### 2/5 — UPDATE OCT 2025: Yamaha breaks once somewhat stable app on last update.

*2025-11-08, version 1.2.5*

NEW - Oct 25 update might have fixed a few things but it BROKE others! Now you have to reboot the piano from the MAINS switch to get the app to load without the WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH. And that lasts only a few uses. Log-in/Server connection issues +++, NOTE, these issues only materialized with the latest firmware update. Support is puzzled. $94,000 MSRP piano is no good without a stable/useful app!!!
OLD
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews on this app. Some seem to be about the DKRadio subscription and not this application. Any of us who have owned older Disklavier Pianos (prior the the Enspire model) will truly appreciate how awesome this app is. You can get to almost every aspect/control over the piano. Plus it’s pretty intuitive, runs on any device that supports newer HTML functions, and is pleasant to view.

Wishlist= 1. more access to maintenance functions/tests/settings.
2. Better support for the Remote Lesson functions that allow 2 Disklavier Enspire pianos to communicate with each other over the net.
3. Dark theme/night mode options.
4. Wallpaper options (so we can picture our actual piano).

Overall, this is an ok upgrade to the Disklavier interface and deserves more praise.
Happy Listening.

### 1/5 — This app is horrible.

*2024-06-16, version 1.2.3*

I own a Disklavier piano. The controller app is horrible, and makes the piano impossible to use as I intended. Sadly, while my piano is new, I expect this app is sunset and rotting on the vine. I spent 15 years in software companies, and such crappy tech for such a beautiful instrument is egregious. After spending tens of thousands to have this piano play in my home, it just… doesn’t. Do your research and save your money.

### 1/5 — Never ever, ever buy this piano or product.

*2024-06-03, version 1.2.3*

I own a Disklavier piano. I think it’s very telling that it was 3 years ago when Yamaha last updated this disfunctional software. We spent tens of thousands on a piano and this horrible interface keeps us from enjoying the very reason we bought the piano. This app never works, it stops playing for no reason pretty much every time. You cannot have a party and expect the piano to work because this app is so unreliable. You call Yamaha and they can’t fix it. You call your local piano dealer and they blame “your internet connection”. We got the piano Ethernet hard ward and it still doesn’t work. The app constantly spins “connecting” and you wait so long that you get frustrated and close the app. You walk away, and 15 minutes later the piano randomly starts playing. The reviews are consistently horrible and yet Yamaha does nothing. I wish I’d been warmed just how awful and unworkable this product is.

### 1/5 — Rarely Works

*2024-03-09, version 1.2.3*

I must restart several times over several sessions to get this app to work. Most of the time I quit in frustration before it actually works.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2023-11-19, version 1.2.3*

The connection isn’t stable nor does the app support any airplay or Bluetooth connectivity to any additional speakers.
I’d expect this buying something from Walmart; for the price of the Grand Piano, I expected so much more. Even more concerning the last app update for the app was two years ago.

For the curious we did have a professional tech do the installation. The app is just bad

### 1/5 — Awful software

*2023-09-09, version 1.2.3*

I spent over $40k on a Yamaha piano and this software could have been written better by a two year old. It doesn't work. Yamaha should hire apple to make some decent software. They obviously don't have a clue.

Even the simplest functions like copying a song to the hard drive don't work. Very, very, very disappointed.

### 2/5 — Does not consistently work

*2023-09-05, version 1.2.3*

I had the en-suite system installed in February 2023. It has stopped working for me 3 times often with gaps up to a month before salesman can make it here to figure it out. Most recently I tried to install a recommended update and it’s totally frozen so I cancelled my disclavier radio/tv. It’s wonderful when it works but extremely frustrating when it stops working. It could be wonderful if it consistently worked. No one can help you over the phone because it’s so complicated and it takes forever to get someone here to fix it and I’ve only had it 7 months!! It’s not working more than it works!!

