It gives an error whenever you try recording more than two seconds worth (OSStatus error -12743). This happens if you save to the iPad directly or on an external device (both APFS and exFAT). If you do listen back to the no-more-than-two-seconds of a video that does save, there is no audio. The pass-through audio also doesn’t work. Setup asks you about audio input but that setting is not respected. I am trying to use it to record a live production session - I am producing on a M1 MacBook Air, i have the HD60s+, and an M1 iPad Pro. When I record a song, and then listen to the playback through the HD60S+ recording, it’s fine. When I attempt to record, using the HD60s+ an output source, Ableton Live 11 Suite crashes. Additionally, on the iPad Mini 6 gen, the dark mode is broken, all the elements on the screen are the wrong color. Also, it has the same issue as the iPad Pro. I would love to use it as an alternative to needing a second computer, but in it’s current state, I cannot use it. I will be waiting for the update ### 1/5 — Wasted a whole day recording *2023-10-18, version 1.0.0* Used this together with the Camlink 4k to record off site, but when I got back to review the footage, the frame rate was under 20fps. It should have been 30 FPS. I have allowed all permissions, and am unable to reliably record anything either to the local storage or an external drive. It seems that recording at 720p takes longer to crash than 1080p. I’ve verified my Security settings are set to allow all of this access, yet this still crashes. I bought it cause it said it could turn your iPad into a screen for your ps5. And it did! I swear to you it did! That’s the only thing I’m judging it by. Features mean nothing. Control schemes are meaningless. What matters is that I now use my iPad Pro 13 inch as a monitor for my ps5 and when I save footage from me owning kn3wbz in street fighter 6 it saves straight to my photos. Wii U), and my laptop isn’t capable at recording at 1080p 60 FPS. Then I remembered that iPads can record over USB-C, and I downloaded this app. I recorded the gameplay to a external SSD, which is connected to an inexpensive USB-C dock. Since I have a M1 iPad Air, the footage came out great! Thanks Elgato! ### 5/5 — Finally!!! *2024-03-27, version 1.1.2* As a videographer, this is a game changer! Make sure you have a Thunderbolt 3 or higher in order to unlock all resolution the app allows. Ran into one issue where i have to reset the recording destination to the downloads folder every time I open the app. Very small issue compared to the positives. One caveat I ran into… When I connected it with a USB 4 cable, it was only capturing at 6-7 frames per second. I game and the elgato audio captures my Xbox but I cannot capture my microphone I also have hooked up to the m4 iPad. I usually have to connect and disconnect the input multiple times before the app recognizes the input. Setting it to 4k when playing a lower resolution stream like from a Switch just shows a blank screen. The biggest issue is no audio passthrough. I get audio in the recordings but no matter what my settings are in the app or on my iPad, there is no audio coming through the speakers or headphones unless I record it and watch it back. ### 3/5 — App has some issues *2025-06-07, version 1.2.2* I would like to say it functions as it should capture wise, but compared to other apps when running a call like discord it completely freezes and is unresponsive.
