### 3/5 — Get the app fixed

*2023-01-14, version 6.3.0*

So it’s now Empower but the developer and support are still Prudential? And it’s broken on the iPad, trying to enter the password doesn’t work at all. You have to open Passwords, copy, then paste. Otherwise it rotates back and forth between landscape and portrait mode (I always use portrait mode) and then just goes to the Home Screen. It should auto-fill the password like it used to.

### 2/5 — App doe not work

*2022-12-21, version 6.2.0*

I just downloaded the app and entered my SSN, DOB, etc. then when I try to login again, I get the following message: “We’re experiencing temporary issues and your answer didn’t go through. Please answer again.” It doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in the legitimacy of this app, especially when it has a totally different name than Prudential. I guess I’ll try again later. Maybe it takes time.

### 4/5 — Great but wished it had more

*2022-11-01, version 6.1.0*

So, I do like the app but I definitely wished it had more comprehensive data about my portfolio, like what is the makeup of my fund.

I also could use more graphs and more data on mine and my company’s contributions.

It’s a little too simplistic.

### 3/5 — Mobile is better but still a crappy service

*2022-06-17, version 6.1.0*

Mandated 401k by company management that has NO ability to trade individual stocks with a clumsy terrible interface Who likes that? Institutional folks? Individuals? Who knows. Not for me nor anyone else I know. Please transfer our plan back to fidelity as soon as possible.

### 2/5 — Improvements

*2022-01-14, version 5.2.0*

I enjoy the convenience of using the app, however there should be more options within it ; such as alerts better graphics and interfacing with the account holder allowing real-time notifications to enhance your user experience. Sometimes the content makes me feel out of the loop because updates with performance information has been delayed for several days at a time on various occasions which has caused me to not enjoy the app as I end up loosing more money than I ordinarily would , since there are options for transfers to less volatile fund selections , this defeats my purpose of using it in the first place.

### 2/5 — Little to no functionality. Website is even worse on mobile

*2021-09-28, version 5.1.0*

Attempted to see my quarterly account statements today, seems simple enough right?

It turns out there is no way to do this through the app, no problem though, I can just go to their website using my phone.

Get to the website and immediately select “view/print statements and documents”.

“Well that was easy.” I thought

Wrong, on the webpage for viewing documents you get a drop down with a list of your quarterly statements. You can select anyone of them but there is no way to actually view or print the statement you have selected. Ended up having to use the custom date range feature to generate quarterly statements because the prudential app and website both lack this very basic functionality.

**Developer response:** We're sorry you're experiencing issues with the app and website. Please email mobileapp-support@prudential.com, so we can investigate further.

### 2/5 — Could be more user friendly

*2021-02-24, version 4.0.0*

It would be nice if it would show your target investments and actual investment in each fund on the same screen. I would like to easily see if I’m meeting my target profile. I feel it’s not set up in a way to eat allow you to control your own investments. Maybe this is purposeful.
Overall the app is not user friendly.

### 3/5 — Log in issues

*2020-04-27, version 3.0.1*

I have not been able to login for a week now and still can not get in on the App. Can only access from the website. Many people are having the same problem. When it worked the App was good but, now it is useless until the problem is fixed.
The problem was fixed two days later and is now working fine. Thanks

### 2/5 — App Not Working

*2020-04-26, version 3.0.1*

This app use to work great. I have no idea what happened. Can’t log in anymore. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. Restarted my phone. I can log in through the website, but it’s a pain and it takes time.
Prudential is an old school financial company that has never really kept up with the times. If it wasn’t such a giant it would have been taken over years ago.
I have several other retirement accounts that blow this one away. This was top of the line 15 years ago..........

### 3/5 — Stopped working since yesterday

*2020-04-25, version 3.0.1*

Not working anymore on iPhone 11. Keeps saying we are having temporary login issues, please try after few minutes. But same issue for more than a day. I can login from my computer via the website. So, it is App that is having issues. Tried login with uid/pw and Face ID. Same issue persists. Please fix. Thanks

### 1/5 — Worst company ever!

*2024-02-06*

Unfortunately we were given no choice as to whether to use this company or not. The company that my husband retired from switched his retirement account to this company in 2022. I have not needed to get information from them regarding my husband’s retirement until recently. We are in the process of a transaction in which we need to verify his retirement benefit. My husband is hard of hearing, almost cannot speak above a whisper and has dementia and cannot give them the information that they require over the phone and they refuse to talk to me even with my husband’s verbal permission. I have repeatedly sent them the documents that have given me Power of Attorney. I have had no response from them either by phone or email. They are rude to me even if I can talk to someone who does not speak broken English. Getting this information is time sensitive and I have been dealing with this issue for over three weeks. I can’t even go online because they have deactivated our account. I could be dishonest and pay some homeless person to impersonate my husband on the phone. And they would give that person all the information regarding our personal finances. So much for privacy and security. Think long and hard before you ever consider this company for your financial needs! A very dissatisfied and angry senior citizen.

