It’s great, 10/10. What are you still doing here? Download and use it! ### 5/5 — So Usefull *2019-03-15, version 1.9.3* I have been using Emerald Time for a couple of years, mainly to precisely set my wristwatch and all of the clocks in my house, to the second. It is extremely accurate. The display on my I-phone is easy to see, and keeps on running accurately as I go around the house setting all of the clocks and appliance time displays. I used to use the WWV atomic clock shortwave radio but Emerald Time is admittedly easier to use, and just as accurate. Genius. *2018-06-25, version 1.9.3* My house is populated with both weight driven pendulum and spring wound striking clocks of different kinds. Weekly winding day also requires having an accurate time standard to check variations in timekeeping and make small adjustments. I have a tall standing clock ("grandfather") that I usually have adjusted to accuracy of 2-6 seconds a week. Some times of year when temperatures shift means pendulum lengths have to be adjusted. This app really works great! Also, I have companion parrots and being able to control the audible sounds available (or shut them off) means I don’t have my feathered kids learning more beeps and boops. ### 5/5 — The perfect clock *2018-06-02, version 1.9.3* It tells you the exact time--no more, no less. Simple, accurate, to the point. Has a red-light night-time mode. Works in both portrait and landscape mode (on iPads). This gives you the extreme precision time of NTP, with lots of useful options. Specify servers, audible ticks/beeps, different display options, status of NTP time sync quality, etc. I often use it as a time sync reference on data logging videos- just point the camera at Emerald Time on my iPhone screen at the beginning of a video. The app is lightweight, uses no annoying ads, and customizable. Due to the nature and restrictions of the iOS operating system, it can't set the time. The only problem is that it works in different way on iPad and iPhone. On iPad you can use it in either portrait or landscape position while on iPhone - portrait only. On iPad in night mode hours minutes and seconds fit on the screen in landscape position only. In portrait - only hours and seconds fit on the screen. You also won't see seconds on iPhone in night "Red" mode. Those problems shouldn't be difficult to fix. Now I have split second accuracy available and it's great! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Great Clock - Lousy Night Display With No Landscape Mode *2018-01-26, version 1.9.3* Core app for time sequencing is great. The night time display mode is what drags this app down. It will not go into landscape mode for the nighttime display. Developers seem to not be on the job and engaged in this app. Reviewer from a year ago reported on this. All iPhones have power connection in bottom of phone which prevents a user from positioning for easy middle of the night time reading. Fix this flaw and I will change to 5 stars immediately. I hope developers get this and comeback to fix this. ### 3/5 — Landscape Mode Please *2016-11-17, version 1.9* I'm finding it impossible to find a clean digital time display for use as a nighttime travel clock, and I'm sorry to see this otherwise smart app fall short. Please do make a FULL screen landscape mode for the iPhone display, time only in the night mode. iPhones have a power cord in the bottom and the portrait clock display is small for people who don't wear their glasses at night (yeah, a few bazillion of us). Looks like no development on this app for a few years, which is a real shame. This app does this quickly and easily (albeit with a bit too much technical detail in the standard display). One strong request would be to allow the "nighttime" display to adjust to landscape orientation. Right now, the only option is upright/portrait mode. Would also like to be able to turn-off the "cloud" display. ### 4/5 — Excellent reference for when it absolutely has to be on! *2010-10-04, version 0* I appreciate the elegance and work in this one. As a INFOSEC practitioner and a RF communication avocationist it really has come in handy. Maybe a better way to schedule (not on every start up?) server syncs., sort/add servers would be even more appreciated however this is an excellent "FREE" app. ### 4/5 — Just needs some Eye Candy to be perfect *2010-01-31, version 0* I have a clock collection and this is a great app to help keep them all synchronized. Much quicker to get an accurate time from Emerald Time than to turn on one of my hand-held GPS and wait for the GPS to synch up. The only thing I would like to see is option of a beautiful clock or watch interface for those in-between times when I am not using it for clock-setting.
