Please! ### 3/5 — App is very buggy *2024-12-02, version 4.2.2* I’ve had an EllieGrid for years and like the principle of the device because I have ADHD and often worry about forgetting things. But the device, even with its good features, has historically been very buggy. Some of the ongoing bugs include the pillbox being inconsistent with connecting (randomly giving me the red light) and needing to be reset fairly frequently. Things had generally improved, though, until the most recent update. Since that update, I’ve had this issue of the pillbox not registering that I had opened it for random timeframes with the window of taking my pills but then lighting up blue after the window had closed. I have checked my settings for each medication, deleted and reinstalled the app, and the problem persists. Can you please please fix this bug? I really want to support the product because I think it’s important but the persistence of these bugs is really frustrating. It would be even better if the app could be adapted to Apple Watch :) ### 3/5 — Why so buggy? *2022-09-14, version 3.4.1* The concept of this product and app is top notch, the product and user experience? Terrible. The only way I can seem to get the box and app to cooperate in harmony is if I wait for the alarm to go off and open the box at that exact moment. If I use smart alarms and open the box within the window, it doesn’t always register that I’ve taken them. If I get a push notification and select ‘Take All’ the screen refreshes like I did nothing. No confirmation feedback. I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps to remedy these issues such as alarm synchronization, disconnecting and reconnecting to Bluetooth, even deleting and adding all of my medications. I have put way more time into this pill box than I should have because I really want it to work but I’m losing hope. Was there any research or QA done for this product? How is this pill box and app supposed to simplify the medication adherence process if it’s just constantly gaslighting the user? Please pour all of you money into fixing this app, I’m begging you. ### 3/5 — Fantastic idea but the app rarely works *2022-08-30, version 3.4.1* As someone who is chronically ill, this concept is a dream. My memory is foggy a lot of the time and I forget what and if I’ve taken a lot of the time. The box holds all of my meds and I love that it won’t stop beeping until I’ve taken them. However, the app rarely works. I click “take all” and it just flashes then loads again as if I didn’t hit the button. It’ll work for 3 days then stops working. Then randomly works again. ### 4/5 — Like the concept *2021-06-22, version 3.4.1* Pros: Setting up was easy, More compartments would be a plus. Cons: Lack of any documentation a problem, FAQs not comprehensive. Set up for out of box reminders not clear warranty of only 30 says is problematic. If the product was reliable then there is limited cost to extending the warranty, No info on battery replacement, they do wear out. Could be stuck with an out of warranty brick in a few months. Battery life needs to be longer, and no note re keeping it plugged in re impact on battery health. Battery went from 100 to 10% overnight. Better faqs would solve some of the above. re ease of use, key is reliability, does it do what it is supposed to do, early reviews and my experience indicate not. Frequent updates may be solving the big problems. Yet so far it is not proving to be either predictable or reliable, unless this is fixed, returning. Because one of these conditions is ADHD, I was constantly forgetting if I’d taken my meds, or I would take them at the wrong time, etc. One of my Depression meds (Effexor) must be taken at the same time every day or it can cause low-grade seizures. EllieGrid is literally a lifesaver for me. Thank you so much! ### 5/5 — makes medicated life way easier *2021-01-31, version 3.4.0* i love my elliegrid. it makes it so much easier to track my medications to ensure i take everything and reorder what i need in plenty of time to stay on track. it also looks way cuter on my nightstand than my previous solutions. the app is helpful. there are a few little bugs here and there, but they have been easily fixable so far! i mainly just need to to remind me to grab my grid if i’m in a different room, and it serves that purpose wonderfully. also, the team is so sweet and helpful! i had a minor issue with my elliegrid after several months of using it, and they replied to my email super quickly with different solutions for me. thank you! ### 2/5 — Cant change pill settings *2021-01-29, version 3.4.0* So I loved my Ellie I until a week ago when I tried to change setting for one of the pills I take. I can’t change anything about the pills I originally listed or delete them. I even tried deleting my account and it won’t let me it’s says to contact EllieGrid!!! Guess what I contacted them and customer service is horrible slow email response to fix a tech issue and only recommending things I already told them I have done. Support and the app needs to improve and this could be an amazing pillbox. The pill box stopped syncing. Have asked for help multiple times from company with only a response to watch a YouTube video. Waste of money. ### 1/5 — Pillbox doesn’t work after latest update. *2023-11-26, version 4.2.0* EllieGrid pillbox stopped working after latest update. It will connect in the app but error out after reopening the app or when it runs in the background. The box never sounds an alarm or flashes the lights when an alarm goes off. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting that’s provided, including resetting the box. Nothing works, box is now useless and as someone with ADHD this was crucial for me to take my medication on time. ### 1/5 — Not quite there yet *2023-10-01, version 3.4.1* I’m psyched for future iterations of this product as I do think it will be helpful. I am returning mine because 1) Small pills easily shift into other compartments (??!)) 2) Opening the box causes pills to lurch around 3) the box doesn’t latch, so when traveling and items shifted in my 3) You have to pay kind of a lot for access to med history after buying the box for $100+ 4) The alarm-sound choices are not good 5) You still manually have to enter the # of pills every time A $10 big pill box + a free checklist app will work just fine for my purposes. ### 1/5 — $$$ 103.48 to use the app properly !!! *2022-02-07, version 3.4.1* To track or get support, in other words to actually USE this already expensive device properly, it is going to cost you one hundred dollars a year, every year. WOW, really?! ### 1/5 — Broke in 3 months *2021-09-22, version 3.4.1* Do not buy, the device broke in 3 months only has a 30 day warranty. Use a service like PillPack which is a free service, same typical co-pays as the pharmacy. ### 1/5 — Please fix the app! *2021-08-22, version 3.4.1* The app is so glitchy. I just received my EllieGrid and I was so excited to try this product out. But unfortunately, there is something wrong with the battery and when I pull the charger from the EllieGrid, it automatically gets disconnected from the app and Bluetooth. The app is glitchy and kicks me off every 1 out of 2 time usage. