Sad they can’t get this right. ### 2/5 — As a software designer *2023-04-16, version 2.16.0* There is nothing special about this app. Content as available on a number of other platforms. Most of which offer superior performance and user experience. Now, I come here for a major complaint/feature request: PLEASE enable Picture in Picture for iPad and iOS. This is a make of break feature for many users. ### 2/5 — Great Cable Service - Horrible App *2022-12-23, version 2.13.0* We dropped our boxes for this app about two years ago. It has been ceaseless aggravation and mind-boggling issues ever since. From the horrendous stability issues to recordings just disappearing or just not recording, I can’t decide on which bug is worse. The sound goes off sync randomly, the recorded program locks up and forces you to force quit the app before it will work again, there are way too many issues to list. EPB is a great cable provider with fantastic customer service, but this app is so insanely frustrating. I want it to work correctly so badly; I just don’t have much faith anymore. ### 3/5 — Needs improvement *2022-03-23, version 2.2.0* Color and sharpness on live, local channels are very low quality. But my biggest want is a PIP option, particularly for tablet viewing. This is the only streaming app (of five I use regularly) that has only a full screen option. ### 2/5 — Flickers *2021-03-20, version 1.26.0* I love the EPBFi on my television, but the EPBFi on my Samsung tablet flickers. It usually only does it when I am watching a show I DVR’d but today I was watching the golf channel and it was flickering. I give it 5 stars on my TV but 2 on my tablet ### 2/5 — Dec 2020 update needs to be fixed *2021-01-19, version 1.26.0* The only way to avoid scrolling through 300 channels was to use the “Recently Viewed” section. It held up to 15 recently viewed channels and shows that you paused or replayed. If you then played or fast forwarded to the end of the program, that show would be removed from the “Recently Viewed” section. Since the Dec 2020 update, that section fills up with shows you might have watched for 5 minutes, 15 minute or 15 seconds (it seems random). Now, out of the 15 holding places, 9 are shows I don’t ever want to watch again and 6 are channels. You can’t get rid of these place holders the old way and when you try by watching or fast forwarding to the end, it no longer causes them to disappear. So now instead of 15 channels to choose from I usually have 5 or 6. I would not recommend you choose this streaming service over their regular service unless given no choice. Awful update! ### 3/5 — AppleTV upgrade is the worst *2021-01-12, version 1.26.0* I love EPBfi, however since the upgrade a couple of months ago it is horrible. It is constantly spinning, skipping, and forget about going from one tv to another and being at the same place in the show or even on the same episode. There are times I wished I had not given up my box: FiTV AppleTV has the potential to be great. ### 3/5 — iPhone 12 support? *2020-11-01, version 1.23.0* Not optimized for iPhone 12. I try to record new shows and it shows they are scheduled but they never show up on the recordings. This is quite frustrating ### 1/5 — EPB FItv for iPhone app *2020-06-13, version 1.23.0* Something has happened in the last 3 weeks. It no longer loads on my phone. It gives a message that the app is updating. But it’s been 3 weeks : ( ### 1/5 — Will not load *2020-06-04, version 1.23.0* I have had several instances where this app will not load on my iPad and/or my iPhone. Sometimes it says it’s updating, but mostly it just says they are working on it...try again later. Very frustrating. ### 1/5 — Love my EPB but... *2020-05-26, version 1.23.0* I love everything about my EPB Fiber Optics. The network, the speed and the customer service is second to none. However... the FiTV Apple TV app is the absolute worst. Constant skipping and going back and repeating 1 to 2 seconds prior and there are no controls for going forward or back in 10 to 15 seconds. The pause hangs and kicks you out of the app. This app needs to go back to the drawing board. But, I have confidence that EPBFi will get it done. ### 2/5 — Sound Quality Needs Improvement *2020-03-02, version 1.21.0* I moved to EPB Fi TV as soon as I could bring very excited to lose the cable box. I use a couple Apple TV devices. I especially notice audio issues on my 4K Apple TV. It sounds like the speaker is playing directly into a running box fan...you know the robot voice echo...on the higher channels (Silver and Gold tier). I have called EPB customer service and also spoke with some folks at the Home Show. I was told to adjust my audio settings. I have researched and read where other streaming apps have had similar issues in prior versions. I really hope the programmers can get this fixed quickly. I am starting to consider YouTubeTV. