You’ll struggle to find an charging station that that not make you download the app just to find out it does not work with US numbers

No way to just pay with a card. Download a buggy app, undergo huge privacy invasion: phone, email, credit card, and ID number. All must be verified.

This is illegal under EU law.

The irony is in Bulgaria they probably build the stations with money they scammed from the EU
