### 2/5 — Missing arrow

*2026-05-30, version 4.6.0*

The last update removed the arrow on the meter.

### 2/5 — Want a widget and better pollutant breakdown

*2026-04-27, version 4.5.0*

I would love a widget like what IQAir has, where you can see current and forecasted air quality at a glance. Also, I’d like to see a ppm breakdown for individual pollutants in addition to the bundled AQI.

### 2/5 — Eli

*2025-12-14, version 4.4.0*

Suddenly app became totally unresponsive and useless.

### 3/5 — Mid

*2025-11-18, version 4.3.1*

Great when it works

### 3/5 — Not responsive since last update

*2025-09-23, version 4.2.1*

For whatever reason it takes forever (>1 min) to boot up. Not a reliable source of info for me right now. Do better.

### 1/5 — It no longer works

*2025-09-02, version 4.2.1*

Remember who did this…$ cuts?

### 3/5 — Has the app stoped working ?

*2025-08-22, version 4.2.1*

Did they kill the app ?

### 1/5 — Blank screen

*2025-08-13, version 4.2.1*

Latest update crashed the app. I see a blank screen.

### 2/5 — Widgets?

*2025-08-03, version 4.1.0*

I hate that my state app was retired. This has no widgets to I have to take the time to open the app and tap around to find out what’s up. I’m not even sure if the EPA is maintaining the app anymore with the massive layoffs.

### 1/5 — Hardly works

*2025-07-15, version 4.1.0*

Smoke map shows nothing most times,
Forecasts are unreliable as they change all the time and are not consistent.
The forecast discussion is not very useful, and it never recommends to wear a respirator ever.
And anything about 30 should be in the yellow and not green.

### 2/5 — Almost useless

*2025-06-28, version 4.1.0*

I’m a pretty flexible person but this app is seriously lacking in all aspects. I don’t even know if the information is accurate or relevant. It’s such a low quality experience

### 1/5 — Broken

*2025-06-08, version 4.1.0*

Notifications do not work.

### 2/5 — Broken garbage

*2025-06-01, version 4.1.0*

smoke plumes only show intermittently and even the regular map just spins and won't load for days now. Why have an app if you don't maintain it? Embarrassing performance and attention to detail. Uninstalling

### 3/5 — Wish list

*2025-05-08, version 4.0.6*

I’m thankful for this app. I’m sensitive to PM 2.5. So sensitive that at 25 or above I have to wear a mask to go outside.
Wish list:
1. Set which one shows on the screen as default PM 2.5 instead of Ozone.
2. Set a value for notifications. So if my PM 2.5 threshold is 24 the app would send an alert when it reaches that value.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Barely updates in real time anymore

*2025-12-31, version 4.4.0*

Not worth checking, the information is not as real time and loading issues have been really persistent the past few months in particular. Don’t recommend for real time updates

### 1/5 — Not working!

*2025-12-17, version 4.4.0*

What’s up? Why is the app not working? I redownloaded the app it won’t take any locations!

### 1/5 — ""An error occurred

*2025-10-10, version 4.3.1*

Cannot read property 'reportingArea'

### 1/5 — No Longer Accurate

*2025-09-29, version 4.3.0*

The current US administration does not believe in science, healthcare, climate issues or accurate reporting of any data. So unfortunately this application no longer works. Seek alternative information from your local weather stations outside of the “fox” branding if you want accurate details on the forecast. Most are going to a triangular approach. This means they are taking data from 3 points, taking the average and using it as the hourly AQI. It’s the best we now have unfortunately.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2025-09-26, version 4.2.1*

Have used this app for a few years, but recently it has stopped working. I rely on this information and am disappointed that it’s no longer accessible

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-09-20, version 4.2.1*

The app constantly returns the message “can’t read” when I type in my location. After several tries, I gave up an deleted the App. Apparently, EPA stopped providing the data ?

### 1/5 — What’s up?

*2025-09-20, version 4.2.1*

This was a 5- star app but it stopped working. What’s up?

### 1/5 — Broken app?

*2025-09-19, version 4.2.1*

This used to be a great informative app. But for months now it doesn’t work. It won’t even open. Was it part of the ridiculous Trump cuts?

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2025-09-08, version 4.2.1*

Stopped working recently no updates available

### 1/5 — Hasn’t worked for a while now

*2025-09-06, version 4.2.1*

Website works fine but seem to have let the app go? Makes no sense. Fix the app please!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — AirNow provides critical air quality information

*2026-06-26*

After not working for a while last year, this app is updating again and providing critical information. I check it multiple times a day because I have asthma. It’s the only app I’ve found that provides actual measurements of ozone and PM10, rather than relying on modeled estimates, which can be less accurate than direct measurements.

Your experience with the app will likely depend on your state’s own air quality reporting, since AirNow draws on data from state monitoring networks.

Please keep this app updated!!!

### 5/5 — Great air quality monitor

*2025-10-07*

This is one of those apps that I use every day. I check it every morning before exercising to see what the air quality is. They seem to continually update the app and make it better in time.
I don’t have any complaints about the app and find it very useful and reliable

### 5/5 — Awesome Air Quality Tracker

*2025-09-20*

This app is highly accurate, and super user friendly. Being an asthmatic (and living in the PNW), I have to pay attention to all the fires and smoke warnings. This app has helped me so much!! I’ve literally used it to move to safer locations indicated by the app, when surviving all these fires and the smoke that floods the area.

### 5/5 — Please respond. Something’s wrong?

*2025-08-29, version 4.2.1*

Suddenly, the app is glitchy- slow to load, data is missing, won’t refresh, can’t see other locations.
I have used this app for years. What’s up?

### 5/5 — Assists healthy living

*2025-07-31, version 4.1.0*

I really appreciate this data. The air may seems OK for outdoor exercise. Instead of being moderate, it can actually be unhealthy at 187. it helps to quantify to make healthy choices.

### 5/5 — AirNow vs Weather Channel; air quality

*2025-07-25, version 4.1.0*

AirNow, *in my opinion is more accurate than the weather channel app. Both are similar, but AirNow *seemingly is far more accurate.

### 5/5 — Great air quality monitor

*2025-03-26*

I really appreciate having this app. I check it out every morning before going outside to work out and it reflects well the current weather conditions so I can avoid being outside when air quality is poor.

### 5/5 — Love this!

*2023-07-10, version 2.1.0*

This is a very helpful app that includes forecasts for air quality. It updates every hour and is specific to your location.

### 5/5 — Great

*2023-06-29*

I found the app to be clear and easy to use. There are many sensors in the field of varying quality so yes there are different numbers as another reviewer has noted.. The app descriptions are clear that local conditions can also vary in signficant ways.
It pullls together an excellent overall picture of the current Canadian fire smoke problems of late June 2023.

### 5/5 — This is what it looks like when the government works!

*2023-06-09*

Easy to use app that provides you (potentially) life saving information. Too often, government apps are a cluttered mess of information that is difficult to comprehend and use quickly. This app, on the other hand, perfectly displays what you need yo know an the opening screen, and allows you to easily get additional (location based) information if you want it. More agencies need to model this app for how to get information to the public.
