I find it to be a good app for finding the lessons of the day and going directly to them, but there are several issues. 1st - if i am leading worship from the eCP, I really need to know the page numbers to tell the congregants who are following in the BCP. It would be helpful to be able to enlarge the print for my aging eyes. 2nd - I really like that the collect and lessons are given for the Lesser Feasts and Fasts days, but I would really like to have the background blurb for the saints given so I don’t have to bring along the hard copy to share the information if I’m leading a service for others. 3rd - in this last update, when you go to the lessons, or other prayers and return to the main service, it throws you back to the beginning of the service instead of returning you to the place you were, making you have to spend time finding your place again. ### 2/5 — Now Costs More, Now Does Less *2025-04-24, version 3.58* I purchased this years ago, and found that I needed to update it. Now it is a subscription that DOES NOT INCLUDE many important parts of the BCP. Think, for example, Ordination. Worse, when you are asked to pay for the missing portions via in-app purchases, the functionality does not work. I can’t seem to even get it to allow me to purchase the additional content. AND there is still a problem if you go to a book make and then back to the main page, it puts you back at the beginning instead of where you were. ### 3/5 — Could the calendar actually match how the BCP calendar works? *2023-06-14, version 3.58* Hello, I am grateful that this app exists. I wish it hadn’t shifted from the one time price to an annual subscription, but I made that shift. I would like for the app to have the correct information according to the BCP calendar, given that we are paying for the annual subscription. I keep hoping you’ll fix this, and I think I wrote about this before, but I’m writing again. When a major feast, such as St Barnabas, falls on a Sunday, please put the information for St Barnabas not on Sunday, but on the transferred day. I try to teach folks about the church calendar and the primacy of the Lord’s Day, and it would be great if this resource could mirror the calendar hierarchy described on pp. 15-18 of the BCP, and not confuse people. Thanks for listening and I hope you can fix this. ### 2/5 — Crashing *2023-02-15, version 3.58* I am a long term user of this app. However, recent versions are hanging on the Daily Office function; I have to reboot my phone to get Daily Office to open to the correct day. ### 2/5 — Leaving everything to others *2022-12-12, version 3.58* I agree with a previous reviewer that this used to be my go-to source for all things prayer book. Along with the inexplicable demand for a subscription came a design change that made it harder to use. But chiefly I note with Odin that the so-called Anglican tradition in North America had multiple functional daily prayer apps available for free and the Roman Catholics have a LOT of breviary-based apps available for free. It’s frustrating (and embarrassing) that I can’t find one integrated (with daily RCL readings) Episcopalian daily prayer app that is free. Just shameful. I understand copyright law, but Church Publishing is not doing the right thing here. ### 3/5 — Blank Page *2022-11-28, version 3.58* Frequently the pages for prayers are simply blank and I have to completely close the app to get the text back ### 1/5 — $10+ a year for something that you can find in the internet for free. *2022-11-19, version 3.57* Disappointing. Seems odd to charge folks an annual or monthly fee to access something (the BCP) that you can find easily with a quick google search. As regards to prayer/devotional use, this app is FAR less functional than both the Venite and/or Forward Day by Day apps — which are FREE. This is just another example of The Episcopal Church not understanding the way technology could be used to share the Good News. ### 4/5 — Please fix color theme for dark background *2022-09-15, version 3.52* The Dark Mode on iOS and this app no longer work together as of the latest version. Please check and fix. Otherwise a great app, very useful for parish ministry. ### 1/5 — Not worth it *2022-07-20, version 3.48* I bought this app several years ago and was happily using it for personal devotions as well as a pastoral care resource. Notice I said I paid for the app. Then CPG updated the app (it’s still BCP, so the content is the same) and posted that everyone must pay a subscription fee to use this going forward. I’m disappointed, and have also decided to use a different BCP app. ### 1/5 — Updates very in frequent *2022-06-17, version 3.48* It’s been over seven months since there’s been an update. There are numerous bugs especially regarding formatting issues. Having to pay for a subscription that never