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2021-01-29, version 3.4.0* The only good thing is that it organizes my pills. The bad? The pill counts are always wrong and I’m constantly having to count my pills and mark on my calendar when I should start a new bottle. If I didn’t mark things on my calendar, then I would have missed doses or take double. Not good. Also, I looked into my alarms overview, the app has set up multiple alarms for all my meds. On the main screen I show one for each, but in the advanced settings I’m showing 2, 5, and even 7 alarms for a daily pill. Either the app or the box is crap or both. It’s just an overpriced pill box. Use the reminders and calendar apps instead. ### 1/5 — App is unusable *2020-12-01, version 3.3.0* I’m very tech savvy, but I was unable to update medications, never once received a notification on my phone despite having Bluetooth enabled with the app open, and paying $0.99/ week to have my pill history is outrageous when local device storage could be free for everyone. The Ellie Grid idea is brilliant, but the execution is so poor that it’s unusable... not just buggy, but literally unusable. This product is not only convenient, it is incredibly helpful with staying on track with important medications. You simply cannot forget with the product/app combo! Life-changing! ### 5/5 — A great solution for medication management! *2021-12-08, version 3.4.1* Once I got past more than a couple of pills per day, I decided I needed a better way to manage them. Most pill organizers are geared around a weekly schedule, but I wanted something I didn't have to refill every week. I also wanted something connected with my smartphone for tracking. The app and pillbox are super simple to use. It will organize up to 7 medications, and can hold anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month of more per pill depending on the size and shape. The compartments are different sizes, so even larger pills can be accommodated. I like the schedule and alarm function to remind me when it's time to take my pills. I can be a bit forgetful if my morning or evening routine is interrupted for some reason. While I could set an alarm on my phone, this provides positive confirmation that I've opened the pill case and taken my medication. There is a unique system of lights on the lid to indicate what you need to take and how many (up to 3 pills per medication). If you're a caretaker, you can also receive reports of compliance for the person taking the medication (missed doses, etc). It's really a neat solution at a reasonable price. Comparable options are either super expensive or require a monthly subscription. Definitely worth getting if you need to manage multiple medications on a schedule! ### 5/5 — Love this device *2021-12-08, version 3.4.1* Was a little tricky to set up but this device and app removed my weekly tedious chore of setting up my weekly pills in the daily pill box. The app is so easy to use, and as a disabled veteran, and now that I’m pregnant has made managing my medications so much easier. Thank you! ### 5/5 — Remove the weekly refill burden!!! *2021-03-31, version 3.4.1* As someone with multiple chronic illnesses, I have to take multiple pills, multiple times a day. Traditional pill boxes are most helpful for not having to open a billion pill bottles every day and for organizing, but the constant refilling weekly for each time of day, the counting, making sure the right pills are in the right compartment, etc. It’s all so time consuming and cognitively burdening. Enter the EllieGrid box and its app! When I need to refill a compartment, I empty the entire contents of the pill bottle into the corresponding compartment that I’ve set up in the app. I look at the quantity on the bottle, enter that into the app, make sure the alarm in the app is correct, and *done.* Like, done until 1-3 months from then when I need to refill it again!! No counting out pills, no sitting down every week to refill, no fuss. Then, when the alarm goes off and it’s time to take my meds, the lights on the box show me exactly which pill to take and how many. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. The above, for me, is the most valuable concept of this device/app combo. There are some criticisms. There are only 7 compartments (3 bigger, 4 smaller) so if you regularly take more than 7 pills, it’s not practical. However, you *can* set alarms for medicines (other pills, liquid meds, meds/supplements taken weekly/monthly) not included in the box. Other criticisms- like the Smart Alarm not working exactly the way it should, not being able to easily transfer (in the app) information from one compartment to a different compartment, no place for notes- don’t outweigh the value I mentioned above, and don’t prevent me from giving the app 5 stars here. Especially because I recognize these are things that can be included in future versions of the app and because the folks at EllieGrid are very responsive (and kind) about receiving suggestions. If you feel like EllieGrid would same you time/cognitive energy/pain (ugh, the hand pain from opening a billion pill bottle every week!) and have the resources to buy one (or can add it to your birthday, holiday, or medical wish list), I’d say 100% go for it! The more folks that use it, the better it’ll get. ### 5/5 — Love My Elliegrid! *2021-03-24, version 3.4.1* I’ve had my Elliegrid since April of 2020 (1 year). I had been struggling with missing doses since getting older and having several health conditions. I was on a quest to find a good a good pill box that reminded me to take my medication, how much to take, and when. I found 2 or 3 different types. Elliegrid was relatively small and the others were fairly large and would have to sit on you counter. I liked all the features Elliegrid had to offer, so I bought it even though it seemed like a lot for a pill box. I love it. It keeps me on track and I no longer worry about missing doses or taking medicines twice. And I feel better now because I am taking all my medications. I can’t imagine my life without it! The only thing I would like to see are more colors. Purple to be specific. It’s such a good idea! I purchased this cause I was tired of the old way of individual sorting out each of my pills into a weekly organizer. I purchased this product because I could track and share my medication compliance and it syncs with my iPhone. The unit is easy to use and compact. The Bluetooth is easy to set up and the transfer from the pillbox to the iPhone is seamless. I love the app, and the notifications help me keep on track.