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Hot garbage *2026-05-09, version 2.41.0* All of these years later and the AppleTV app still studders and buffers, despite having EPB 1gig service with a premium router. Do better, EPB. Your internet may be awesome, but your TV app sucks. ### 1/5 — Worse service, higher price *2026-01-19, version 2.35.1* I’ve been an EPB customer for over a decade, both internet and TV. A couple of years ago as my DVR cable box died I was forced to switch to EPBFiTV. Do not be fooled. It’s awful. The guide constantly stalls or shows “to be determined” messages, you can’t always pause live TV and come back to watch later, even when you record a program and extend it sometimes you lose the programming, I could go on and on….i had zero, zero issues with EPB cable/DVR….the FiTV is a complete disaster, and frankly a scam/waste of money. I’ve been told by a customer service representative that it’s intentional…they want to get away from “television” and force us to the streaming services exclusively. EPB used to be the hometown service that was better. Now it’s just like Mayor Kelly…sweet talk and horrible results. ### 1/5 — It’s the worst. *2023-09-10, version 2.16.0* Zero stars. ### 1/5 — Finicky *2023-03-05, version 2.13.0* I’ve been using this on Apple TV. The app itself takes a long time to load. When it does finally load the guide, it’s been at least two minutes. If you start watching a recording before everything has loaded, it immediately switches to live tv once everything has loaded. Swiping left and right to change channels doesn’t always register and when it does respond you’ve gone three channels too far. HD recordings are shown in, let’s be honest, not SD but certainly not HD either. It’s grainy. It’s so frustrating, especially for the amount of money I’m paying for this service. Please, EPB, fix the system before you lose customers. ### 1/5 — Not really “live” tv *2022-09-12, version 2.11.0* We’ve had this service for a couple of years now and it’s so laggy and slow. Also if you like sports you are minutes behind live tv. People will text me about plays and scores and games and I’m so behind I don’t even know what they are talking about. Search results seem to be returned in no particular order and you have to click through too many screens to find out air-times. The app is generally difficult to navigate and counter-intuitive ### 1/5 — Switchover incentive *2020-10-11, version 1.23.0* I just talked with your customer support person in an attempt to decide if I wanted to switch to streaming instead of boxes. As of right now there is no benefit for me to switch over. If you want people to begin switching some sort of incentive plan would be nice for your current customers. ### 1/5 — We reboot almost every day.... *2020-06-25, version 1.23.0* I decided to go all streaming and regret the day I cancelled DirecTV. This app has to constantly be restarted, unplugged and deleted. I hope I never move and have go back to the Stone Age of coax cable and boxes. ### 5/5 — READ THIS FIRST!! *2019-08-20, version 1.17.0* Originally I posted a one star review because I wasted a bit of time trying to load and launch the app which the developers failed to note had actually not yet released. That turned out to be fortunate. On July 22 when it was released, I contacted online support and signed up after speaking with a very knowledgeable customer service named Amy. She had me up and running on my pads, phones and two smart TVs very quickly. And, since we could return our set top boxes, we saved close to $30/ month! I returned the old equipment the next day and the following day a customer rep dropped off a Firestick4K for our two older HDTVs. This FI service is excellent! Our high definition picture on all the TVs seems improved and the recording process is much improved since you can restart any show immediately and even go back three days to begin an older show you failed to record. We absolutely love this over the set top box approach. If the developers are listening, the only thing we would like added is a favorites menu. With features like recording and ability to access on multiple devices it has made TV fit our lives vs our life fitting around TV. Thus watching TV has become a more enjoyable for my family. Plenty of streams available for my house with many TVs. Little to no buffering experienced on both WiFi and cat5 connection. My only suggestion is to allow us to stream Live TV anywhere, i.e., outside of our own network. ### 4/5 — Almost there... *2020-04-18, version 1.21.0* The app looks good, the experience is good, but two things are holding it back. One is no support for HomePod, which means a less immersive experience Another is the resolution, it doesn’t seem to be 4K on the TV app. I wish we could get those features soon! Update: definition seems to be going up, I don’t think at 4K yet but it appears to be at 1920p consistently. The only problem is the app is not optimized for an iPhone 11 Pro Max, the buttons to use the app are off the bottom of the screen and can not be accessed, but other than that this is wonderful.
