Why? *2024-12-27, version 2.3.1* EDIT: Coming back years later, I took some time to check out their outreach page. The ‘Discover More’ link has a typo — it leads to a “emdroup” website. Seems that it was hastily slapped into the app and never looked at again. What’s the point? I’d rather be prompted a few times a year to donate, and that’d probably work better for EMD too. Look, I know a one star review seems harsh for an otherwise extremely polished and informative app. But is anybody else sick and tired of seeing advertisements creeping into every aspect of life? Imagine seeing something like this on a periodic table in a textbook. Call it childish or petty, but I find this method of outreach to be an egregious violation when providing scientific information. Wikipedia and other educational resources have a clear separation of information and support/outreach for a reason. —— Original Review —— The “curiositum” (or however it is spelled) should not be on the periodic table, because it is not part of the periodic table. It has no business being included there for the same reason you wouldn’t put a “curiosity constant” in a physics formula. I chose this app over the many others available because I liked the clean and cool design, which I no longer feel it has. (EMD Chemical is the North American affiliate of Merck, one of the biggest if not the biggest chemical producer in the world.). In light of all the Tables of Elements available through independent developers and for as little as .99 cents I can't see myself supporting a multi-billion dollar conglomerate who sees me as just another number. At least with independent developers requests and suggestions don't fall upon deaf ears and updates are regular and often as required for such a product. This is just a multi-billion dollar company who hired another company to make this for the sole purpose of advertising there own chemicals and chemical testing equipment. Be wary of such products of propaganda and conditioning this is after all mild brainwashing. ### 2/5 — Great! I just can’t see it! *2019-02-13, version 2.1.0* Phenomenal set of features and info! However you can’t zoom in and scroll so it’s hard to read. However, i don’t understand how anyone would get upset at that. Most people downloading this app probably know a bit about their elements such as the person that left a one star review.
