Pretty good but i wish it had a dark mode override option! Some emails dont work well with dark mode.

**Developer response:** Hello, thanks for using EML viewer.  While we support dark/light mode from the system in the app, some emails themselves have a background color hardcoded into them with HTML. Changing the email to edit the colors may make other parts of the email unreadable  Regular email applications also have this issue.   We do hear you though!

Ich hatte ernsthaft eine performante Hilfe beim Umgang mit eml-Dateien (bei mir in der Hauptsache email-Anhänge) erwartet und bin weitgehend enttäuscht. Nach umständlicher und zeitraubender Aktion eine eml-Datei mit dieser App zu öffnen, kann gerade mal die (durchaus korrekte) Voransicht angeschaut und gescrollt werden. Ausdrucken, Abspeichern, Teilen mit anderen Apps - Fehlanzeige. Dafür ist der Preis von 1,99€ weit zu hoch. Ich würde mir die Nutzung dieser App selbst bei 0€ nicht regelmäßig antun wollen. Im Grunde ein Flop.

Die EML-Ansicht hat mehrere Möglichkeiten, Dateien zu öffnen. Anhänge können an jede App in iOS gesendet oder mit iOS Quicklook innerhalb der App angezeigt werden.

Display of email content is agnostic to the structure (MIME): no separators between different parts, type not respected (contained From: header not showing address enclosed in <> eventually parsing text/plain wrong as HTML). By click on URL the page opens, but there are no controls to navigate in the browser – very simplistic.
For apps making money I expect devotion, even when it is a fair amount.

We have seen some systems generate EML files that don't adhere to the rules or add extensions. Update: We have made some improvements to some of the header formatting in the latest version. This gives better fidelity on headers with certain character sets.

It does display the contents of EML files but it doesn’t download images like a browser would do. Most commercial emails I receive contain linked images so this is a significant missing feature.

This app seems to work very well for opening and reading saved e-mail messages in '.eml' format. Very straightforward to use; just use the 'share' icon in another app, choose 'EML Viewer' and the message is decoded and displayed.

There are two controls for an opened message; one seems to be to 'edit' the message as a new e-mail message, while the other is for printing the message (which also therefore provides a way to export to PDF).

The only missing feature for me would be the option to prevent external images from being loaded by default. Otherwise, this app seems to do exactly what I hoped it would!

It’s a good app but  . . . 

1. Cannot always read mail in Dark Mode. 

2. The two stage process opening from Share option is annoying but given the state of the world right now, not worth fretting over.

2. Agreed.  The “open in” function isn’t the smoothest in iOS.  We like the new drag and drop features for this though, especially on iPad.

Erstes File geöffnet, App meldet, dass eml Files grösser als 2 MB nicht geöffnet werden können. 

Zweites File: 10 Zeilen Text, ein Mini vcf File als Anhang, in Summe 7 kB. App meldet „low on memory“. 

Summary: nettes Zusatzwerkzeug für gelegentlichen Bedarf. Wer auf ios verlässlich Eml lesen muss braucht etwas anderes.

EDIT: Developer response is completely false. The app is absolutely riddled with ads. The fact they’re trying to claim it isn’t when it clearly is speaks to their integrity.

As the subject says it costs money yet they still manage to squeeze endless annoying ads in every corner including full screen pop ups. Save your money and get another app.

Personalmente la ritengo una applicazione inutile: è possibile aprire i file eml con solo testo ma se ci sono allegati o se il file eml è quello di una pec non legge e non apre gli allegati.
Per il momento la sconsiglio assolutamente a meno che gli sviluppatori non si decidano a risolvere i noti problemi.

… muss man sich ein bisschen in den Sachverhalt hinein arbeiten. Wie ihr Name schon sagt, öffnet sie nur Mails, die mit ihrer Endung auf eml enden. Ich wollte gerne einen exportierten Ordner von Mozilla Thunderbird öffnen, und zwar über eine ans Ipad angeschlossene SSD.. Das ging so nur teilweise, weil viele Mails in komplexen Ordnerstrukturen eingebunden sind und sich dann nicht öffnen lassen. Hier braucht man eine kostenlose Erweiterung in Mozilla Thunderbird, z.B. "ImportExportTools NG", die es - nachdem sie installiert ist und Mozilla Thunderbird neu gestartet wurde - ermöglicht, die gesamten Mails im eml-Format zu exportieren. Das geht dann wirklich einfach.  Und schon kann man mit dem EML Viewer die gesamten Mails schön nach Datum sortiert auf dem Ipad öffnen. Perfekt! Vielen Dank den Entwicklern!

Make sure you select “send a copy” (NOT “collaborate”) on the share menu when you want to send a file to EML viewer. Only when sending a copy you’ll see EML viewer as a target. Also: Don’t be disappointed that it doesn’t show Apple Mail attachments from Apple Mail .eml files that you created from archiving them to the Apple Files App. That’s not a bug in EML viewer, that’s a bug from Apple. Simply also drag the attachments from Mail to Files to archive them as well.

It takes a couple of steps, but this apps works perfectily to open Outlook (for Mac) email templates on my iPad Pro 2024.  It was not clear how to do that in the app and I got detailed customer support within one day - and they said the coming update will make it easier to see how to use it for Outlook templates. So stoked as that was the huge missing piece for being able to work on the road with just my iPad.

Ich war auf der Suche nach einer einfachen Lösung, um die auf meinem NAS abgelegten EML-Dateien zu öffnen. Die App macht genau das möglich. Ich nutze hier die Apple Files App auf dem iPad, nach der Auswahl der EML-Datei und auswählen des „Teilen“ / „Öffnen in“ Buttons, kann man problemlos in dieser App öffnen und die E-Mail inkl. Anhängen anschauen sowie aus dem Text kopieren. Sehr hilfreich.
