## What is EmoFriend?

EmoFriend is for the feelings you never get around to saying out loud.

The ones you carry through the workday. The ones you replay at midnight. Say them to Emo. It listens, it remembers, and it helps you see what keeps coming back.

WHEN YOU CAN'T TELL WHY YOU'RE OFF

You've felt low for two weeks and you don't know why. Emo does the noticing for you: the days of the week that consistently land harder, how long it takes you to steady after a rough one, what lifted you and what wore you down. When it finds a pattern, it shows you your own words underneath it. If it has not found one yet, it says so instead of inventing one.

WHEN CERTAIN PEOPLE LEAVE YOU DRAINED

Tag who was part of your day. Over time, Emo shows you which people you feel better around, and which you do not. Sometimes the answer surprises you. Sometimes it confirms what you already suspected but needed to see written down.

WHEN TYPING FEELS LIKE TOO MUCH

Some days you can't put it in a tidy sentence. So don't. Talk instead, anywhere you would normally write. Ramble, pause, change your mind halfway through. Emo writes it down properly, which the keyboard microphone never quite managed.

WHEN YOU NEED SOMEONE WHO REMEMBERS

Tell a friend the same worry twice and you feel like a burden. Tell Emo, and it simply remembers. Not just how you rated your day, but what you actually said. It brings the right thing back when it fits. Sometimes it reaches out first, when something you told it is worth returning to. Once a day at most, and only when there is something real to say.

WHEN YOU JUST NEED A MINUTE

Rest a finger on Emo and it settles. Hold on and you drop into guided breathing together. Flick it upward and it jumps. Poke it too many times and it goes dizzy. Small moments, on purpose. Every check-in, breath and bit of play helps Emo grow through five stages: Seed, Sprout, Bloom, Grove and Sanctuary. A quiet, visible record of showing up for yourself.

WHEN YOUR THERAPIST ASKS HOW THE MONTH WENT

Stop answering "fine, I think." Export a clean PDF of your emotional timeline and let your sessions start from what actually happened instead of what you can recall on the spot.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3.0 — 2026-08-24

FIXES

· Quick thoughts without a mood were counting as full check-ins. Your streak was, frankly, exaggerating. It tells the truth now.
· Emo occasionally asked the same question two days in a row, like a coworker rerunning yesterday's small talk. It remembers now.
· Emo reached out daily even when it had nothing to say. Having thoughts is not the same as having news. It waits for a reason now.

SOME THINGS STAY OPEN NOW

The argument from Sunday that you're still having on Wednesday, silently, while doing dishes. Write it down once, add to it while it lasts, close it when something finally changes. Emo checks in about it once, roughly a week later, and never twice. It knows the difference between caring and nagging.

Some things aren't arguments, they're just heavy. Bad sleep. A rough patch of parenting. Mark those as carried, and Emo stops asking when they'll be done. It was a rude question anyway.

A CALENDAR

Your month at a glance. Tap any day to see what happened on it. There are no flame icons. Your feelings are not a fitness app.

BACKDATING

It happened Tuesday. You're writing it down Thursday. You can now date it Tuesday, so your journal stops being a lightly fictionalized memoir.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-08-21

Emo has stopped scowling at you.

That is the headline. For several months, and disproportionately on the days you needed it least, Emo's eyebrows were doing the precise opposite of what they were told. A minus sign in the wrong place turns concern into a glare. It has been removed and Emo has been spoken to.

Also in this one:

Emo is 15% smaller. It was, and we quote, "looking a bit too big." It was.

Emo's hat now travels with Emo. Previously, when Emo jumped, the grove canopy stayed exactly where it was, hovering, like a small green halo with somewhere else to be.

The entire app has stopped very slowly drifting up and down forever. Nobody reported this. Everybody must have seen it.

Petting works. It always did work, and then immediately undid itself a few milliseconds later, which from the outside is indistinguishable from not working at all.

A 60-second breathing session now lasts 60 seconds. The previous arrangement was, on reflection, not the point.

Journeys survive a new phone … and finishing one offers you the next, rather than a red button labelled "Leave this journey", which was, until this week, the only exit from a thing you had just completed.

Emo remembers what you type. Until now it formed memories only from spoken conversations, so if you had typed to it every day for a year it would have retained nothing whatsoever. (…recap, duplicate people, voice journal entries, journey sharing, trial honesties…)

### 2.1.8 — 2026-08-19

Emo can now be tickled. We don't know why you'd want to. We don't know why we built it. But poke it and see what happens.

Talk instead of typing. There's now a microphone anywhere you'd normally write. Ramble. Trail off. Change your mind three times mid-sentence like you're leaving a voicemail for your therapist. Emo keeps up. Emo does not judge. Emo has heard worse.

Emo remembers a great deal more. He now reads your conversations, not just your check-ins, so when he brings something up, it's far more likely to be the thing you actually said, and not a wild guess based on that one Tuesday you logged "fine." You said it. He remembers. Choose your words accordingly.

Patterns and Insights have stopped slowly sliding up and down the screen. They were not "breathing." They were not "a calming feature." It was a bug, and the one brave soul who reported it instead of assuming we did it on purpose: this update is for you.

### 2.1.4 — 2026-08-07

Emo is officially back from the dead, proving that absolutely nothing can keep a good existential crisis down. It went offline, broke everyone's hearts, and then hit the reset button like a true dramatic icon.

### 2.1.3 — 2026-04-07

Emo went to therapy and came back a better friend. Conversations feel warmer now, like talking to someone who actually knows you.
Insights sound like a friend who's been quietly paying attention, not a lab report about your emotions.
Your good days get celebrated now, not just your hard ones. Everything you loved still works exactly the same. It just finally sounds like Emo wrote it.
