### 2/5 — Not a great experience so far

*2026-04-28*

So far 50% of the tests were defective and did not register anything. The tests that did register had 2 major issues. First, taking the picture is a royal pain in the rear. Takes forever and has a real hard time registering what it’s seeing. Second issue is accuracy. I tested with Eli just before getting a test from Quest and the discrepancy was huge. Eli said I barely registered any cortisol but quest labs had me at the upper end of the normal range. I will not be ordering any more.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry for the frustration. This is not the experience we want for our users. We have recently updated our scanning experience to make it faster and more intuitive, and we hope you notice the difference. One thing worth noting on the cortisol comparison: saliva and blood tests measure different things. Blood tests typically measure total cortisol (bound and free), while Eli measures only free (active) cortisol. These values are not directly comparable, so the difference in numbers does not necessarily indicate an inaccuracy. For the tests that did not develop, please reach out to us at ask@eli.health and our team will be happy to send replacements.

### 2/5 — Very confusing

*2026-04-17*

I’ve done 5 tests and although they all look the same (lines in the same place on each sample) when I take a picture one says I have high cortisol and the others say I have low cortisol. How are they differentiated? I’ve wanted to think these test could help identify my cortisol levels, but I’m doubting it now.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your experience and for taking the time to leave a review! We completely understand your concern, and we want to help clarify how the results work. Your cortisol level is determined by the intensity of the lines, rather than their position. Even when lines appear to be in the same place, subtle differences in how dark or faint they are is what determines whether your cortisol is high or low. That said, we'd love to make sure you're getting the best experience possible. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at ask@eli.health and our team will be happy to help.

### 2/5 — Cumbersome with questionable accuracy

*2026-02-21*

Took me a while to take an acceptable photo and the cortisol readings that I got seem very questionable if they are accurate. I got an extremely low wierd out of range reading . I realized later that AI is being used based on the photo to give the cortisol readings . There is no way to know for sure if it’s an accurate reading or just AI hallucinations due to a poor photo . Save yourself the guesswork and get a blood test. Will not order again . Can’t do much with results I can’t trust

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, we truly appreciate your honest feedback. I’m sorry to hear that you had trouble capturing the photo and that your result felt difficult to trust. That’s understandably frustrating. I’d like to clarify that while our app uses advanced image analysis to read the test strip, it does not “hallucinate” or generate results. Our line detection technology is proprietary and specifically trained to measure the test strip signal. The system has been clinically validated and demonstrates 97% accuracy compared to the gold-standard laboratory method. That said, image quality can impact the reading, and we’re continuously improving the capture experience to make it easier and more reliable. That said, we’d really like to help. Please feel free to reach out to us at ask@eli.health so our team can help improve your experience or arrange a replacement kit or refund.

### 5/5 — Measuring regularly, excited for testosterone

*2026-01-22*

Started using this to measure cortisol to improve my sleep quality and energy throughout the day. So far so good. Excited for testosterone testing.

### 5/5 — Easy to use, insightful results

*2026-01-16, version 1.4.16*

This product is amazing! I can finally check my cortisol levels without waiting at the doctor's office. I'm able to test my levels any time!

### 1/5 — Worst customer service EVER

*2025-11-04, version 1.3.3*

I have had nothing but problems since I received my testing kit. Thank God, I only purchased one month of trial to see if it worked!!!

However, I have just discovered that they are going to start charging me $300 whenever they want to and say they’re sending me a six month kit. In fact, I complained about this and they sent me a non-working link that doesn’t work so I can cancel this “subscription”. I never ordered the subscription.

I have had nothing but difficulty in the test.
After you do the saliva test, you are supposed to scan a QR code. The QR code is so small and my phone does not register it.
I have had to try and try and try for an hour to get that QR code to work!!! This test is tedious and frustrating and I never want to do it again.!!!

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-11-03, version 1.2.0*

Does not give accurate results, and often does not give any result. Very poorly designed app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2025-08-01, version 1.1.0*

The 2 lines never appear
When I pull on the tab as required, it feels like it’s about to break and the tab never stays straight
It says my cortisol level are always the same regardless if I test in the morning or at night.
I was really hoping this would help me figure out my pattern for cyclical Cushing disease
But I don’t trust these results at all

### 5/5 — Groundbreaking insight from a simple daily habit

*2025-07-28, version 1.1.0*

As someone passionate about health and self-awareness, I find Eli’s approach refreshingly smart. Tracking hormones through saliva feels both natural and empowering. The app is easy to use, and the data gives me a deeper connection to my body.

