### 1/5 — Functionality being removed

*2025-07-07, version 2.4.1*

Setup was hard to follow and had Wi-Fi dialogs regularly interrupting it. Crashed multiple times for both me and sparky (possibly because unit was busy doing its own secret thing?) App itself is clunky, regularly logs me out, and doesn’t explain why it wants to know my vehicle or address. Dislike how unit itself does autonomous software updates. On the plus side, has been reliable for scheduling and controlling charge.
2025-07 after owning this unit for 2½ years, the company is withdrawing all support, including being able to control it through the app. Will never buy from them again.

### 1/5 — Installer couldn’t connect phone app to the Charger

*2025-04-22, version 2.4.1*

All electrically connected and verified all good. Powered up, found the WiFi SSID transmitted from the charger unit but couldn’t log into to it, password missing or incorrect. Installed an alternative make of charger that all connected first time.

### 1/5 — EO mini pro v2 incompatible with app?

*2025-04-18, version 2.4.1*

The app asks me to scan the QR code but my model doesn't have one so the app is useless to me

### 1/5 — Charger does not find Wi-Fi now

*2025-03-03, version 2.4.1*

Had the app for 2 years with a few issues but the charger cannot find my Wi-Fi so it has gone from an almost smart charger to a dumb one. I have to manually turn on the charger at midnight to get the cheap rate.

Helpdesk of no help

### 2/5 — Poor updated

*2024-12-23, version 2.4.1*

We were happy with the app until we purchased a Kia EV5 which is not available as a vehicle type. After contacting support I was further disappointed with their response which gas left me unsure where to go from here. Response

Updates will still be supported for the apps, we are unaware which vehicles will be added with future updates
and when they will roll out. Please keep an eye out for future updates.

Regards,
EO Technical Support

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work at all

*2024-11-30, version 2.4.1*

Rewriting what was already a 1 star review now in Dec 2024.

Had this charger and app for almost 2 years and it’s been nothing but headaches. I’m now at a point where the app doesn’t even recognise that my car is plugged in. This app and charger on several occasions now has cost me money as it’s started charging outside of the off peak charging times that I’ve set in the app. I’ve even locked the charger and it still continues to charge the car. I have to go into my car setting to delay charging until that time, which works but I shouldn’t have to. All EV chargers are required to be “smart” but this one is far from it. If it wasn’t going to cost he hundreds of £s then I’d swap to another charger because this one and it’s app are terrible.

### 1/5 — Charger and app communication problems

*2024-10-24*

It seems this is not supported anymore as getting registration error thus making the hardware useless.

Save yourself trouble by not getting an EO car charger in the first place.

### 1/5 — Avoid!

*2024-09-13, version 2.4.1*

Installed this 4 years ago and had a total nightmare with getting it up and running. It nearly ruined my conversion to EV - I was within an ace of going back to petrol. The QR code read which starts the installation failed time after time after….you get the idea. And the installation always took ages. If the charger went off line (which it frequently did at first) EO had to delete it completely from their registry to allow me to re-install it from the beginning to get it back on line. (This was their only solution and it happened so often it gave me chronic insomnia.) Altering the charge schedule involves silly toggles and chevrons that make no sense and the timing options are half hidden behind dialogue boxes. It still mysteriously goes off line for no definable reason but at least I haven’t had to re install it recently. But I was astonished to find that no update is available since 2.4.1 - come on EO surely you can improve on this. The mini pro charger itself is solid and easy to use but because of the app - AVOID please at all costs!

### 1/5 — Garbage product

*2024-08-19, version 2.4.1*

Don’t know how these are so popular. The install was done and the installer couldn’t get the app working. Support had to raise a ticket, so can’t use the socket and will need to pay for another days work. Ridiculous, EO is not a good company. Buy something better.

### 1/5 — Dreadful app for an OK charger.

*2024-07-02, version 2.4.1*

There is so much wrong with this App, starting with logging in.

If you try to log in it looks like you are setting up a new account, right down to scanning the charger.

