### 3/5 — Good information,buggy app

*2026-07-04*

It gathers a lot of good data if you go full on and get all the bio markers filled in. The app itself though is buggy and sometimes doesn’t register when touched, or takes forever to load the pages. You update the to do’s and the numbers don’t change. If the to do’s are for specific tasks you can’t complete, then why add it to the top. I feel they have halfway finished the app and walked away. Get better devs to make the app fully functional.

**Developer response:** Thanks for trying us out! We'll fix that "to do" functionality. For the touches or slow page loads, can you email us at hello@empirical.health with any specific pages you're seeing?

### 2/5 — Go back to the old style

*2026-04-22, version 2026.04.17*

Liked it better last week

### 2/5 — I would never use this again

*2026-01-06*

Don’t sign up for the lab tests. Some are useful but most are not. Many are just duplicates and variations of the same thing presented as ratios, etc. Also, there is only one doctor so you won’t be able to discuss your results for months after the tests. Stay away. Just go to your regular doctor.

**Developer response:** Hi! Apologies for the backlog in appointments -- a rush of new members have come in, and so as soon as we add appointments, they get booked up. Feel free to message us in-app and we'll see if we can find an earlier slot for you!

### 3/5 — Confusing

*2025-06-14, version 2.55*

Not sure why I can't just download the report.

### 2/5 — Hard to follow

*2025-05-06, version 2.4.10*

There is no easily available set of explanations for what the notices mean.

### 1/5 — This seems to be trying to be too much

*2025-02-27*

I came this app after finding it on the POTs subreddit and first experience it is sooo buggy. Downloading brings me right to the payment not onboarding so I had to search for onboarding.

I thought this app would help me monitor some symptoms and help build an exercise program - but it seems to be peddling talking with one of their doctors and when trying to even build a plan it has so many issues in trying to provide it.

Either way - try and pick a feature or two you want to focus on & make that good. There is a real gap for apps for pots and other chronic illnesses to help build treatment plans when you don’t have access to doctors of PTs.

**Developer response:** Hey Racingnl59 -- fair feedback. If you email me at hello@empirical.health, I can help you customize your plan so that it has the parts you want (e.g., exercise program) without the clutter of the parts you don't. Thank you for the feedback and hope to hear from you.

### 2/5 — Too laggy to be usable

*2025-02-25*

The data available looks great and is well presented. However, it’s impossible to scroll in the View Recent Workouts page. 2 workouts get loaded and the page ends up freezing when you try to scroll back to older workouts or even scroll to the 2nd page on a workout. Not sure if it’s just the app or iOS 18 because there are scrolling issues all over iOS 18. Definitely not paying for a non functional app but I do like the UI and would consider it if the app performed as expected. I’ve actually played around with d with the app a little more and it is just too laggy and unresponsive to use across the board. Once again, data looks amazing but app responsiveness is extremely poor. Also,
It’s a battery hog. I deleted the app.

**Developer response:** Hey ECB71 -- we've found a bug affecting lag on the workout screen. If you send me an email at hello@empirical.health, I can add you to our TestFlight. I'd love your feedback on whether this solves the lag problem for you! Thanks for trying us.

### 3/5 — Claimed HRV was 14

*2024-11-26*

The app claimed my HRV was 14, which indicated poor heart health, but when I check the health app from my iPhone, it says it’s 35, which is decent. I don’t trust this app, it worried me over a glitch!

**Developer response:** Hi! Can you email me at hello@empirical.health? The most likely reason is that these numbers are two different time ranges, but I'd love to double-check and make sure this isn't due to a bug on our part.

### 2/5 — Incomplete exercise data

*2024-09-22*

I was looking forward to a tailored plan. However, it only utilizes apple official workouts and not my exercise minutes which are part of the apple watch health metrics.

**Developer response:** That's a good suggestion! We can add it. I have a few follow up questions about how exactly you would ideally want exercise goals to work--if you have time, could you email hello@empirical.health? Thank you!

### 1/5 — Just use the Health app

*2024-07-10*

Doesn’t really provide any additional information from the Apple Health app. I got suckered into the free trial and forgot to cancel. Now I’ve paid for an app that repackages information Apple already presents in a very consumable way. Additionally, some of the information presented is just wrong - I.e. presenting a low resting heart rate as something you should be concerned about when they have the data to see that your active and the low heart rate is a result of your fitness. Don’t make my mistake…

**Developer response:** Hi! Since this review was written, we've added some pretty major new features. Let me know what you think about the most recent version! The new features include a brand-new Metrics screen, ways to track your care plan on the watch, trends, and medical care in 30+ states. As for resting heart rate, we always try to flag a metric that's out of the normal range since, even if you're athletic, it's still possible the low heart rate is the result of an underlying problem. We think it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to these types of things.