### 5/5 — Accessible Testing Solution

*2025-07-28*

This company is creating truly innovative solutions for at home testing. Very cost effective and I’m really excited to see where they continue to grow and develop more testing. Great product!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Issues with app

*2026-07-19*

I wanted this to be useful, but half of the time, there are errors when you take the picture and requests to try again later so you just continue to retake. The protocol won’t save a test result so I’ve completed 8 tests and it’s only logged 5. Very disappointing.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for sharing exactly what happened, it helps us more than you'd think. We appreciate you taking the 8 tests even though you faced problems. Camera errors that force a retake, plus results that don't save sounds like a bug in the app.

Could you email us ask@eli.health with your account email ID, and roughly when the missing three tests happened, and we'll dig in and follow up directly. We would love to make this right for you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

### 1/5 — Poor App Experience

*2026-07-11*

Don’t waste your money. The application’s use of the camera is unreliable and difficult. It makes the system unusable for readings. It is a test strip with an unreliable reader.

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry the camera reader made this feel unusable instead of easy. That's not what we want anyone testing with the Hormometer to deal with.  We have seen that with some troubleshooting on our side we are able to solve a majority of customer issues.

Email us at ask@eli.health and we'll help you get readings and solve this for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

### 1/5 — False Data and Hope

*2026-06-12*

I am a trained scientist, had no failed tests, and followed the letter of the law. Per Eli I had depleted cortisol and a reason to explain my fatigue. I made an urgent appointment with my PCP who did a blood draw; a result of 2-3 on the device, with all other tests significantly lower, was 9.7 per standard of care blood test. Now I’ve wasted money on these devices, made my PCP think I am an idiot, and am no closer to figuring out my fatigue. Hell of an idiot tax.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry for the frustration. This is not the experience we want for our users. Please reach out to us at ask@eli.health if you have any other questions.

### 1/5 — Waste of money and a scam

*2026-06-07*

Do not waste your money on this garbage. I took a test and scanned the same test multiple times and each time it gave a different score and it ranged from 1 (which would be the lowest I’ve had in my entire life) up to 20. This is just not possible. This platform is garbage. What a scam.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we are truly sorry for the frustration this experience has caused. Accuracy is something we take very seriously. A few things can affect scan results, including scanning before the 20-minute mark or in low-lighting conditions. Making sure those are in place can make a real difference. That said, we would love the opportunity to help you directly. Please reach out to us at ask@eli.health and our team will be happy to send replacements, offer a refund, or support you in any way we can.

### 1/5 — Low confidence readings

*2026-05-09*

My wife and I have each taken two readings. One when we woke up and one early afternoon. We followed the instructions in the app, and used the in-app timers. All four results were exactly the same (0.5-1.0 - low). There’s 13 years between us, and very different sleeping patterns/quality. My confidence is the accuracy of these readings very low and this feels like a wasted investment. Looking at the other reviews, our experience isn’t unique. It’s unfortunate most people won’t read these reviews prior to purchasing the test strips.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, and for being so thorough in your feedback. We're truly sorry this didn't meet your expectations. We take accuracy very seriously. Many factors can impact results between individuals and we'd love to walk through your experience with you directly. Please reach out to us at ask@eli.health so our team can make things right.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money

*2026-03-16*

The app does not work as advertised. I followed all instructions perfectly and I have a brand new iPhone and the image does not capture. This app is trash.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, we truly appreciate your honest feedback. We're sorry to hear you had trouble capturing the image, especially after following all the instructions on a brand new device. That's understandably frustrating, and it's not the experience we aim to deliver.

We'd really like to help. Please reach out to us at ask@eli.health and our team will work to improve your experience or arrange a replacement kit or refund.

### 1/5 — practically useless

*2026-02-06*

There is so much wrong with this app. If you take an evening reading after midnight it treats it as if it's the next mornings reading. There doesn't seem to be any way to adjust this. After taking a reading you need to take a screenshot because there doesn't seem to be any way to just look at your numbers in the app. It links with apple health but none of the reading values are showing up. The camera based scanning is terrible with needing to get the QR code just the exact distance away. Too close by a few millimeters and the camera loses focus, too far and it can't read the code. You have to retry several times for it to pick up the bars properly. You can create a report but then you have to send it someplace, you can't just display it. I saw insights and I assumed it would be insights into my readings, nope it is just a bunch of blog posts. The submit feedback function just spins forever until you give up and back out. I wanted two things from this app, take a reading and list the actual number measurements with times in a table. It just barely manages the first and fails at the second. I definitely won't be buying any more of these tests.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. I’m really sorry for how frustrating your experience has been, that’s not the level of clarity or usability we aim to provide. We’re actively working on improving how the app handles measurements taken throughout the night, including readings after midnight. You can view your measurement values directly in the app in the Measurements tile on the cortisol screen, but we hear clearly that accessing and reviewing data over time is not meeting expectations today. Regarding Insights, they are intended to be personalized based on your readings, including suggested actions and tag trends, and we’re actively expanding this area with more meaningful, data-driven features over the coming weeks. I’ve also shared your feedback about scanning, Apple Health syncing, feedback submission, and reporting with our product and engineering teams. Thank you again for being so candid. If you’re open to it, we’d really like the chance to help. Please feel free to reach out to us at ask@eli.health so our team can help improve your experience or arrange a replacement kit or refund.