### 1/5 — Not uploading

*2023-06-17, version 1.2.3*

This app is not opening once it uploads. It’s stuck in the settings with no where to open it! I just bought a Yamaha baby grand that costs $25000 with a disklavier!

### 1/5 — Not working at all

*2023-03-01, version 1.2.3*

I’m so excited to try my new piano, Yamaha gb1 disklavier. However, the app doesn’t show any list of the piano for me that I have no access to click. The app is freezes totally .
Could the company fix it asap?
Angry customer

### 1/5 — Need improvement

*2022-09-27, version 1.2.3*

Every time I would like to use it it does not work. If there is an update cannot get it back. Would you pls help.

### 1/5 — App needs help!!

*2022-09-21, version 1.2.3*

After spending over $20,000 on a grand piano, this app should be more user friendly and should actually work! I up graded my Iphone to the new iOS 16 this week and the Enspire app has not worked since. Connecting to the piano rarely works, I cannot use the record function or see the built in song play list. I’ve been in another room and the piano will start playing all on its own with no interaction from me using the app. The app then seems to freeze. The only way to stop the piano from playing is to turn off the power. Yes, I have restarted my phone and the disklavir Enspire control unit many times to see if it fixes the above issues with no change. Very disappointed!

### 1/5 — Too long to turn on.

*2022-07-03, version 1.2.3*

The controller takes too long to turn on, and after it is on, it quickly deactivates and then once again takes too long to activate once again. When placed on sleep mode, it quickly deactivates a few minutes later once again!

### 1/5 — Do not buy this piano

*2021-11-13, version 1.2.3*

This app rarely functions.

### 1/5 — A waste of money and time

*2021-06-18, version 1.2.3*

Over billed as a great accessory, this system is a real disappointment. On line music selection is pathetic, as is the wireless connectivity and utility. My expectation that this major player in the music industry had developed a tool that would enhance my ability to expand my piano experience has proven to be sadly misplaced. Customer support is non existent, and sadly 99% of the “music library” is comprised of a hodgepodge of c grade selections that nobody with ant appreciation of good music would listen to. This would have been a bad experience if it had been given to me, let alone the $ 2500 I shelled out for it. This crap is almost worthy os a class action.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Garbage App

*2025-11-20, version 1.3.0*

Disklaviers are terrible pianos. Don’t bother wasting your money. Just a brick.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-07-06, version 1.2.5*

We spent $3,500 on this controller that worked for about 2weeks! Very frustrated with Yamaha

### 1/5 — Frequently stops working - impossibe to fix

*2025-06-17, version 1.2.5*

The system is gorgeous when it works, but mine hasn't worked for months, and I have no idea why. My app can no longer detect the piano. Customer support so far has been non existent. And it's too sophisticated a system for a layman to troubleshoot. They need to do much better.

### 1/5 — Impossible to connect

*2025-05-30, version 1.2.5*

Poor app, zero connectivity. Worthless.

### 1/5 — So FRUSTRATING!

*2025-01-26, version 1.2.5*

EVERY TIME I want to use the Disklavier, it doesn’t work. If it’s M - F, I can get help. If a weekend (when we usually use it) there is no access to help. We spent SO much money for this piano and Disklavier … and I have spent SO much money for the subscription and music purchase. And cannot access when I want it!

### 1/5 — Come on Yamaha

*2024-12-23, version 1.2.5*

This app has great potential but is incredibly difficult to navigate. Yamaha go hire a developer from Spotify and make this app user friendly. Very difficult to find songs switch songs create playlists etc. if i would have known this app was so incredibly difficult i would not have just spent over $22,000 for a new Yamaha piano!! Please update or better yet start over and provide something that is not so cumbersome to use

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2024-12-18, version 1.2.5*

The app does not work on iPhone 14

### 1/5 — App Never Works

*2024-11-27, version 1.2.5*

This app never works. It constantly loses the connection or doesn’t connect. It constantly gives errors and like the other reviewers, I regret that I spent $24K on a piano with a major feature that rarely works.

