## What is Electrical Troubleshooter?

This app is a simple utility/game for learning electrical troubleshooting with a voltmeter. A voltmeter is one of the most valuable tools that an electrical troubleshooter can use. This is because most electrical problems are loose connection (open circuits), shorted devices or operator errors (no electrical problems). There are ten circuits in each game. Each circuit consist of an "Open", "Short" or "NoProblem".

Solve the problems of the ten circuits with the fewest number of tries and shortest amount of time. If you do well, you receive the prestigious certification of a "5 Star Troubleshooter".

Are you a 5 Star Electrical Troubleshooter?

## Key features

- Voltmeter simulation for electrical troubleshooting
- Ten circuits per game
- Circuit types: Open, Short, No Problem
- Minimize tries and time to solve
- Earn "5 Star Troubleshooter" certification

### 1/5 — The developers have no real understanding of electricity

*2022-12-16*

I’m a professional electrical maintenance tech. Reading full voltage across a good resistor is fundamentally wrong. Using e=ir…. The first equation anyone learns pertaining to electricity….. is seemingly not used. Great job skippy

**Developer response:** I have not responded to this review and thought I would just let it go. But, after a couple of years of no other reviews, I thought maybe I should. "anactualelectrican" is correct that there is always a voltage across a resistor, WHEN current is FLOWING through it (e = ir or Voltage equals CURRENT multiplied by Resistance). But, there are times when a resistor overheats and develops an open circuit within the resistor, in which the value of the resistance becomes extremely high or infinite. And in that case, all of the circuit voltage is dropped across the open resistor. A large percentage of sucessful electrical circuit troubleshooting results being able to use a voltmeter to find shorts or opens in the circuits. That is the purpose of this simple, but effective app. David

### 1/5 — Not learning material

*2021-10-06*

This game isn’t realistic to even begin to teach the fundamentals of electrical troubleshooting. I’ve trouble shot so many different issues that aren’t even related to any of these causes. So to say it’s educational will end up hurting someone or possibly taking their life because they thought this game gave them the knowledge to do it. Worst game to learn ever

**Developer response:** I totally agree with you. Anyone working on energized circuits, needs a thorough understanding of the relationships of voltage levels, arc flash, insulators and grounding to prevent a serious injury or even death. This app is designed to teach a person how to find the most common types of problems (a loose connection, a shorted component or a broken wire) that prevents a control device from working properly. This app is not intended to teach the dangers of electricity, but rather how to use a voltmeter.

### 5/5 — Great free app that does what it says

Great refresher

**Developer response:** April 23, 2021 Update:
A new Electrical Troubleshooting app has just been Released. The name of the app is "Electrical Troubleshooting MS". This app is a fun learning tool to become proficient in troubleshooting a three phase reversing motor stater that is controlled with a PLC. ------------------- Thanks for taking the time to provide positive feedback and a 5 star ratting!

### 5/5 — Perfect for early students!

*2019-10-02*

I have all my Basic Electricity students play this app after they learn series circuits and multimeter use. It is wonderful for drilling into their heads how to think about basic troubleshooting. After playing a few times, it becomes like a reflex when they see a wrong voltage reading. I love it!

### 5/5 — Great little trainer

I’m an instructor of industrial electrical maintenance/mechatronics. This is a great tool for a student or person that is familiar with voltage drop, short and how to use a multi meter. Just found it today. The series circuit is great... does it have parallel? No complaints, it’s a great app.

### 5/5 — Great electrical troubleshooting app 🔌⚡️

*2018-02-18*

I love how simple and friendly this app is. You can easily move the positive and negative leads on the voltmeter to trace where the fault is. I also enjoy the music playing and the positive reinforcement sound effects.

**Developer response:** Danni,

Thanks for your positive feedback and 5 star rating,

David