### 1/5 — Waste

*2026-01-21*

Expensive for what it is. You take a picture with your phone of the test strip and somehow is supposed to know your cortisol. Dumb

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your feedback, I’m sorry this felt frustrating. We use machine learning and AI to analyze the image and interpret it based on the known outcomes of our assay, which allows us to calculate your cortisol level accurately. If you’re open to it, please reach out to us at ask@eli.health. We’d be happy to help, answer questions, or arrange a replacement kit so you can have a better experience.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2026-01-15*

Advertised as a digital device. It’s a test strip your camera reads differently on each phone

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your experience, I am sorry this was frustrating. Our product is a physical test strip that is scanned with a phone camera, and consistency across different phones is something we take seriously. The app is calibrated for camera and lighting differences. If you are open to it, we would really like to help. Please feel free to reach out to us at ask@eli.health so our support team can look into what happened, help improve your experience, or arrange a replacement kit or refund.

### 1/5 — Horrible Design

*2025-12-27*

They need to redo or rethink this app. You have to line up the view on your phone camera and when it senses that it’s aligned properly it allows you to take a photo to get your results. The problem is you can line it up perfectly and the app will not let you take the photo or it will let you take a photo and then tell you it wasn’t aligned well and to try again. Sometimes I fought with it for 5 whole minutes just to get a photo that was acceptable. It was extremely frustrating! I will never recommend this product. Also they don’t explain how they can accurately tell you your levels just by a photo of two lines on a stick. It doesn’t make sense and they don’t explain it. Total waste of money and very expensive too.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. I am really sorry to hear how frustrating this experience was. You are right that capturing the photo should not feel like a fight. The alignment step is there to make sure the strip is read consistently, but it clearly did not work smoothly for you, and that is on us. If you are open to it, we would really like the chance to help make this right. Please reach out to us at ask@eli.health so our support team can provide hands-on guidance, look into a replacement kit, or help with a refund.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — First impression

*2026-06-06*

I’m impressed with this company! This test was simple and easy to do at home with both manual instructions or an app to guide.

### 5/5 — Great for tracking cortisol levels as a cyclist

*2026-04-29, version 1.5.0*

My boyfriend and I use this all the time! The app is user friendly and the product is easy to use. We usually test post bike ride, so it’s insightful to see the difference in levels based on the type of ride we go out for.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-04-28*

This company provides an innovative way to keep tabs on our health with a product that is easy to use. As other reviewers noted, this product is not meant to replace labs and discussions with health care providers, but it does give users an insight into the correspondence between how they are experiencing stress and how this might be reflected in a lab-like marker.

Unlike a few other reviewers, I found the product easy to use, the instructions super clear, as they walk you through the process step by step. I also appreciated getting setup instructions before the tests even arrived.

If it weren’t for the high price of the tests, I would certainly use it more often.

### 5/5 — Promising technology backed by a responsive, mission focused team

*2026-04-06*

As someone with a suspected complex hormone disorder, I have been using Eli for about a month and have completed around 20 tests. I want to share an honest, detailed review for anyone considering it, especially those who have seen mixed feedback.

First, on accuracy: my Eli cortisol results have lined up with my lab-based testing. That said, I want to be clear that I would never rely on this device alone for diagnosis or treatment decisions. What it does exceptionally well is help identify when further lab testing should be explored with your doctor. For someone like me, it has also helped optimize the timing of those tests, which is genuinely valuable when you are trying to capture patterns that one-off labs often miss.

For reviewers who have had confusing or negative results: if you are managing a suspected hormone condition, I would encourage you to use this tool as one layer of a broader picture, not a standalone answer.

What sets Eli apart from other health tech is where it sits in the healthcare landscape. It bridges the gap between at-home patient monitoring and clinical lab results in a way that very few tools currently do. That gap is real and it disproportionately affects patients with complex endocrine conditions who struggle to get timely, accurate diagnoses.

Product management reached out directly to solicit my feedback and took my clinical observations seriously, and is already working to implement changes. That level of responsiveness is rare in health tech and speaks to a team that is genuinely mission-driven.

I am confident in where this product is headed and recommend it to anyone navigating hormone health, with the expectation that you use it as an informed, complementary tool alongside your care team’s guidance to reach your health goals.

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2026-03-24, version 1.4.19*

### 5/5 — Makes Cortisol Testing Easier

*2026-02-27*

Eli Health contacted me to see if they could help me use their cortisol test. Morgane and Lena stepped me through the process. It took a while for the iPhone to detect the QR code, but after it did, the process was smooth. Thanks Eli Health for people like Morgane and Lena! :-)

### 5/5 — Breakthrough
