It keeps bugging you to subscribe. ### 1/5 — $4.99/Week? Outrageous *2026-04-03, version 5.5* I am sick to death of greedy developers trying to stick a needle into me and dribble out money forever. If I buy a printed dictionary, the publisher doesn't try to continuously suck money out of me. The app title says "Offline". That is false. I turned off wifi and cellular, and got a notice I had to be online to get data. Wait. It's worse than I thought. I turned the intenet back on and looked up a word. When I tried to look up a seond word, I got an ad for an AI dictionary. I closed the ad and tried to continue with my word. The ad came back. I could not look up a word without accepting a free trial with a default to automatic subscription. This is the most egregious (looked that word up in my Merriam-Webster dictionary) app I have ever seen. Deleting it immediately. I am also infinitely irritated that the App Store does not require developers to detail in app purchases in their adds app store ads. ### 1/5 — Bad App *2026-03-25, version 5.3* Unfortunately I only downloaded this again in order to leave feedback because the first time I tried to use the dictionary it wouldn't let me continue unless I agreed to AI subscription for a year. I couldn't get past this point without saying I agree to a trial and then a year's subscription. It's full of adverts that you have to click no to more than once. Don't download this unless you want to get really frustrated. ### 1/5 — 3 Screens? *2026-03-06, version 5.3* Actually, as far as a “Dictionary” goes, this is a reasonably good, albeit a bit simplified one. BUT…If I cannot figure out how to use it WITHOUT subscribing, It will go the way of most “new” apps; into the dustbin.
