App rubbish? *2026-08-30, version 1.11.29* I want to love this app. In theory it’s great. Voices are great. The UI looks ok on face value… but the player constantly vanishes? Or the text vanishes? I want to subscribe but what is all of that about? ### 3/5 — Favorite app BUT *2026-08-26, version 1.11.29* This app is amazing, but every time I update it, the format changes. I like having the contents tab in the bottom right, and it just disappeared and there are several more steps to jump back to my spot. Also, every time I exit the app, my spot gets lost. Also, there is no place for me to input new pronunciation. Very glitchy! Now we’re stuck with sleep schedule and soundscapes, which are the 2 buttons I’ve never used. Search & contents are the ones I’d use, and selected when we had a choice. ### 3/5 — The New update interface is annoying *2026-08-22* The interface in the new update is very annoying because you can’t pause while the app is open you have to lock your phone and then you can pause. Also why can’t we access the chapter summary in the player ? It is very frustrating. Older hilarious bugs persist too, but largely good *2026-08-22* Edit: New bug in today’s update using latest iOS and app version on iPhone 14 Pro - where play controls and “back to current” disappear regularly and don’t come back via the usual methods like scrolling further up, exiting and re-entering book etc. Guys, you gotta get it together with the way voices handle extra letters. Like “Buuuuuut” or “Nooooooooo” or “Sooo” result in the most hilarious tone and length of spoken sounds. Also please create a rule that stops it mumbling completely random sounds when a new chapter starts with just a number or number written as a word. It sounds like another language but isn’t. Sometimes it even finishes the final sentence paragraph before a chapter where it says something like “EIGHT” followed by a character name on the next line in all caps as a subheading, then the body text for the chapter and it’ll go (joltingly loudly compared to the volume it’s been reading at) “AEEEAEEEAHHH” then make a whining sound for an obnoxiously long time then say the chapter number then whine a bit more then chop a part off the name, then start the paragraph and whine then go back to normal. It’d be comical if it wasn’t so disturbing. These examples are happening in all versions of Archer voice which is the only British English or Irish voice I can find that talks in a normal way and doesn’t suddenly go quiet like it’s been shut in a closet every few paragraphs. (Otherwise my favourite would be Cillian). But it seems to happen in all voices after a while. Both these things have been going on a month or two but I swear have gotten worse recently. Also please more British English and Irish conversational / faster speaking natural sounding voices! As an Australian I can’t stomach American sounding voices and the rest of the world agrees when it comes to English they just sound better and more intelligent. **Developer response:** We're sorry to hear about the bugs you're experiencing. Ich bezahle also für einen Inhalt, Zahlung über Apple erfolgt, aber kein Zugriff auf meinen Inhalt. Kundenservice nur auf Englisch, Gott sei Dank, kann ich das, für andere sicherlich sehr blöd. Ich habe mich über Apple registriert, also keine Mail angegeben und bekomme die Info , dass zu meiner Mail kein Account gefunden werden konnte und die Anfrage erst verifiziert werden muss, hää? Ich hoffe der Widerruf klappt wenigstens. Die Nutzung ist auch eher so la la, ich drücke dieses + von dem ich annehme, dass es meine gewünschten Inhalte irgendwo ablegt für später, aber bis auf das kostenlose sind die anderen nicht auffindbar. Download doesn’t work. Subscription cancellation is almost impossible to do (had to go to the website). Do not trust the reviews over 4 stars, they are bot reviews. Not to mention the company responds with “please reach out”. Well I have and no response. ### 1/5 — No Way To Contact ElevenReader *2026-08-23* I signed up for the 3 day trial. It seemed good but I wasn’t using the app. I canceled, and I was still charged $145.77. This company is dishonest and misleading. ### 1/5 — Do Not Get the “Free” Trial *2026-08-21, version 1.11.28* I downloaded the app and got the “Free” Trial. Eleven Reader sent me a notification that my trial was up in 1 day. I went to cancel the membership, and they would not let me delete my payment information. I signed out, and my card company notified me of a charge for $106.92 from ElevenLABS.IO. They declined the purchase and canceled my card, thankfully. I had to call and explain what happened, which I find sketchy on Eleven Reader’s part. I deleted my account immediately, and I will not ever use this app again. Zero Stars if that were an option. Do not recommend. ### 1/5 — BE CAREFUL, FRAUDULENT!!! *2026-08-20, version 1.11.27* Absolutely horrible customer service, offer a free trial and charge you for a year. Horrible horrible service ### 1/5 — SCAM *2026-08-19, version 1.11.27* I do NOT recommend this app for listening to audio books. They are a SCAM. I signed up for Ultra unlimited, but the time always runs out before you can finish a book. I purchased a “ten hour” pack with 4 hours left to my book, but with 41 minutes left to the book it stopped playing and said I needed to purchase more time again. HOW. Do the math! This happened to me twice. When you try to talk to support, they make it impossible to reach anyone except an AI bot and when I submitted a claim for help, it just gave me all these error messages saying I didn’t have an account. Again… how is this possible if I’ve actively been able to buy and listen to books? Obviously I have an account! But they won’t connect me with human support because they can’t “verify” my account so I can’t even ask for help. This app is a total scam. ### 1/5 — BE CAREFUL, FRAUDULENT!!! *2026-08-19, version 1.11.26* Absolutely horrible customer service as the app did not allow me to unsubscribe and subsequently charged me for a full year subscription. When I attempted to contact customer service, the chat was unhelpful and then the customer service team just failed to respond. The AI voices are actually good, though could still use some improvement, and the price for unlimited readings from hundreds of voices is very reasonable. After searching for a long time for good text to speech reader, this is the one I’d actually recommend to people who need one. ### 5/5 — Simply.
