### 4/5 — Photo Loading delays

*2026-06-02*

I LOVE this app, but there’s one thing I notice that makes it less than perfect for me. I really dislike that whenever I go to a photo album I don’t open often, individual photos take forever to download from iCloud before populating. The entire album will load just fine after opening, but if I click on a specific photo it takes super long to load the photo. Is there a way to fix that?

### 5/5 — Simple and secure

*2026-03-12*

This app is good. It’s simple and clean. I like having full control over the data. I like that no one else can access the data. I like the option of a subscription or a one time payment. I like that no account needs to be created in order to use it. As soon as metadata can be preserved/viewed in the app, I’ll give it five stars! Update: Metadata is now in the app, the camera controls are significantly improved, and the Liquid Glass is beautiful. Five stars!

### 4/5 — Great for the price!

*2026-02-26*

I needed a vault to store private files with a lot of storage space and a solid backup cloud capacity. This is certainly one of the best. My ONLY criticism is that it has a huge lagging issue when I scroll after uploading a large amount of files at once (about 600 photos). The interface can DEFINITELY afford to be a bit smoother in that area. It shouldn’t take several minutes to find one thing.

The app being crowded shouldn’t affect the functionality. Especially after I paid for yearly unlimited storage and have more than enough space to add more files if need be. That makes me a bit skeptical since I have about 20,000 more files to add.

Otherwise it’s great in comparison to KeepSafe which always has glitches and loses all my backed up data. It’s cheaper than their yearly subscription as well which is nice. A smoother interface and this is easily top tier in my book.

### 5/5 — Excellent Vault

*2026-02-15*

Simple, safe and easy to use.

**Developer response:** Thank you!

### 5/5 — Best out there — Amazingly Private

This is the one.

### 4/5 — Simple and secure

### 5/5 — Fantastic, robust application

*2025-04-18*

This has been necessary for such a long time, but all one could find prior to this app were inferior, half-baked and often misleading solutions. Encamera finally addresses all my concerns and seems to have an active development and community support behind it. Open source makes it actually trustworthy.
Really indispensable.

### 4/5 — Hoping to get promo code

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2025-03-09*

I’m only a few days into using this app after trying to find an alternative app to KeepSafe which is not Zero Knowledge storage. I tired a bunch of other Zero Knowledge apps and they all had problems or didn’t fit my needs. I just want a simple secure photo vault and the fact that this uses my own iCloud storage is perfect. Everything is encrypted, and I hold the keys and the vault. The app developer has been active and is releasing new features which is important. There was another app similar to this that I liked but there were no updates in over a year. I also see they post regularly on Reddit so I don’t feel this will go stale.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your review and feedback! This is exactly why we built Encamera, most other apps are not zero-knowledge and can access your data since they hold the keys to everything. Glad you like it!

### 5/5 — Exceptional support team

*2025-01-30, version 2.2.7*

You can directly contact the app developer on Telegram for any issues you may face.

The app actually encrypts the media you upload to it. I have tested this using the files app.

It’s got icloud as a storage option. So that is a big plus. When you want to retrieve/view a media file, the app will download it from icloud, decrypt it, and then you can view it.

All in all a good app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-10-25*

Great functionality, easy to use, and keeps photos private. Recommend for anyone who cares about privacy

### 1/5 — APP STOLE MY CONTENT

*2026-05-03, version 2.6.0*

I spent hours loading my content on to this app, only for it to crash and remove all my content. NEVER TRUS THIS APP

### 1/5 — App not responding since past update.

*2026-02-27*

App gets frozen on welcome screen and then just freezes.

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry it’s not working, can you please update to the latest version to see if that fixes it for you? Otherwise please reach out to alex@encamera.app. Thanks!

### 1/5 — Very weak

*2025-11-17*

They say they have great encryption, but let’s be serious here you can only type in a four digit code which can be cracked within 10,000 tries. Lame plus look at their info and how much data they collect on you! Delete it of your phone asap

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry the app fell short of your expectations! Maybe it’s not clear enough in our UI, but you can change the length of the passcode to be as long as you want. We also lock you out of the app after a certain number of incorrect password entries. As far as the data we collect, this is something we don’t do, which is stated on our website and on the App Store listing. We really take user’s privacy seriously and don’t track any identifiable data.

### 1/5 — Not functional

*2025-10-22, version 2.4.3*

After I enter the app using my password or FaceID it’s just a blank empty black screen.