The clock requires you to scroll through literally hundreds of options to select your own enigmatically labelled zone. Why not just go with the system setting on the phone as the first option????

Web site is dysfunctional, with one of those interfaces where logging in directs you to a Terms & Conditions page which the takes you back to the login page.

The best way to use this app is to return to charger and go with somebody else.

### 1/5 — Only one word rubbish

*2024-06-09, version 2.4.1*

No support and very very poor response. System regally fails a very poor advertisement for running application s from a raspberry pi!

### 1/5 — Extremely poor app

*2024-02-08, version 2.4.1*

I don’t think I’ve ever used an app as bad. Literally just doesn’t work 90% of the time. Awful.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2024-01-09, version 2.4.1*

Terrible app, loads of bugs. Not user friendly at all.

### 1/5 — Forgotten about

*2023-09-27, version 2.4.1*

They sold you the Chargers and then 12 months later the chargers are not supported on the new app

They don’t bother to update this app anymore and with the guide lines in place by Apple it will mean it will get removed from the store at some point

Thus meaning your EO charger is useless…

It’s all well and good taking £1500 off customers to install the charger, but they will not support it after a year it seems…

Avoid this company like the plague!

### 2/5 — Constantly logged out

*2023-09-12, version 2.4.1*

Why does the session always log out? Absolutely infuriating! It could be a couple days and it logs you out! Sort it out! There’s no banking details in here, why is the session timing out?!

### 1/5 — It’s like I’m back in 2012

*2023-05-12*

Tbh app is horrendous. The UI is poor. Nothing is really explained so you have no ide whether a schedule is set, or if a setting has been applied. Half the time it’s not even aware an EV is connected. I just connected my car and it started charging. The app thinks nothing is connected and I even “locked” the charger so that nobody can charge their car. And yet my car is still charging. And the app randomly decides to log you out at random intervals. Wish I’d gotten a different charger but now I’m several £££s in so it’s a bit late for that.

### 2/5 — Clunky but OK

*2023-01-05, version 2.4.1*

Setup was hard to follow and had Wi-Fi dialogs regularly interrupting it. Crashed multiple times for both me and sparky (possibly because unit was busy doing its own secret thing?) App itself is clunky, regularly logs me out, and doesn’t explain why it wants to know my vehicle or address. Dislike how unit itself does autonomous software updates. On the plus side, has been reliable for scheduling and controlling charge.

### 1/5 — Poorly designed app

*2022-12-30, version 2.4.1*

Had eo mini pro 2 for well over a year. I’m fed up of this app. I have to manually put in the percentage of what the vehicle is on when I plug in to see what I have got later on in the day. If I was to purchase another EV charge point I’d go somewhere else purely because of the app

### 1/5 — Shockingly Poor

*2022-10-19, version 2.4.1*

Nothing works. It didn’t retain my details which I had to enter repeatedly and it can’t detect either of the two wi-fi networks in my house. It does however give me a selection of neighbours networks. So I can’t connect as it doesn’t give an option to enter router details manually. Can’t think of a worse app I’ve used in a long time. Makes me regret getting an EO charger installed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Connectivity useless

*2026-02-17, version 2.4.1*

The app keeps failing, fault message to say can’t connect to the internet. The charger itself can’t connect to the WiFi. Such a useless system.

### 1/5 — Smart charger turned dumb

*2026-01-22, version 2.4.1*

EO have just turned off the smart capabilities of chargers installed in homes all around the country. With no compensation or compassion they’ve just dismissed their customers. The chat I had with them online about this was disgusting and came with a “we don’t care” attitude. I will never use EO for anything and didn’t consider them when leading a project to install multiple chargers at our workplace recently. Avoid!

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2026-01-12, version 2.4.1*

Stopped working. Deleted the app and reinstalled but same error message saying I need to be connected to a network…which I am

### 1/5 — Underhand don’t buy!

*2025-12-14, version 2.4.1*

Why have they stopped supporting this for their product which is just four years old? It is now just a dumb charger with no control. I would never buy EO again!

