It does not actually track elevation well. I do not recommend this app. ### 1/5 — Not working *2017-11-28* Basically it does not work. Waste of money. **Developer response:** Not sure why you would say that. I've logged hundreds of miles of hikes and bike rides since you posted this review. ### 1/5 — Not worth even $1.99 *2015-02-06* This App can't even tell you what elevation you have claimed or descended during a hike or ski. You can not get a reading unless you stop the tracking. If you hike a 1100ft peak and track starting at the trailhead returning to the same trailhead your elevation reading gained is ZERO! Duh! Who needs an app for that. It does not provide cumulative number of feet or meters actually climbed. Get a basic altimeter and do your own calculating. The app is a waste. **Developer response:** I think you're looking at the wrong fields. If you hike up 1100 feet and back, the app will show Total Climbing of 1100, Total Descending of 1100 and a Change of 0. Also, these values update whenever you move 10 meters; you don't have to stop the tracking to get a reading. ### 1/5 — Will not work *2014-07-24* Crashes while booting **Developer response:** This occasionally happens after an iOS update. I'm not aware of any current crashes. ### 1/5 — Doesn't seem to work at all *2013-05-15* Won't detect movement. Reported 11' Elevation change walking in my living room (but still did not detect I was moving) tested several times. No luck at all. IPhone 5 latest iOS release. **Developer response:** The app was not designed to track tiny indoor movements like walking in your living room. You'd have to use it on a real activity like hiking or biking to see how it works. ### 1/5 — $2 for this $2 for that *2012-06-22* If you want the full capabilities of this tracker you gotta pays for all kinds of "extras" What I want to know is which is better as a Data Source:GPS or NASA. **Developer response:** The app no longer uses in-app purchases. NASA data is generally more accurate than pure GPS data, but doesn't take into account some situations like crossing a high bridge. ### 2/5 — Beta... *2015-07-22* J'ai acheté cette appli car leur app Pebble me semblait plus poussé que ismoothrun, et elle avait l'air de remplir l'essentiel de mes besoins. Elle a certes de bonnes idées, et une appli pebble très jolie, mais 1/4h pour trouver ma ceinture cardio, des boutons dans les réglages d'accessoires qui ne font rien du tout, l'impossibilité de transférer vers des applis autres que mail les données alors que c'est donné dans la description, j'ai plus l'impression d'avoir acheter une version bêta qu'une version finale, or une beta, on ne paie pas pour l'avoir!! **Developer response:** If you see a problem, please contact us directly so we can look into it. ### 3/5 — Accurate to +/-20% in my area *2022-01-22* It’s a nice app, does what I was looking for however the data it uses is coarse grained and inaccurate in my area at least. I just walked a route that I know is about 250m of ascent and it credited 200m. At the main place where it has a problem on my test route I can stand at the bottom of the hill and look at the current elevation, then walk strenuously uphill about 15-20m and it says my current elevation is now about 2m lower than at the bottom of the hill. That spot was on my walk twice (out and back that takes in a small 40m valley that the app thinks is about 10) so would account for the 50m under-measurement of the walk, but if the app doesn’t report accurately unfortunately it’s not much good to me. Neither data source seems to improve the problem. Suggestion to the developer - maybe add barometer sensor fusion to improve accuracy? ### 3/5 — Good app, needs work *2014-02-04* App elevation if off by more than 100 feet. If I go up a mountain and back down it reports a elevation much higher than I started with. Doesn't truly support background app refresh. App constantly crashes or has to be reopened. Doesn't always track elevation and it would be able to use the up/down buttons on the Pebble to look at elevation gain, start/max elevation. Thanks, Mike **Developer response:** GPS elevation is not perfectly accurate; a variance of 100 feet compared to the height of a mountain sounds normal. I'm not aware of any problems with crashing or refreshing in the background. The Pebble buttons can be used to scroll through three screens of info. ### 4/5 — I like it *2024-02-18* My experience has been that this app Elevation correlates with Garmin and paper topo maps Better than Gaia or Strava. My primary use is for tracking heart rate. The other data is a bonus providing, speed & distance. Really useful when planning a backcountry ski route. I still rely on Gaia for where we are on the map/route, but find that Gaia Elevation stats very more widely. One request would be to provide the user with the ability to specify which fields are shown on the watch, you know drag the fields around in an order that focuses on my priorities. Still in all set up is very good!