### 1/5 — Where is my money?

*2024-01-22*

I’m not happy at all, like I say, I was putting in 11% contribution I have officially dropped it down to three. I can actually save more by myself with my retirement and I will look into rolling it over when I was putting in 3% I was making a fortune, object to 11% and it barely barely barely creeps along. It’s like I’m being robbed. like I say for years I put in a small amount of 3% and made a fortune, I had up to 11% and it goes back-and-forth never ever moving anywhere it’s like someone is helping themselves. I’ve never seen anything like it I am going to inquire like I say, moving back to Fidelity.

### 1/5 — NYCTA Bus Operator

*2022-12-24, version 6.2.0*

In my opinion: Since they (empower) took over (bought out) Prudential they have lost incredible amounts of cash retirement savings. I was enrolled in the least aggressive 547 and 401K. I lost a real good portion of my hard earned principal plus everything I put in from the day they took over. I stopped contributing. Everyone I talked to lost money. 90K
One guy 50K another. I lost 1000$ in a day. I know the market is bad but it’s hard to see that competent professionals can loose that much that fast. It’s like casino odds. I don’t trust them. Some people say it’s like a sinking ship that is taking on more water then they can bail out. I thought they lost tens of millions of transit workers money in 6 months but it looks like hundreds. Remember people can make money off of a recession or a depression and with a lot of coin you don’t need to win big to get paid big. The word incompetent comes to mind.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2022-07-31, version 6.1.0*

Frequently asks me to re-enable Face ID authentication even though I save this feature to be used/enabled during next login. Frequent login issues with error that says “Sorry, we are experiencing temporary login issues, please try again in few minutes”. I have never faced this issue when Fidelity was owning this. It has become worst after Empower acquired it.

### 1/5 — Terrible customer service

*2022-04-08, version 6.0.0*

This company has the worst customer service of any company I’ve ever dealt with. The took weeks to respond to a simple question. They changed my statements to electronic email only without my permission … they didn’t have my email so I just stopped getting statements. It took hours for them to set me back up with paper statements. After weeks and at least 5 phone calls I have still not received a statement.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2021-12-27, version 5.2.0*

This app has been very good for a long time but the last 2 months (at least) its constantly loosing the setting for facial recognition… you set it all up and then a day later it acts like you never did it … after 10 times of that it gets really old … I’ve removed and redown loaded … I figured the developers would have. Patch soon but it’s been months now

### 1/5 — Lacks functionality, way too basic!

*2021-04-13, version 4.1.0*

This Prudential App is a total disappointment. It needs to include the ability to research investment options to determine which will provide the best return for the user. The ability to reallocate investment funds is of little use, if the user has no way to see their performance to make decisions. Prudential obviously isn’t interested in providing a full functioning app, so why bother providing something that doesn’t measure up to user’s expectations?

### 1/5 — Extremely unhappy with Prudential

*2020-10-06, version 3.4.0*

My company recently transferred management of our 401(k) and pension plans to Prudential from Wells Fargo. It’s been a nightmare. The website is very clunky to begin with. A bigger issue is that for some unexplained reason, my funds from the two categories of 401(k) and pension into four categories - my contributions, employer match, pension, and QNEC(?). The problem is that if you want to make a transfer, you can only do one category at a time. And once you make a transfer in one category, all other categories are locked until the first transfer is processed - at least a day. It’s a totally unnecessary, time-wasting, inconvenient, and costly feature of the website.

**Developer response:** Hi Taylor, we're sorry to hear about your frustrating experience using the website to make a transfer and we'd like to help. Please visit http://on.pru/TransferSupport for more information or if you'd like to be connected to someone who could better assist you please email us at mobileapp-support@prudential.com

### 1/5 — Is this app a joke?

*2020-08-27, version 3.3.0*

If I weren’t working for a business that used this company for its 401k, I wouldn’t even bother. But since I do, and have experience as well with the Fidelity mobile app, here goes.

This app is an armature attempt at appeasing people’s last cry to heads on a pike when they first introduced an app...that was an even bigger joke.

No ability to see individual fund daily up/dn in a single view...you have to drill...waste of time.

No ability to see market trends.

No ability to look up other stocks/bonds.

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t go to an orthodontist for knee surgery, so why companies would go to an insurance and cheap annuity company for a 401k plan baffles me. They are ill equipped at supporting the markets speed and flexibility offered by other actual financial planning institutions.