### 4/5 — seems helpful

*2024-05-10, version 1.7.9*

so far, i love the app! although i wish there was a symptom tracker within it, it has been great for managing just my dysautonomia! only issue is when loggin medical conditions i have, 2 of mine were not listed :(

but im excited to keep using!

### 1/5 — No show

*2024-03-27, version 1.7.6*

Would be helpful if they kept their appointments instead of canceling or ignoring them.

### 1/5 — Please, don’t use an app to diagnose POTS…

*2023-10-15*

It’s great that POTS is getting more awareness. However, POTS is more than an effect of long-Covid. It’s been glamorized since Covid because of the uptick in patients who present with it. Apps like these tend to offer “quick diagnoses and fixes” but in reality, if you do suspect you have POTS, it is better to go to an actual doctor (preferably cardiologist or neurologist) who specializes in autonomic testing. There are several other types of dysautonomia that have similar symptoms and these conditions are managed differently. These are physical tests, you can’t self-diagnose. It’s not a diagnosis you particularly want, either, if that’s not actually the condition you have. POTS patients are continuously gaslit and we have a systemic problem with getting doctors to believe our symptoms. Without the autonomic testing to back up your diagnosis, it will be much, much harder to find the right treatment that works best for you. There are also different subcategories of POTS. Some have low blood pressure, some have high. If you recommend “increase salt” to those with high blood pressure, it’s not safe without regular check-ins with your doctor to monitor your overall health in conjunction with any treatments you’re doing at home. Stay safe 👌🏻

**Developer response:** Hi Mrs Jackson! Our POTS evaluations always include a medical evaluation from a real board-certified doctor. These programs also include physical tests: orthostatic vitals, ECG, and blood tests. Some of these can be performed at home with the aid of an Apple Watch or other smart devices, and some are performed at a local lab.

To address your specific concern about blood pressure, our at-home sit-stand procedure includes measuring blood pressure using a wireless cuff. This guides both the diagnosis and treatment decisions, such as what medication to prescribe. As for autonomic testing, our Chief Medical Officer wrote a more detailed guide on when people need to do a tilt-table test: https://data.empirical.health/p/do-i-need-a-tilt-table-test-to-confirm

Obviously, we believe medical care has to be rigorous and trustworthy. And we hear from many patients who are frustrated that they've been gaslit by the medical system--that's why we built this app, so that patients can get empathetic medical care and live their best lives.

Let me know if that answer makes sense! Feel free to email us: hello@empirical.health.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Seems inaccurate

*2026-07-02*

While the info from the bloodwork on different bio markers is cool, all the other info seems really inaccurate. It doesn’t connect to an oura ring but only an Apple Watch and it getting my data all wrong and making my numbers off as well. It’s just a robot, so there’s no nuance. It’s a no from me.

**Developer response:** Would you be able to email us at hello@empirical.health with details on where you're seeing inaccurate Apple Watch data? I'd love to fix the problem. (It's true we integrate with Apple Watch and not Oura.)

### 1/5 — Junk - Terrible app and support is even worse

*2026-05-22*

I have been using the free version for more than 3 months. Could never get my Apple Watch fully functional, despite the (half-hearted [no pun intended]) terrible support interactions, even when the team knew I was interested in upgrading to the paid service(s) if I could fully set up the app.

Example: the app says “you were in bed for 3 hours and 55 minutes and slept 7 hours and 19 minutes,” even though Apple Health, AutoSleep, Oura, and Whoop report credible values.

FYI - I transitioned to this app to replace the Cardiogram app (which actually worked quite well) when the developer discontinued it.

### 1/5 — There are better

*2026-04-04, version 2.9.9*

Run down lab at bio reference, inscrutable interface in app to download results and no support. Basically sucks.

### 1/5 — Not Worth the Spend.

*2026-04-04, version 2.9.9*

Stick with the Apple Health app. I have found this app extremely simplistic and providing no more data points than Apple Health. Save your money.

