### 4/5 — Great when it works

*2025-06-26, version 2.18*

Almost every time I start it up, it claims I don’t have an active subscription. I do. I then have to connect to another network with internet access in order for it realise that, before reconnecting to the lighting network. Very tedious.
The support website doesn’t exist so there’s no way to ask for help. Bit disappointing as once it eventually works, it does a great job.

### 2/5 — Good app but subscription issue

*2025-02-20, version 2.18*

Love the app and it’s capabilities. The only thing that I dislike as of now is the fact the app checks for subscription whenever I open it. Sometimes I am already on my local network and it’s slows me down immensely to have to swap networks and restore the subscription. Especially when I may not have access to the venue’s internet at the moment the app asks for a subscription. Frustrating.

### 3/5 — Wenn sie stabil wär, wär sie toll

*2024-09-20*

### 3/5 — Eos Remote

*2024-04-10, version 2.14*

As a programmer, this is a valuable tool, but it seems to be missing 1 key ingredient. There is no live table to be found. I still have not found a way to reference feedback from a fixture. A live table or live summary would be necessary for this to function on a movie set!

### 5/5 — Great app. Wish I could buy it out right.

*2023-05-14, version 2.10.1*

Awesome app, I just wish it could be bought without a subscription. The app keeps losing my license data and I need to connect back to wifi to get it working and then back to my rfr router. Can be a pain sometimes, but other then that it’s flawless

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2023-02-07, version 2.9.2*

I love this app! Great layout, I haven’t imported a magic sheet yet but once my plot gets finalized I will! I love that it feels very user friendly and familiar.

I was pretty bummed to not be able to record, but then I found the setting to turn that on! I also super appreciate the quick flashlight button on the top left. Thanks for making a great app for when I’m up in the air!

### 5/5 — Great Remote

*2023-01-12, version 2.8*

Recently switched to this from iRFR. So far have zero complaints and it seems like it’s only added features without taking out any of the capabilities of the official app. Love it

Are there any plans to opt-in to Apple Silicon compatibility? Even the ios app alone without changes would be super useful to have on a laptop down on stage

### 5/5 — Pretty solid, needs refinement

*2022-04-22, version 2.6.2*

Ok I love this app. The keypad layout is great, and most things about this app just make more sense compared to the official app by ETC. One thing I would like to see is a fine adjustment option for the encoders as the current increment is too course. Also, the cue list should get the info of the current cue from Eos and highlight it, instead of it having to take priority.

### 5/5 — Best Eos Remote by Far

*2022-02-14, version 2.6.1*

Great remote and excellent support from the developer! Thanks so much!

### 5/5 — Best Remote EOS App

*2022-01-31, version 2.6.1*

Such a easy and awesome app! Highly recommend. Better than IRFR app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-11-13, version 2.18*

Unfortunately I can no longer access this app. It says my subscription payment has failed. I tried to renew it and it won’t allow me to renew the subscription and the support address leads to a dead website. Very disappointed as the app was great when it worked.

### 1/5 — Abandoned

*2025-11-09, version 2.18*

This app appears to be abandoned and isn’t functional anymore (at least in Canada). It cannot connect to eos without a paid subscription, but no in-app subscriptions are available. The developer website shows a wix.com error page.

### 1/5 — Can’t subscribe

*2025-10-17, version 2.18*

Great app but no longer works due to subscription issue.

### 1/5 — Tried to get a subscription

*2025-10-14, version 2.18*

Trying to get a sub for the service as it looks really good unable to find it anywhere their website is down as well so don’t even bother downloading it. You can’t use it.

### 1/5 — Can’t Subscribe

*2025-10-09, version 2.18*

I can’t subscribe to the app because there is no purchase option. The only option is to adjust my current subscription. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it the app?

### 1/5 — LAN issue

*2024-05-22, version 2.14*

When I’m paying 30$ per year for this app, and best practice is to use a lighting console in an environment without internet access, having the app constantly trying to check if I have the subscription becomes a barrier for use. Each time I want to use it, I have to remember to turn off WiFi/or switch networks, load the app, hit “restore purchases”, then again reconnect to the lan network my console is on, and then finally I can use it. There has got to be a way for it to check maybe once a month? Maybe have it check in, and if the user has a valid subscription, set a variable in the app to the date their subscription would expire or renew. If the app sees the variable and the date stored in the variable has not been reached, keep it enabled. If the variable has a date that has passed, for it to check if the subscription has been renewed and update the variable. That way, you only need to check in with the server every once in a while

