## Newest reviews (15 of 51)

### 2/5 — Duplicates

*2025-11-27, version 1.0*

The app has constant duplicates of stories and clicking on one shows a different story.

### 3/5 — Pretty good

*2025-11-20*

Content is good but often the link to the full article takes you to a different article and you never get the information.

### 2/5 — Full Screen Blackness

*2025-09-05*

As the previous review mentioned, the app at times becomes pretty much unusable due to it unceasingly launching a full screen video advertisement (which starts off black). You can swipe it away, only for it to come back again and again after few second each time. Infuriating. If this isn’t fixed I will have to delete.

### 3/5 — No Font Size Option?

*2025-06-22*

Great app but with no ability to increase the font size inside of articles is very disappointing. This is a basic function, apps like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) have this option as a basic setting. Please add this feature because the default font size is small. Thank you

### 3/5 — Too many corrupt links

*2025-06-22*

This is a great app for articles of EV’s, environmentally friendly power generation, related (mostly US) government policy and a chance to comment on the article. However, it is constantly plagued with corrupt links to published articles . This is quite frustrating as many articles cannot be read unless you go to the website.

### 2/5 — Seems very bias

*2024-06-03*

It seems that every article that talks about Tesla is against Tesla. It’s starting to feel like another left leaning news outlet that hates Elon. There’s plenty to not like about him, or Tesla, but the bias seems consistent. Considering that without Elon, and Tesla, the overall conversation around electric vehicles wouldn’t have nearly the same validity and interest, at least on the timescale in which it has happened. You can read the articles and decide for yourself.

### 1/5 — Is this only a daytime app?

*2024-03-19, version 1.0*

Why does it stop working each night? No text shows each night, then works during the day. I love it when I can read it, which isn’t often currently.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t load content every night

*2023-10-15*

Each night the article text doesn’t load (just the ads for the article).

I’m kind of curious what’s going on. I’m picturing someone patting their back each morning with the fix (like rebooting a server), but doesn’t think to fix the underlying issue.

I’m a fan of the content and use it whenever the content loads.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2023-10-09*

Used to be great, now unreadable as huge amount of adds. Can’t read any articles now so pointless.

### 1/5 — Just a blank screen

*2023-04-28*

And submitting feedback doesn’t even work

### 1/5 — App no longer works

*2023-04-27, version 1.0*

App no longer works. Are they trying to squeeze us into buying premium?

### 3/5 — Reader's comments unavailable

*2023-04-01, version 1.0*

For going on 2 to 3 months the reader's comments section is totally hosed--all you get is a few lines of error code. Really? How tough can this be to fix? Ridiculous!

### 3/5 — Reader's comments unavailable

*2023-02-07, version 1.0*

### 2/5 — Error message to view any comments

*2022-12-15*

I used to truly enjoy the Electrek app however for some unknown reason I am now receiving error messages when attempting to review comments. I’ve tried sending feedback to Electrek to no avail nor any acknowledgment whatsoever unfortunately.

### 1/5 — Website and app not working

*2022-11-17, version 1.0*

Last update the app started displaying each single word

about

                     inch down after

scrolling and then kept crazy formatting for all articles?

As example…Etc…?!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Adware is horrible Don’t Install this app

*2026-06-24*

There are adds that take over your phone and you can’t get out of them. Until these are removed by the Electrek team DO NOT download this Trojan horse app. Do not support their website until this is fixed.

### 1/5 — Ads Auto Run

*2026-03-26, version 1.0*

Ads start running without user input causing the screen to go black. Very annoying

### 1/5 — Opinionated ‘news’

*2026-02-20, version 1.0*

Once upon a time it was a news outlet, now a bash on anything Tesla.

### 1/5 — Anti Tesla rhetoric

*2025-11-30*

The most left wing, anti Tesla rhetoric, given weekly, by your host Fred Lambert.
It is amusing to listen to how often Fred and Seth actually mock Tesla on a weekly basis without fail.
Quite an embarrassing display of contempt for Tesla, considering without Tesla news, the show would be about 5 minutes in length.
An insult to the EV community…

### 1/5 — Too many video ads

*2025-09-29, version 1.0*

The free version became unusable! You open any article and in 5 seconds there’s a full screen video without clicking anything. Disrespectful

### 1/5 — Great site. Terrible App.

*2025-08-24*

I love Electrek so this review is nothing against their content. But the app is terrible. It constantly opens ads in full screen and won’t let me actually read the articles and makes it not only a bad user experience but also just unusable.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-04-06*

Inaccurate news and buggy app.

### 1/5 — Foolish vendetta

*2024-12-22*

Your personal bias towards Tesla works you.

### 1/5 — glitches glitches glitches

*2024-11-10*

the news this app provides is priceless. love the solar, battery, and ev news. but i had to delete the app from my iphone 14 max pro. it’s too laborious to read anymore. every time an advertisement tries to load, the story is lost, story goes black, advertisement survives. it takes 3-4 times to close the story and open it back up before you can read the entire story. so frustrating, and it’s not getting fixed. this has been going on for over a year. goodbye electrek

### 1/5 — Home of Tesla haters

*2024-10-13*

Contributors seem to constantly rant about Tesla while speaking highly of companies who ship very small volumes of actual products. They’ve lost their way in terms of objectivity. Sad as I’ve followed the site for many many years.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best EV news site

*2025-01-28, version 1.0*

All the news and faster than traditional outlets. Writers are all experts and good at this.

### 5/5 — Emran wooderson

*2023-11-11*

Best Buy

### 5/5 — EV’s

*2023-09-03*

Great source of news about EV’s, electric bikes and other cool stuff. Absolutely necessary if you want to keep up with what’s going on in the EV market. MSM news articles have generally been terrible or worse because they don’t understand or care about EV’s. Electrek is more of a “just the facts mam” source with insight and considered observation.

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2023-05-12*

No problems except when my iPhone was in Dark mode. Good info!

### 5/5 — EV’s

### 5/5 — Server errors - updated

*2022-08-19*

The articles are good (save Fred's frequent grammatical errors [update 8/22] I think Fred has been getting things proofread before posting), the content is relevant and is nearly always published here before elsewhere. However, I get server errors half of the time when opening the app. I can either read it on a web browser or on the app, and the web browser doesn't have trouble loading. I'm paying for the premium version because I want to support the writing, but the technical issues are too annoying to keep using the app. I'll happily update the review when the issues are resolved, but based on other feedback from months ago, I'm not holding my breath. [Update 8/22] I haven't had any server errors in months, so looks like whatever it was got patched. I'm now very satisfied with the overall experience.

### 5/5 — Great site!

*2022-07-27*

Always lots of great, interesting articles on EV vehicles and related renewable energy that are hard to find elsewhere. Down to earth, factual writing with new articles every day. An excellent source of information.

### 5/5 — Best app

*2022-07-26*

Best app for all things ev. Would be nice to be able to log in for comments via App store.

### 5/5 — Best site for EVs, solar, e-bikes, and climate related news.

*2021-09-20*

I receive regular digests in my email and check every posting. This site is outstanding. The app is also excellent. A must have for anyone working in or interested in EVs, solar, e-bikes, and climate related news!

### 5/5 — Five stars

*2021-04-17, version 1.0*

More fun
