It started with the app having issues connecting to and refreshing external accounts. Now I can even login. As soon as you open the app it won’t even allow you look through it without giving all your banking details. Which it won’t allow me to connect and I’m using Chase bank! I’ve wasted every morning for the last week trying to access this stupid site. They recently stopped showing your stock holdings as 1 combined number from multiple accounts. For example, you own AAPL in a Schwab account and a Fidelity account, it will show the totals separately. It makes no sense - show us the combined total. It worked for years until a recent update ruined it. If they change it back I will change my rating and my review. ### 1/5 — One Star *2026-08-11, version 2026.07.29(2607.29)* The app is fine for manipulating and managing my retirement funds, but it does not allow me to make changes in my self-directed portion of my retirement portfolio. I should be able to access both in the same app, instead of having to go to my computer to get there. Designed for people who have very little $ and are not smart investors. ### 1/5 — Don’t trust this company *2026-08-10, version 2026.07.29(2607.29)* Funds management I had requested for my account to be closed out and 1-2 days after I had made this request I called the customer support and told them to cancel my request to cancel my account with them and they told me that they would process my request and I would receive a follow up call back to confirm my request So I waited for the call back And NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK FROM THEM NO EMAILS NO CALLS ETC SO I CALL BACK AGAIN MANY TIMES AND THEY FIRST SAID THEY WERE STILL PROCESSING IT AND THEY WOULD LET KNOW WHEN THEY WERE ABLE TO GET MY REQUEST PROCESS ASAP AND THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW THE STATUS I SPOKEN WITH EMPOWER TODAY AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THEY STILL HAVE MY FUNDS SINCE DEC 2024 and are going to send to the state since there has been no funds cashed my me after they stated that they had issued a total of two checks to me but were never received so they NEVER INFORMED ME NOR DID THEY NEVER ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT ME NOW THEY WILL SEND A DIRECT DEPOSIT INTO MY BANK ACCOUNT BUT THAT IT WILL CHECK AT LEAST ANOTHER 30-60 days to process!!!!!! OMG WHY IS SO DAM HARD TO LEAVE MY ACCOUNT OPEN AS I REQUESTED FOR THEM TO DO AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE PROCESSING THE REQUEST AND STILL NOTHING ### 1/5 — Not impressed *2026-08-09, version 2026.07.29(2607.29)* Having used other 401k providers in the past,and only using Empower after their buyout of Prudential, I find the rebalancing tools within the Empower site to be the worst. As a financial advisor I understand why folks don’t feel capable to do things on their own, and sites/apps like Empower’s only make this worse. They gave me incorrect advice, sent incorrect forms, and gave incorrect information about how to complete forms. At another time, Empower sent me an email to contact them about my RMD, when I did so they were not able to establish what the email was about. When I further contacted them about the progress of my RMD dispersal, ( simple question), Customer Service was confusing, unclear, and unhelpful.