### 1/5 — Can’t access with iPhone

*2020-06-10, version 3.1.0*

This is the second time I have tried to access my account from the app. Impossible. When I called I was told to use laptop..duh....if I had a laptop I would. Which brings me to the question, why do you have an app? And then when speaking to a representative I asked to receive paper statements. Can’t do that because of Covid-19. Funny, I seem to receive bills just fine. Also when calling asked first if I would participate in a survey at the end of my call...you betcha! And of course at the end of the call was immediately disconnected. Basically useless....tempted to rollover this 401k. This one simple transaction took over an hour to complete.

Update: thank you for your computer generated response. No...I will not waste another minute explaining how I can’t log in. I-Phone..Safari browser. I’m sure you know the problem.....read all the other reviews. Your App should clearly display phone numbers for HELP.

**Developer response:** We're sorry you're experiencing trouble logging into your account. Please email socialmedia@prudential.com and we'll look into this for you. In the email, please provide: • Indicate [IOS/Android] user • Date/time issue occurred • Version of app currently installed • Screenshot of the issue or last action you took • App Store name

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This app is the worst!!

*2024-02-22*

Prudential was bought out by empower and the extremely long 2 yr process giving limited use of the website. Then from one day to the next they shut it down and tell you to down load the empower mobile app and sign up with all the information they just shut me out of!! Hahahahaha no such mobile application on the App Store. 5 or more different empower applications because 1 isn’t enough This is the worst company. 30 minutes so far on hold waiting for the next available representative. Because everyone wants to know what nonexistent mobile app they are referring to!!!!! I just want to know where my Money is!!!!!! Zero stars !!!

### 5/5 — Nice web site

*2023-01-28, version 6.3.0*

Overall, solid nice app / web site to use. Clear, logical, and efficient. Room for improvement for selecting other funds. Kinda limiting on selection of investment options. It would be nice to easily see all the fund expenses and fees also. From a local perspective, my employer “use” to have a Prudential representative personally appear on site and review face to face your investment options in a conference room. Now, it’s all virtual which is a real disconnect and no real connection. COVID is now the excuse or reason why. I don’t think we will ever go back to a massless in person society thanks to COVID and a fear based drum beat constant by our Media.

### 5/5 — Just OK … not a lot of account management functionality

*2022-11-24, version 6.2.0*

I’m always grateful when a company goes to the effort of creating an app. This app is legacy from the Prudential acquisition so it can’t directly be pinned on Empower. Overall, app functions well, view balances and changing contributions is great. Things that are missing and you still need to go to the website for: downloading statements, transaction history past ten days and any sort of portfolio analysis or breakdown. I find it helpful at times but I still use Morningstar X-Ray for a detailed portfolio analysis.

### 5/5 — Cryptocurrency (XRP, BTC, ETH)

*2021-08-24, version 5.1.0*

Is there any plan to introduce Cryptocurrency funds like what others have done? I would really like to put 15-20% of my 401k spread out amongst assets of my choosing.

If not how can I go about transferring my funds to another entity where I can? I won’t name any names, I do not want to take a loan to do so. I have a crypto portfolio already. I do not want as much fiat as I have and want to diversify in the worlds emerging technologies.

### 5/5 — Good read and quick access to my retirement account. Customer service at the ready whenever.

*2021-04-04, version 4.1.0*

It’s been a great experience with this app. It’s fast and does not crash.

### 5/5 — What an App Should Be

*2020-11-12, version 3.4.0*

This is what an app should be. It’s the easiest to access, easiest to navigate, most thorough financial tool I’ve used. Subconsciously, if I know a bank app is a pain to use, I stay away more than I should. This one is the opposite. I access it whenever I want because I know I won’t end up frustrated.

### 5/5 — Percentage versus dollar amount

*2020-09-03, version 3.3.0*

You should be able to choose the dollar amount I don’t know why this ad doesn’t allow you to choose the dollar amount I think that will work for people much more efficiently I think this is B.S!

### 5/5 — Love the continued update

*2020-08-14, version 3.3.0*

This App continues to add great features. In addition to all the things you would expect like account details and transactions, the articles are customized to me. Keep the good stuff coming.

### 5/5 — Luv the new enhancements!

*2020-08-11, version 3.3.0*

Pru gets it! I have retirement assets with other providers and their apps are clunky, difficult to navigate and offer tools that are useless. Pru’s new app is easy to use, offers tools that provide great info all in an efficient format! Thank you Pru!

### 5/5 — Does the trick

*2020-07-10, version 3.2.2*

When my quarterly retirement statement arrives, I can log-in with one touch of the thumb and see where my accounts stand. I have not tried all the other tools in here yet, but the app satisfies my basic needs. Easy to use.
