What is the point of encryption? **Developer response:** Files automatically save after encryption on the app, and you can also simply share them to any where you desire. ### 4/5 — Good but needs more *2024-12-10* From your Images app you can only encrypt images and not video, but when selecting from the files app it lets you encrypt videos. Perfect for keeping my stuff safe! ### 4/5 — A few features needed *2024-09-29* Overall the app works and does what it says. It’s odd that the developer doesn’t say what kind of encryption / what strength. I assume files stay local but an iCloud sync would be nice. It does make it easy to share encrypted files/pics. Decrypting a picture displays it, which is nice. It also allows you to encrypt text easily. The plus plan for unlimited items makes sense. What’s doesn’t make sense is that it won’t let you change file names or even DELETE encrypted files without upgrading. Those should be basic features. Also you need plus to decrypt external files. I plan on using this app to send secure files, which means getting others to download it. If you need to pay to do that, then good luck trying to expand your use base. I certainly won’t be telling others to download it/be sending files to others. Also would love a feature where it uses a default encryption password. Finally it needs a password verification vs show password feature. It’s way too easy to misspell and lose your file. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. The app uses AES-256 encryption, and decryption is available to all users without needing to upgrade to the Plus version. In the next update, I will also include a "show password" option for added convenience. To encourage users to upgrade, we should consider locking certain features, such as deleting files or renaming them, behind the Plus version. Additionally, iCloud sync may not be the best solution since the files can be too large to upload and store across devices efficiently. ### 5/5 — Unverzichtbar für Datensicherheit! *2024-09-20* Ich nutze Encryptor schon seit einiger Zeit, und es ist ein unverzichtbares Tool geworden, um meine sensiblen Dateien zu schützen. I have to click the application window and hunt for the file to be encrypted. Hey, this not the 1980s. Wake up to the modern user interfaces. I should be able to drag a file or folder or multiple files and folders to the application window or dock icon. 2) There is no help built in to the application. There is a Help menu option but it does nothing; it says “Help isn’t available for Encryptor”. 3) there is a Settings dialog that offers a paid subscription for a ‘Plus’ version, but in fact it does not allow you to actually pay for such a subscription. The dialog goes no where. Which is irrelevant anyway, because according to the Apple Store the application is free. I thought Apple was inspecting applications before it allowed them in the Store? ### 1/5 — Unacceptable *2025-03-31* There may be great potential with this app. However, in the free version, the lack of the ability to delete any of your files is stunning, preposterous, and absolutely unacceptable. Yes, I understand the developer needs to make money. But requiring a paid subscription before you are permitted to do something as basic and necessary as deleting any of your own files is just plain wrong. The developer seems to have recognized its lack of value and has now made it free. Is this possible? I opened an encrypted file, I used this software to encrypt, on axcrypt on pc and it said it was encrypted with aes-128 instead of 256. Jedoch gibt es einige wesentliche Sicherheitsprobleme, die die App im Vergleich zu anderen Passwortmanagern weniger sicher machen. • Fehlende FaceID/Code-Abfrage beim Öffnen: Ein großes Problem ist, dass die App beim Öffnen keine zusätzliche Sicherheitsabfrage wie FaceID oder einen Code verlangt. In einer App, die Passwörter und wichtige Daten speichert, erwarte ich als erstes, dass meine Daten durch FaceID oder einen Code geschützt werden. Diese Funktion fehlt hier komplett, was die App unsicher macht. • Fehlender Schutz bei falscher Passworteingabe: Ein weiteres Sicherheitsmanko ist, dass die App keine Schutzmaßnahme bietet, wenn man das Passwort dreimal falsch eingibt. Diese Funktion sollte unbedingt gesichert werden, um Missbrauch zu verhindern. • Fehlende Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung: Eine weitere wichtige Funktion, die in „Encryptor“ fehlt, ist die Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung. Trotz dieser Mängel werde ich die App weiterhin nutzen, da sie insgesamt wirklich gut funktioniert.