### 1/5 — Poor customer service

*2025-12-11, version 2.4.1*

No understanding of how to look after customer who have purchased their product.

### 1/5 — Mini Pro 2 Failed Regulations

*2025-12-10, version 2.4.1*

Bought my charger in 2021. What EO didn’t tell me was that it failed regulations in 2022, and would be phased out with the app no longer supported from Nov 25 onwards. Problem is that I was only notified earlier this year and naturally the guarantee had run out. Very unprofessional of this company not to replace it whilst it was under guarantee and knowing it had failed to meet UK regulations - took my money and the Government grant and left me with a useless EV charger which I am having to replace.

### 1/5 — App freezes

*2025-12-10, version 2.4.1*

Would give no stars if possible. Unfortunately you need to use this App with the EO charger - it Freezes each time I use it on my Iphone and even though I am connected to the WiFi I get a message that I am not connected to WiFi so basically can’t set it to charge. Support doesn’t care and nor does the Company. Absolutely useless. Wish I’d bought from one of their competitors who care about their customers.

### 1/5 — Very basic and freezes

*2025-09-26, version 2.4.1*

The eo is outdated and freezes on my Apple phone and there are no other alternatives

### 1/5 — App was basic, hardware support terrible

*2025-09-20, version 2.4.1*

Had the EO mini Pro 2 for over 4 years. It would fail to charge on regular basis and engineers replaced most components without improvement. Then out of warranty so stuck with temperamental unit. Now the company is removing software support, meaning it is now a dumb charger. No schedule, no app control. Thankfully ‘openeo’ exists - look on github for replacement software. Wont ever buy from EO again.

### 1/5 — Functionality being removed

*2025-08-30, version 2.4.1*

EDIT 2025-07 after owning this unit for 2½ years, the company is withdrawing all support, including being able to control it through the app. Will never buy from them again.
ORIGINAL Setup was hard to follow and had Wi-Fi dialogs regularly interrupting it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Poor reviews due to 5ghz WiFi?

*2022-04-08, version 2.3.33*

The app functionality and UI is basic but sufficient.

Note that if your EV manufacturer has it’s own app (e.g. to schedule charging and check status) then you don’t have to ever use this EO Mini app anyway.

If you do intend to use this app, it’s important to note that the EO Mini Pro charger can only connect to 2.4ghz WiFi channels.

Modern WiFi routers are usually dual-band (2.4ghz and 5ghz). Default settings on most routers will automatically toggle between the two bands.

This will cause connectivity instability with the EO Mini Pro charger.

For stable connectivity, you need to set up the charger to a dedicated 2.4ghz channel.

The best method is to configure your ‘guest’ WiFi router network as 2.4ghz only (toggle off the 5ghz channel in the WiFi router settings). Then connect the EO Mini Pro charger to your ‘guest’ WiFi network.

This is generally the case with any ‘smart’ device, like smart speakers or WiFi connected light switches etc.. ‘smart’ devices generally only work on the 2.4ghz channel. If connected to a default settings dual-band WiFi router, you'll experience unstable connectivity.

Your ‘smarter’ devices (phones, tablets, pc etc) will work best when connected to your main WiFi network, with both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels enabled.

### 5/5 — What’s the problem?

*2021-03-22, version 2.3.21*

I see all the terrible reviews, so was a little nervous ahead of my installation. But to be honest, for what I want, i can’t see any issues with the app. It lets me see the current charge rate/status, it estimates how long is left to charge, depending on your car make/model, it lets me set charging schedules, and off-peak tarried schedules... and I can manually start/stop a charge. Based on that.. it’s a 5* review from me. Basic but functional. (I’ll update if I hit issues). Charge history info is basic, but that’s not a problem for me.