### 1/5 — $$$$$$$$$

*2024-04-19*

### 1/5 — Useless if using LAN

*2023-06-05, version 2.12.1*

It used to be great. I don’t know what update this happened in but now it’s incredible frustrating and useless on a job site using a local area network. It wants to check for a subscription randomly every 5 to 20 minutes now and if it can’t (i.e. not connected to the internet because you’re on a LAN with the console) it disconnects. You’ll have to leave the app, reconnect to the internet, go back into the app, restore purchases, leave the app again, go back to your local network, go back to the app, and reconnect with the console every time. Been using this app for years with the monthly subscription and never had this issue until now. Beware if using a local area network

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2022-05-08, version 2.6.2*

Can’t get it to connect to 2 separate venues and their respective consoles. WiFi is on the same network, IP address and all respective remote and OSC settings are where they need to be. Just gives me the “network is down” error message.

### 2/5 — Subscription error

*2025-10-17, version 2.13.3*

I am also experiencing the issue of not being able to renew my subscription. Is the app no longer in service?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Rest In Peace, Trent Barclay

*2026-06-22, version 2.18*

This was an amazing app. The fact that it was made by a sole developer who originally created it primarily to use for himself as a lighting technician, and yet it so throughly blows the official ETC RFR app out of the water is truly incredible. This was the industry go-to for a time.

Many people likely do not know this, but that developer, Trent Barclay, passed away in January of 2025 after a tough battle with cancer, leaving behind a loving wife and newborn daughter.

I think it is unlikely anyone else will ever take over the development of this app. So before you download this app, you should know that it is unsupported and understand that it will continue to become increasingly less usable over time. It is not because the developers do not care. It is because he is no longer with us.

Please use a different app and do not review this app poorly due to its unsupported nature. It is an insult to the legacy of a brilliant and talented industry professional who helped all of us in this field so much by sharing this amazing app he created.

I never knew him, but for a while my life was a little better because he was in the world.

Rest in peace.

### 5/5 — Incredible!

*2025-10-28, version 2.18*

This app was amazing! Way better than ETC’s. I’m sorry to hear about the creator’s passing. RIP. This app has been my right hand for so many shows. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Please fix i really need this app !!!!

*2025-10-23, version 2.18*

Can’t sub Please fix or remove the pay wall

### 5/5 — Loved This App

*2025-10-16, version 2.18*

I’ve used this app loads of times, but unfortunately I didn’t get it on my personal iPad in time. The developer, Trent Barclay, unfortunately passed away earlier this year. Apple also removed this app from the store for new downloads, and the developer’s website has been taken down. Thank you for a wonderful app, Mr. Barclay, may you rest in peace.

### 5/5 — No Longer Can Subscribe!

*2025-10-14, version 2.18*

I absolutely LOVE this app and have used it as my primary go-to for many shows. Just started setting up for a new production and can’t re-subscribe or get the app going again. (Seems like same bug as another reviewer sadly) Please help!

### 5/5 — Doesn’t work anymore

*2025-10-08, version 2.18*

I have LOVED this app since I discovered it. However, the bug where it asks you to check for subscription started happening to me. Today, right before programming I tried to do it again but it completely stopped working. I had to uninstall the app, try again, and nothing. I had to cancel my subscription, and now it won’t even let me resume the subscription. I hope this gets resolved soon as I love this app, and it’s so sad I can’t use it anymore… :(

### 5/5 — The best app for the eps family desks

*2024-04-29, version 2.14*

I used this app daily personally as a tech but also implemented it into a venue throughout the iPads. The use of magic sheets is incredible too

### 5/5 — Works perfectly

*2023-11-05, version 2.13.3*

This app is much better than iRFR. This is a must get app for any eos users. I recommend using in console mode with record options turned on. The app provides most, if not all the functionality of the eos family software.

This app is perfect for those that use ETC Nomad and a great controller for those who have a console. It makes day to day jobs much easier.
Highly recommend

### 5/5 — A Must-Have for EOS Family Production Houses

*2023-07-18, version 2.13.2*

Not just a completely mobile Ion console in your hand, this app is easily navigable by Production Electricians, Programmers and LD’s alike.

I’d like to give a special shout-out to the developer, Trent, for speedy and effective “out-of-the-box” Tech Support to get us up and running in minutes. Sealed the “should I subscribe” deal for me!

### 5/5 — This app for Eos

*2023-06-01, version 2.12*

I absolutely loveee this app. It has saved me so much time and error.