### 1/5 — SAME

*2024-11-24, version 1.2.5*

Ditto to all the other one star reviews. I’m with everyone else on here that is super frustrated with a very expensive non functioning stereo system. I could have just bought a regular piano and called it good but they sold me on the upgrade. Super disappointing.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy a Yamaha piano if you are planning to use the app

*2024-10-30, version 1.2.5*

The piano is great and very expensive however the Yamaha app is a one star since there were no lower stars rating to give.
It never works don’t be fooled by the demo at the store and pay top dollar for that option.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — App Works Fine

*2026-03-29, version 1.3.0*

If there is good follow up service from the dealer you buy it from the Enspire app will work fine.

### 5/5 — Works Great!!

*2025-12-15, version 1.3.0*

Idk what the deal is with all the negative reviews, but I’ve had my new dgb1k enst for a month now and have not once had a problem. Everything works and sounds great!

### 5/5 — I am also disappointed

*2023-11-03, version 1.2.3*

It seems like the interface would be significantly better. I just got an iPhone 15 Pro and it will not recognize the piano. However, if I go to the browser and type the IP address of the piano, the phone will pull up the control. The software that comes with iPhone will not recognize the piano. Don’t try to call their helpdesk. They are about useless. Lotta money to spend for such poor service.

### 5/5 — Works great!!

*2021-07-31, version 1.2.3*

The apps works well and is reliable as long as you have the internet connection to the piano set up correctly. I was having a couple minor connection issues after delivery and spoke with the local dealer where I purchased the piano and they were able to assist me in getting everything set up as it should be. If you are having trouble connecting to the piano, talk to your local dealer where you purchased the piano!!

The app functions well and works as advertised for playback and recording.

A note for Yamaha: better compatibility with other apps would take the experience to the next level! For example, you should be able to save your recorded songs right to the files app for easy sharing.

### 5/5 — App functions perfectly.

*2021-02-12, version 1.2.0*

I use this app every day. It works perfectly and if yours is not working correctly you probably need to ask for help.

### 5/5 — Misunderstood

*2020-12-18, version 1.2.0*

Clearly, the negative reviews are from those that did not receive the support from their salesperson. In most occasions when the app cannot connect to the piano it has absolutely nothing to do with the piano or the app it is their personal internet reliability. I’ve used this app since it came out and once I was comfortable with my internet connection I never had a problem. Nothing in tech is perfect but for sure I’ve played all other player systems ( Steinway Spirio, PianoDisc, QRS) of which all have even more issues and limitations.

### 4/5 — Fussy App - That works!

*2023-06-14, version 1.2.3*

This is a quirky app, but it does what is supposed to…. With a lot of tinkering. The wifi vs Ethernet is an issue. The wifi can be hit or miss sometimes, so I fortunately plugged it in to a Ethernet connection, that was close by. The problem with the Ethernet is that if you get out of the app, it runs through the first song you are playing at quadruple speed. Then the next song starts just fine. This does not happen with the wifi version. However, the wifi version works for a bit, then there are random issues for connecting. So, the Ethernet is the way to go. Yes it works with the TV, yes it is an amazing service, yes I love Yamaha as a brand. However, they should fix their software. Very Gaijin of them to not care.

### 4/5 — New Enspire controller app is so much better than older apps

*2021-03-10*

Update Mar 2021 - iOS 14.x broke the Enspire app for many Apple devices. Yamaha updated it this week and it’s working great again. Could us a LOT of improvements, but it does make controlling the Piano pretty easy.

### 4/5 — Getting stuck please send solutions

*2020-04-21, version 1.2.0*

Please help love system but getting stuck

### 2/5 — Always a problem

*2026-05-29, version 1.3.0*

This app always has problems connecting. They should update the app to be more consistent with connection issues