### 5/5 — Much improved - thanks for listening EO

*2020-11-23*

Whilst the app was flawed and not well conceived, changes made since Sept ‘20 have improved it appreciably. The EO smart hub has always been excellent but let down by the app. Now the app is meeting the same standards.
We used to have problems with the app not recognising the car was connected, and not charging when we expected. The recent update has solved this. We also have solar panels and had issues if wanting to pause when cloud cover hampered generation. It would restart at 30A, not now, it now restarts with solar generation if scheduled to do so.
Thanks for listening EO.

### 4/5 — No problem

*2022-01-28, version 2.3.33*

It’s been very good, caused me no problems at all, I like basic, mind you I have no other to gauge it by. I get all the information I need and most important it works!

### 4/5 — Basic, but it does what’s needed and is reliable

*2021-08-23, version 2.3.31*

The app is basic with an uninspiring look and UI. But, it controls the charger fine. In fact, in combination with the EO back-end, it processes commands to the charger quickly and reliably - e.g. to initiate a charge immediately, overriding the scheduled charge you’ve setup. EO is still a small company and I think this is a reasonable effort from them. Could it be better? - yes, but it’s more than adequate.

### 4/5 — Perfectly Adequate

*2021-06-19, version 2.3.28*

I’m surprised to see so many negative reviews as other than the basic appearance of the app it is functional for all I need from an EV charger.

The app was easy to setup when the charger was installed. It has been 100% reliable so far (only had it installed a week).

From the app I can monitor charger status, start/stop/lock the charger and schedule charging (including solar charging).

Would be nice to have the option to disable solar if less than X Amps being generated.

I was concerned prior to the Install having seen all the negative reviews so I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

### 3/5 — Charger and app communication problems

*2024-11-09, version 2.4.1*

It seems this is not supported anymore as getting registration error thus making the hardware useless.

The physical charger itself works well, however it is let down with the app only interface. The app itself are fairly rudimentary, but functional.

The only interaction with your charger is through their cloud based server and that is where the real frustrations start. It frequently says the charger is offline, needing to reset wifi settings. It lack a direct UI based interface for these episodes or for when wifi services are down.

### 3/5 — Works, but has annoying defects

*2022-07-28, version 2.3.34*

The app does work in that it lets you start, stop schedule and monitor a charging session, and enable or disable the charger.

However, there are quite a few annoying problems with the app including:

There is no way to set target charge level in the app. We usually charge to 80% and the car is set to stop charging at that level, so the app’s “charge time remaining” is always wrong.
When starting the app and logging in, the app doesn’t save or automatically retrieve username and password from the Safari saved logins list. We can retrieve the username and password from the list manually, but it would be more convenient if the app did it automatically.
When setting Charing Options, the Save button is enabled all the time. It should be disabled when there is no change to save. The app should ask to save changes when swiping away from the Charging Options page.
When two people share an EV, charge point and EO account, with the app on 2 iPhones there are some annoying problems.

When changing Charging Options or making any changes to the charging controls on one phone, changes are not displayed on the other phone until the user logs out and in again. There should be an automatic update for multiple logins on the same account, or at least a swipe down refresh in the app to retrieve the current charger settings.
When starting charging, the Initial Charge level set on one phone never comes up on the other, despite logging out and in again, restarting the app. This means that 2nd user never gets an accurate estimate of charge time remaining.

### 3/5 — Not bad but could be better

*2022-05-26, version 2.3.34*

Using this app during the day and with solar has been fine. But on the rare occasion I use it overnight there is always an issue mainly around a failure to charge or only charge briefly.
One improvement should be to the time zone setting. Why is this needed? If the app takes the time from the network why is there a requirement for the user to set the tome zone. Also the list of time zones are not in alphabetical order and, in the UK, I’m unsure about setting to Western European Time, GMT, GMT Standard Time, etc. If the app displayed the current time according to the set time zone, I could compare it to the present time which would make setting it easier.

### 3/5 — It works

*2022-03-05, version 2.3.33*

Look, the app just about works, it does what it needs to do.

1 request. Can you add pull to refresh on the site and session tab? I have to force quit the app to find updated site consumption and solar readings.
