic drums, but every single time I use elastic drums I have a crash before I get to render anything. This may have something to do with the fact that I really push the cpu on my mixes, but with AU3’s I generally don’t loose much data when I have a crash, and with au3’s crashes happen way less frequently. Freezing tracks with inter app audio doesn’t help, and I try simply rendering elastic drums tracks outside of using cubasis, but it makes it difficult to easily make changes to a things if I have to render, export and then import for each and every change. It’s a big hassle that kind of gets in the way of using the app/flow. Again I don’t think it has anything to do with the way the app is made. Elastic apps are rock solid. Inter app audio is not rock solid and really is making its way out. Hopefully other developers will see this and convert their apps to au3 primarily.

### 3/5 — Great, but I’d use it more if it had auv3

*2023-11-13, version 2.4.7*

I enjoyed this a lot when it came out, but it fell to the wayside when I started using Aum and DAWs.
I just bought the new plugin from the developer, I’m hoping that since that is auv3, this one may become auv3 too.

I’d still say its worth the money without it, its unique and fun.

### 4/5 — Needs AUV3!

*2023-11-12, version 2.4.7*

This app is and always has been stunningly innovative - just brilliant. Please please develop for AUV3 as this would be FANTASTIC. Don’t mind paying for an update!

### 5/5 — Brilliant app. Great support.

*2023-10-18, version 2.4.7*

Fantastic app for ease of use and pure inspiration as well as professional features when you need to export / mixdown. The Dev is also extremely responsive. One of my favourite Groovebox apps by one of my favourite developers.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Years of waiting for AUv3… Nothing.

*2025-07-17, version 2.5.2*

And if it gets released as a new version with a new price tag AFTER all this I’m gonna be livid, no lie.

### 1/5 — Requested refund

*2024-12-25*

Audio distortion issues, that I see mentioned in the forums on the Internet for well over a year, still not fixed despite the last update. Not good sign for the user experience on this app. It’s a shame because the app looks very interesting.

**Developer response:** Should be fixed now, please update

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2024-11-13, version 2.4.9*

Unusable on iPad 18.1 the timing of the loop is miles off. What the hell? Fundamental function of a drum machine is to keep time.

### 1/5 — Never works.

*2024-02-10, version 2.4.7*

Every time I open this app, it doesn’t play. Not on the ipad or iphone. Always have to erase it & redownload it to get it to work properly.

### 1/5 — Unusable. Does not work with 9 gen Ipad

*2023-03-31*

I would like my money back. While trying to use this app, standalone, upon opening, it immediately creates microphone feedback. No microphone settings, anywhere within the app that I can find so I’m not sure why this is happening. And when I try using as audio unit extension within Cubasis3 or AUM, elastic drums interface blows up to an unusable size and then becomes unsizable and unmovable. I cannot scroll around, and I cannot shrink the screen, and I cannot get elastic drums interface it to fit in the window, no matter what size the window is (minimized or maximized)

**Developer response:** We are sorry about that. You can give the app back in between 14 day via Apple Store. Otherwise please contact us via ed@mominstruments.com.
About the microphone feedback, another user reported that and the solution was. When deleting and reinstalling the app, disallow mic usage. Then in the device settings -> ElasticDrums, re-allow the microphone settings

### 1/5 — Was great, now no sound

*2023-03-23, version 2.4.7*

Loved this app, bought all the new sounds. Was working great, but now no sounds what so ever. Just a non stop loud hum. Even after I deleted it and reinstalled. Still no sound just a loud hum. 3-22-2023.

### 1/5 — nicht gut

*2021-05-04*

### 1/5 — The money Grab...

*2021-03-10*

Well, I am not as upset as I was the other day. I probably won’t take to social media and flay you in public. Probably. So, the main reason I bought you drum app in the first place was the abilty to upload my own samples. After almost two years, you think I should pay for it now? No, no. Not right. Not right at all. Add to that, you took all the presets and your charging for then now? Where did you hear that tha was ok?

I would like a answer as to why you did this to your loyal users. I want to know the details, because from where I am standing you have some explaining to do. Luckily I don’t need your app anymore. Importing your own sounds/samples is pretty much stock these days in most drum machines or Daws. This leaves me with a really bad taste in my mouth.

**Developer response:** Hi, I think you misunderstood some things.
There is nothing you have to pay now extra with the update:

- All extra presets are for FREE download, now and for all eternity (price: 0.00$)
- If you purchased the sample import option 2 years ago, it will still be there. You might to restore (which is free), if you are on another device, otherwise it should just work right away.