### 1/5 — Too expensive

*2024-10-15, version 2.2.4*

If you want to access your photo, you’ll have to pay a subscription that comes around 2.50$ a month to be able to store your pictures on your phone or on iCloud (that you also need to pay for). It’s way cheaper to use your iPhone photo app hide’s feature

### 2/5 — Intriguing application (see update)

*2026-08-28*

This has been necessary for such a long time, but all one could find prior to this app were inferior, half-baked and often misleading solutions. Encamera seems to address most of my concerns and it apparently has an active development and community support behind it. Open source makes it actually trustworthy.

UPDATE: Not so great after all. For a privacy focused app the only acceptable option is "Data not collected". Instead they tag you with Revenue Cat ID?! The welcome screen gives off really bad vibes - Cheap "Kodak" type shots plastered together... kitsch vaguely reminiscent of countless disreputable apps. Thumbnails are blurry. It keeps asking for premium, even though I have purchased a Lifetime subscription. Just gives me the "ick". Until there is absolutely zero telemetry this app simply cannot be taken seriously. No go for me.

### 2/5 — APP ERASED MY CONTENT

*2026-05-14*

I spent hours loading my content on to this app, only for it to crash and removed all my content. NEVER TRUS THIS APP

**Developer response:** Hi, we’re really sorry you had a bad experience with the app! We discovered a bug with large photo libraries where the loading time would be astronomically high whenever the album was opened. This is fixed in 2.7.0, please give that a try to see if your content is back! Otherwise please reach out to support@encamera.app.

### 2/5 — Not ideal

*2025-03-18*

No FAQ on website for obvious questions; how can I manage the data inside the encrypted file with my Mac? No share option to airdrop? Is that available after paying or something? How does accessing the media without the app on Mac work if I can’t even airdrop it worst case scenario. Give me an option to simple access the media via USB/Finder and I’ll buy it. No share option and 50 photos to test with is a wild fail for a free trial. Impossible to tell if this will work for me.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback! We are working on a Mac App to be released before the summer, so you'll be able to manage your media using that. The Airdrop sharing should work just fine, if it's not working for you it may be a bug on our side. Please feel free to join our Telegram group, found inside the app, and send us a message.

### 2/5 — It’s a Great App, If you pay for it.

*2024-11-04, version 2.2.5*

The only thing that makes me mad is they make you go through a lengthy process of importing photos, THEN they tell you that you must upgrade to premium to see your photos 🤦‍♂️

On top of that, it doesn’t say
*INCLUDES IN APP PURCHASES* @devs put that on the apps page and 99% of people will be less annoyed, and you’ll either get minimal downloads, or, A LOT, and A LOT of 5 star reviews

### 2/5 — Looks pretty good but where did the photos go?

*2024-04-26, version 2.1.4*

Tried the app by creating an album and import some photos. It was processing…. But then nothing. No photos anywhere. After killing the app and starting it again it just says the album is locked. Can’t see any photos. Not sure what this is all about but did not work for me.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Privacy is imperative

*2026-08-19*

Safe and private

### 5/5 — Very Nice work.

*2026-07-31*

Is very well done nice work.

### 5/5 — Best Encrypted Photo App in Years!

*2026-04-14*

Encamera is the kind of iOS app that makes you exhale a little in a world built by data pickpockets and attention thieves. It takes privacy seriously, keeps its hands off what is not its business, and backs that up with encryption that feels like an actual commitment instead of marketing confetti.

What really seals it is that the app does not sit still. It keeps improving. The developers clearly listen, adjust, refine, and keep pushing it forward instead of letting it rot on the vine. You can feel the human attention in it.

That is the sweet spot. Real privacy. Real security. Real improvement. Encamera feels like it was built by people who give a damn.

### 5/5 — Such a great App!

*2026-04-13*

This app does exactly what it says it’s going to do and it does it well! Everything is so straightforward and easy to use and it runs so smoothly!

### 5/5 — Makes me feel safer about photos.

*2026-04-09*

We all
Have pics we want protected and this solves that! No ads is great! I wanted control over where my photos lived and making sure they are encrypted. This totally fit that need. Super happy with it!

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2026-04-08*

Finally an app that doesn’t require an account or email. I can trust that my information is safe and secure. My favorite part is that I can take photos directly in the app itself.
Y’all have got to try it.

### 5/5 — This was so easy to set up!

*2026-04-06*

This was seriously so easy to set up. I didn’t need to create an account or give them my email address or anything. I just downloaded the app and got started. I love that I have a safe place to keep images and videos that I don’t want the rest of the world to see.

### 5/5 — Easy to use and really great app

*2026-04-02*

I love how simple it it but really pribate when it comes to protectng your photos

### 5/5 — Mike
