The SOC (state of charge) is an idiotic limitation when one is paying! Don’t tell me about congestion because other locations - Fashion Island - is always congested but doesn’t have an SOC limit! 2. Some cars get different pricing at the same level of charge than I get! As a Member+ my price was about $8 for around 8% while the car next to me was charged about $5 for 80%! Is Electrify America stealing from us? ### 1/5 — Extremely Expensive *2026-08-02, version 7.34.0* Without a membership they are almost twice the price as other services. Will only use if I absolutely have no other choice. ### 1/5 — Ridiculous *2026-07-31, version 7.34.0* Removing the wallet function was one of the dumbest moves ever. Not just that, but they preauthorize you in $20 increments. It would be ok if it was like EVGo where they only preauthorize you $5 then give the $5 back at the end of the charging session. At least it’s not like some other companies that preauthorize you $50-$60 or more. I now have numerous fraud alerts and my cards have been repeatedly declined despite having funds on them (calling other transactions elsewhere “suspicious activity”). Before they started playing these games I never had any issues. The only reason I’ll use them is the gym I go to has Electrify America chargers and I can charge my car and work out at the same time. Otherwise, I will be sticking with EVGo ### 1/5 — New app ruined my network loyalty *2026-07-24, version 7.34.0* The updated payment process is awful and phone support is also awful. Used to be my preferred network but now avoid whenever possible. ### 1/5 — $20 holds… *2026-07-22, version 7.34.0* So if you attempt to start a session you will be charged $20 even if it that session doesn’t start. Every attempt you will be charged another $20 hold. Your new system is HORRIBLE!!! At the bare minimum you should have given people a choice to use your new system or still be able to fund the account with whatever amount. I will never use EA again until you reverse course and allow the funding of accounts. Horrible UI. Horrible UX. There is no way to make the statement disappear so the App is unusable. There goes your $20 for the next 3 to 5 business days and you have to add another $20!! Not in junk or any other folder, it just never comes. Multiple calls to customer service fail to resolve this. When I just pulled up to the charging station, it said it did not recognize my account, even though I have a balance on the account and have been an account holder for many years. The company needs to fix this problem so that when customers want to use their app to pay for a charging session, it doesn't deny access like this. ### 1/5 — Worst customer service *2026-07-11, version 7.34.0* Currently stuck at a charging station with 2% because NONE of their charging station at this location are working. I was told twice by two different “customer service workers” it was my card even though everyone here was having the same issue. After I changed the card it still wasn’t working for anyone and we were told if we leave are cars here they can be towed. They offered us a towing service that we would have to pay for if we chose to take the car somewhere else. When asked to speak to someone higher up I was told no one was available smh. The worse experience with these damn charging companies. And they charged $20 holding fee. ### 1/5 — Requires Phone Number *2026-07-10, version 7.34.0* This was the worst thing about ChargePoint but now they've brought it to this app/network ### 1/5 — Black screen *2026-07-10, version 7.34.0* I just opened the app to charge my Bolt and whatever they have updated just doesn’t run on my iPhone (15, iOS 26). Thank God there’s an EVgo station about 5 miles away. Its app works, and 95% of the time its chargers work too. Unlike EA. Only stopped here because there are a lot of shopping and food options nearby for our road trip break. ### 1/5 — Made the app even worse *2026-07-08, version 7.34.0* How was it possible?!? They made the app less intuitive, with fewer functions and less functional. I typically charge at home but need to charge while I was out. Since they did away with they charge a $20 temp hold for every time you charge making my monthly long distant trips far more expensive now. Not to mention if the charger gives you an error and won’t charge and you try again, there goes another $20 for the same attempt to charge. This app was the only thing that one card was ever used for. It literally cost more to charge here than gas would have cost. Electrify America is hands-down, the most expensive per kilowatt pricing and this time I decided to sign up for the $7/mo. membership, which is supposed to waive the $1 session fee and provide about a 25% discount. Started my charging session through the app, but noticed the screen was showing that I was still paying the full price plus the $1 session fee. I called Customer Service and they said that I was using a “private Electrify America station” in this very public parking lot and that the membership discount rates would not apply. Hung up the phone and immediately canceled my membership. There’s no need for this. I should be able to just pay for the service and leave anonymously without giving all my personal information and having to authenticate three times and or sign up for their stupid subscription, that I may or may not use.