### 1/5 — No Go for POTS

*2026-03-10, version 2.9.8*

Downloaded for POTS and CHOP protocol but without the ability to customize my base pace and other heart rate zones, my bradycardia prevents my ability to reach those zones. I unsubscribed and deleted

### 1/5 — Cardiogram

*2026-01-07, version 2.9.2*

I used Cardiogram for years. Loved it. Tried this as a replacement and it is not what I will be using going forward.

### 1/5 — Horribly laggy and overall bad UI

*2026-01-02*

I haven’t received my results yet so I can’t talk about that. But the app is not well designed or stable at least on my phone. Switching tabs on the bottom is weird, getting jitters when scrolling and other strange UI.

**Developer response:** Thank you for trying us. We'll work on fixing the lag you're seeing--if you have more details or feedback, would you be able to email us at hello@empirical.health?

### 1/5 — Function Health is Better

*2025-12-17*

It’s been 10 days since I did my lab work no communication on they received my lab work. No data on the app. Still says I need to purchase it. Terrible communication bad support. Nothing compared to Function. Health definitely wouldn’t buy it. I would definitely buy the functional definitely has a better user experience quicker lab results better app experience functional is definitely a better buy.

**Developer response:** Would you be able to email hello@empirical.health (if you haven't already), and I'll track down what's going on with your lab work. Sorry for the delay!

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-10-15*

Empirical Health claims for $190 you will receive a comprehensive heart health panel. They setup an appointment with your local lab and claim it is 100% paid for by a doctor named “Dr. Rodriquez”. I n the end you will get a bill from your lab (in my case $1,500!) and you will get nothing from the app. No doctor contact nothing! No customer support. Stay away it’s a complete scam!

**Developer response:** Hi! Could you email us at hello@empirical.health, and we'll get this resolved? Sometimes the lab will make a mistake that leads them to bill in error. We can just call them to fix it. Our contract with the labs sets a bulk rate of $190 (for biomarkers that would be a list price of $1,500 or so). If you paid us, you've already paid in full, so please let us fix this for you!

### 1/5 — horribly intrusive

*2025-07-27, version 2.62*

intrusive setup

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Screenings

*2026-03-03*

Very helpful information on my watch and what they are able to detect

### 5/5 — Good source of key data

*2025-08-18*

How can you not like and value the significant amount of key health data points provided thru this service, which is well organized and summarized in the app. Is it perfect? Nope, but from what I’m reading the developers are constantly improving performance and features. I have full health coverage with annual blood test, but I still value to intel provided here. It’s a good app, good data, and well summarized take away.

### 5/5 — Empirical Heart Health is Excellent

*2025-08-02*

I am using this app rather a lot. I find it excellent; intuitive, good graphics, good insights. I can recommend it strongly. It’s well worth your time and money.

### 5/5 — Extremely useful

*2023-07-21*

Easily readable analysis of my current health condition

### 5/5 — Finally an health app that’s actionable!

*2023-07-18*

Love that this app uses my watch app data with an actual doctor to help me better understand and manage my conditions!

### 5/5 — Peace of mind

*2023-07-18*

I like that this app not only organizes my Apple Watch data, it also lets me talk with a real doctor if anything is off. That gives me peace of mind!

### 4/5 — Almost There

*2026-01-25*

I miss Cardiogram. Empirical is ok, but lacks the feature of having a family share option. With Cardiogram, my wife was able to check on my heart rate from her phone to see if I was in Afib. We really wish Empirical had that option. Please consider adding it! Thank you so much!

### 4/5 — Great app for heart health with suggestion

*2025-12-23*

As someone in his 40 with heart disease that runs in the family, I use this app to keep myself in check. Great Apple Watch companion. I love tracking my workouts, nutrition, sleep, and blood pressure all in one app. I especially love tracking the nutrition by simply taking a photo and quick text. One addition I’d love to see to make all of this easier with the fewest amount of taps possible is better shortcuts app capabilities. Like a tap shortcut to log food or a workout. Otherwise, I will continue to use this app a my main source of truth for my heart health when consulting with my doctor.

Update: so I still use the app to track my food and nutrition which is really simple to do, but I just realized that it does not sync with Apple health. I’m not sure why that is one area that does not sync.

**Developer response:** Thank you! I like the idea of shortcuts app integration--if you'd be interested in testing this in the future, email us at hello@empirical.health!

### 4/5 — Heart Rate Alarms

*2025-12-14*

Great app! Please add low and high heart rate alarms to alert the user of abnormal heart rate. The alarms should default to the standard levels and be adjustable by the user.

**Developer response:** Thank you! Good suggestion -- we'll work on it.
