## What is Elo Hell?

Elo hell isn't real. Your blunders are.

Elo Hell is a chess improvement app built to answer one question: what should you study next? It builds a mastery model of your game from the games you play in order to figure out what you understand, where you're weak, and what each weakness costs you. Connect your Lichess or Chess.com account once and we import and analyze your games.

A MASTERY MODEL OF YOUR CHESS
Every skill you use (forks, pins, your openings, your endgames) carries a living mastery estimate judged from your real games, not your puzzle scores. It rises when you handle a skill well, falls when you stop, and says "not enough evidence" instead of guessing. The model's job is to find the biggest gap in your game and put it in front of you as the next thing to work on. Each skill has its own page with the estimate, the trend, and the exact games behind it.

IN-DEPTH GAME REVIEWS
Accuracy, per-move classifications, and a plain-English explanation of every mistake. You can always analyze any of your imported games for free or paste a game link from Lichess or Chess.com and review it before you even sign up.

PUZZLES FROM YOUR OWN MISSES AND BLUNDERS
The positions you failed become the positions you train, scheduled with spaced repetition so they come back right before you would forget them. Get one wrong and the coach explains why your move fails.

DEEP STATISTICS
Built by a data scientist with a background in education. Seeing exactly where and how you fail is one of the best-supported levers in learning research. Tilt patterns after a loss, blunder rate by time left on the clock, where your wins slip away, what your opening theory costs you in pawns. Every stat names the games it stands on.

AN OPENING REPERTOIRE TRAINER
Build lines from your own games, a full catalog, or an imported study. Review them on a spaced-repetition schedule, practice them against the engine, and see exactly where your real games leave your prep.

AN ENDGAME TRAINER
Hone your ability to actually win your winning positions by replaying your slipped endgames out against perfect defense. Curated endgame puzzles help you learn the theory every player should know.

A catalog of annotated classic games with real human commentary, searchable by position similarity. Each day we recommend several games based on your play that you can walk through move by move with a guess-the-move stop at critical moments.

BUILT ON YOUR GAMES
Elo Hell keeps a library of your newest games across your connected sites, analyzes every one of them, keeps the set current as you play, and computes every judgment and statistic from them.

Everything above is free: connecting brings in your newest 150 games, then 20 new games at a time when you ask, with a 24-hour wait after each batch. Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription ($3.99/month or $39.99/year, varies by region) that brings in your newest 1,000 games right away, imports every new game automatically each time you open the app, and keeps 1,000 games instead of 150.
