## What is Embeat?

Embeat is the native music player for your Emby or Jellyfin server. Enjoy your library just the way you organized it: artists, albums, tracks, genres and playlists, with cover art and metadata.

• Gapless, lossless playback for FLAC and ALAC.
• CarPlay. Browse and play your library from the car screen: recent, new, favorites and playlists, with cover art, the queue, and shuffle and repeat.
• Embeat Connect streams music to DLNA/UPnP devices on your local network, Sonos speakers included — gapless there too.
• Download tracks, albums and playlists to listen offline.
• Choose a quality cap for mobile data and keep the original on Wi-Fi — gapless either way.
• Multiple Emby and Jellyfin servers, with quick switching between them.
• Global search, favorites, an editable queue, background playback and lock screen controls.
• Ask Siri to play your music on Embeat.

Sonos only accepts audio up to 48 kHz. If your library is hi-res, Embeat adapts it on the way there, keeping it lossless.

Embeat connects directly to your server. It collects no data and shows no ads.

Not affiliated with or endorsed by Emby, Jellyfin or Sonos.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-10

Embeat now plays in your car.

• CarPlay. Your library on the car screen: recent, new, favorites and playlists, with cover art and the queue. One tap plays, and favorites now include albums and artists, not just songs.
• No more gaps on mobile data. Capped-quality tracks no longer leave seconds of silence between one another when you're off Wi-Fi.
• Sonos from Jellyfin. Hi-res music from Jellyfin now reaches Sonos speakers, adapted on the way and still lossless.
• Embeat Connect finds devices faster, and no longer keeps you waiting when Wi-Fi is off.
• Plugging in headphones mid-song no longer stops playback.
• If a server doesn't answer, you can now switch to another or add one without leaving the screen. And the first track of an album is seekable again.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-03

This release is all fixes.

• Connecting over a VPN. If you reach your server through Tailscale,
WireGuard or any address outside your local network, the app no longer
  stops at "couldn't connect".

• No gaps between tracks. Continuous albums and live recordings play
through the track change without the short silence, and the end of a
  track is no longer clipped.

• Downloads. A download that failed halfway was reported as complete.
  Not any more.

• Embeat Connect. Casting to DLNA speakers starts sooner and recovers from
a device that accepts a track and stays silent. On Sonos, tracks with no
album no longer lose their title and artist.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-02

Sonos support in Embeat Connect

You can now send music to your Sonos speakers: they appear in the device
list, you control them from the app, and the Sonos app shows what's playing,
with artwork and a progress bar. Gapless playback works there too.

Sonos won't take audio above 48 kHz. If your library is hi-res, Embeat adapts
it on the way while keeping it lossless, so it plays anyway.

More reliable playback

• Removed the brief gap when changing tracks on mobile data.
• Skipping quickly on a weak connection no longer stops playback.
• Fixed a pause that got stuck on "loading" with an unresponsive play button.
• Plugging in headphones mid-playback no longer leaves the app silent.
• Seeking within a FLAC file is now accurate.

iPad and accessibility

• Icon buttons now meet the minimum recommended size — no more aiming.
• Fixed the top row of Now Playing, which on iPad could end up under the
  status bar.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-01

Embeat is now native on iPad.

• A sidebar instead of the tab bar: Home, Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres and Playlists, always in view.
• Two panes when there's room: the list on the left, the detail on the right, without losing your place.
• Two-column player, with the full editable queue beside it.
• Search shows the results and the selected item at the same time.
• Rotating the device keeps both your selection and your place in the list.

And for everyone, iPhone included:

• Tapping a song in Songs, on Home or in search now plays it, with the queue taken from that same list.
• Shuffle in the playlist detail and in Songs, across the whole library rather than just what's loaded.
• New playlists appear under Playlists without pulling to refresh.
• Gone: the double back arrow in Genres and Playlists.
• Home sections no longer disappear after you reorder them.