The reason to thin aus the presets is only to make the size of the app smaller. Some people like many presets, some don't. So now you have the option to quickly download the app and if you want more presets you can just download them for free (via the InApp Purchase).

### 1/5 — buggy and outdated

*2021-02-27, version 2.3*

seems to be broken on iOS 14, all presets produce crackling sound

### 1/5 — It was great but new issue with audio engine

*2020-09-12*

So normally this is a 5 star app, but lately the audio on the low end has a weird... Buffer/busted speaker like sound to it. I thought at first because the phone speaker or the pattern, but I've experienced this with multiple headphones and patterns I've had for a long time that didn't have that sound before. I tried messing with audio buffer rate but this didn't help. Tried using digitakt as my USB audio card and does not sound any better. I don't have this issue with any other music app or anything else.

I'll be happy to give this 5 stars when fixed but I really need the Dev to check this out in case others might have the issue. This would be my favorite app again.

**Developer response:** Hi, I am sorry to hear this. Can you describe your problems to our support email?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Masterpiece

*2026-06-05, version 2.5.3*

Elastic stuff rules.

### 5/5 — Please make this auv3

*2025-08-17, version 2.5.3*

Very good, very flexible. Bought it but didn’t realise it wasn’t auv3. Keeping it anyway (even though I use Drambo).
Please make this auv3

### 5/5 — Goes WAY Beyond Just a Drum Machine!

*2025-08-09*

...it is a 6-channel, multi-timbral sequencer/synthesizer employing several different synthesis methods: samples, FM, granular, et. and each method provides deep control over several sonic parameters including panning and FX levels and all of them can be automated in real time! And speaking of effects, it comes with a plethora of effects ranging from reverbs to filters, phasers, chorus, flanger, echos, reverse pitch and more. If that is not enough, a "Jam" page allows you to perform on this instrument with several unique interactions with the individual tracks and sounds live, This is not a drum machine but a new kind of electronic instrument that can be used as a drum machine if you want. But it goes way beyond that!

### 5/5 — Tried, tested, trusted drum machining

*2025-06-03, version 2.5.2*

This is another of Oliver’s standout apps, with a solid pedigree having been auspiced by everybody’s favorite Audiodidactic Duo Mouse on Mars. Excellent updates, midi integration, sample handling, drum synthesis and those FX! Just take you’re.f to flavor country and buy with confidence

### 5/5 — Kicks are distorted

*2025-01-11, version 2.5.1*

Updated: most recent update fixed this. Updated my review to five stars!

Kicks sound distorted. All fx are off. I’ve deleted the app, reinstalled. Tried on iPhone 15 and iPad mini 6th gen. Love to give it a higher rating but it’s unusable at present

### 5/5 — Inspiration

*2024-10-09*

Every time I come back to this app, I am utterly inspired and feel silly for not having used it daily. Like any synth you have to practice the workflow to really get the best out of it, but most everything here is logical/rational/user friendly. And it sounds amazing and the automation is brilliant. Totally relevant in 2024 and, for synthetic drums of all styles, always will be.

### 5/5 — the best?

*2024-07-07, version 2.4.9*

If you enjoy cooking up beat based mayhem then not much comes close to Elastic Drums. So deep yet accessible with it. I’ve not had it very long but expect to be using it for many years to come. The attention to detail in every part betrays years of development and steady perfectionism, leading to a very complete instrument. We are lucky as musicians to have such amazing tools at such affordable prices. My only wish would be to be able to record stems WITH the effects on. Cheers for the app

### 5/5 — One of the best! Ideas for improvement

*2024-05-03*

Hello. I love this app. Its flexible, fun to play, and a powerful musical tool.

The main thing i think could be reworked is in the arrange section/song mode/chaining

If these areas were improved this app would be the perfect drum solution for me.

Ideas for improvement:

Either Multiple looped sections rather than the one main loop which can change length by multiples of 4.

Or the Ability to chain sequence loops together manually. Look to the keystep pro chaining for inspiration.

Either of these would create a far more useable drum solution for multiple use cases. (Ie. Live)

Also

Setting to queue patterns rather than change instantly where playback is at could also aid in live performance settings. Maybe long press functionality…?

### 5/5 — Stellar.

*2024-04-03, version 2.4.8*

While there are numerous drum machine apps - this one is spectacular.
If sound options ranging from sample to various types of synthesis, to independent beat cycle lengths doesnt grab your attention, surely the ability to perform the playback switching in real-time will!
There’s plenty more fun to be had here.

### 5/5 — Presets lost

*2024-02-13*

Hi

I love this app.
I purchased several kits, after changing my iPad, I can’t restore these. Can you help?