updates is really not worth it. The developer needs to get on board with acting on bug reports. ### 1/5 — Still looking? *2022-06-15, version 3.48* Every time I open the app, all it ever says is “Looking for your subscription “. I pay for a subscription, yet it never finds it. I’ve been writing emails and asking them to update it and they have not done anything!! Do you not waste your money! ### 1/5 — App doesn’t always load content *2025-04-15, version 3.58* Do not waste your time or money on this app. I am so sorry that I renewed this app. I cannot use it in church because 70% of the time it will not load the content. My internet is fine. They updated the app and started charging a subscription for what I already paid for. So I deleted the old version from my iPhone and downloaded the current version from the App Store. Since my license is current, I selected to continue using my license. When I opened eCP, I saw menu choices and a few things worked, but when I tried to view the Daily Office lectionary, a full screen of blue displayed Loading Day and that is where it is stuck. Here I am, the guy who defended the annual subscription fee, and I can’t get it to work anymore! And, of course, no reverting to 3.52 which worked mostly. I appreciate having it available on my iPhone but it crashes often and in order to use it I have to turn my phone off then reboot. This does not happen to any other app on my phone. Value low. *2024-05-09, version 3.58* All in favor of using the BCP. It is a treasure. But Moving to a subscription model with a high cost without providing added value is a terrible decision. Getting the BCP out to anyone and everyone who wants access ought to be a priority funded by the TEC. In addition, at this ongoing price point The eCP app should include access to authorized worship/prayer resources including LFF, lyrics Hymnal 1982 (as much as a possible with copyright), all EOW resources, and Weekday Eucharistic Lectionary, etc. ### 1/5 — No more! *2023-04-29, version 3.58* I bought the original version of the app several years ago. This used to be an occasional problem but now it happens every time. I find that by doing that first thing, I actually DO IT - rather than thinking I’ll find a quiet time soon. (Hint: I take a few pills in the morning as many of us do. The last of those is a vitamin B-12 lozenge which dissolves under the tongue. I read my Daily Office as the B-12 is absorbed — so my brain is being fed in two ways at the same time. I also use eCP in church to follow the readings. The small annual subscription fee is a nit! This is well worth the cost and we don’t really expect people to develop and maintain the service for nothing, do we? Highly recommended (in case you didn’t notice!) 👍 ### 5/5 — Newly revised. Easier to read and use. *2025-10-10, version 4.0.0* Opening my ECP today, I’m delighted with the changes. Scroll down for a clear and easy to use menu. This Priest so appreciates your app, especially on hospital calls. RESOLVED I updated my iPhone to iOS 18.1.1 and reloaded eCP by removing the app and then reloading it. It is easy to navigate and extremely helpful when I am called on a pastoral visit with little notice. ### 5/5 — I love it! *2021-06-09, version 3.22* In prayers for individuals and families, the noon prayer that includes Psalm 113 is missing one line: “From the rising of the sun to its going down *” I liked the previous one, but I really love this one. As in a Episcopal priest. It really meets my needs. It took a little time to get used to it. ### 5/5 — Great to see this app updated! *2021-04-03, version 3.14* Although I always found this app less impressive than the CofE’s Daily Prayer app, it was functional and I have used it almost daily for several years. It lets me grab a little prayer time wherever I can, and read along with the lectionary without much “business to find out what should be read” (to steal a phrase from Cranmer.) I thought it might have been abandoned, though! This latest update is very welcome, and although one never loves a new subscription charge, I’m happy to pay if it means this app continues to see improvements. ### 5/5 — UPDATE!! *2021-03-30, version 3.11* I’m still using it daily and I like the update, especially being able to change the type size. I wish that the catechism and other documents would be included. I found it very easy to navigate, so much nicer to use than my hard copy. I also love that it is fully down loaded to my iPAD as I am often traveling and have no internet connection. I really liked the use of color for the instructional part, easier than italics. There is a hyperlink from the Daily devotions instructional area, to the Office readings, for substitutions. I found it odd that the hyperlink was only within the instructional print and not at each of the headings "A Reading".
