## What is Ephemeral Trace?

Photos that delete themselves.

Ephemeral Trace is a private camera for photos and videos that only need to exist for a while. Choose an expiry before you shoot. Each capture counts down, then deletes itself when time runs out.

No cloud. No account. No tracking.

SET THE TIMER BEFORE YOU SHOOT

Choose 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 24 hours. Pro adds custom timers up to one year and Keep Forever when a photo really should stay.

TIME, MADE VISIBLE

Every capture has a live countdown and a decay ring that empties as time runs out. Short timers burn hot. Long ones run cool. If a capture expires while you are looking at it, it flares once and dissolves.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

• No accounts
• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No cloud storage or servers
• No crash reporting
• Photo Library access is Add Only. The app can save a photo when you ask, but it cannot read your existing library.

Your media stays on your iPhone.

ENCRYPTED, THEN GONE

Captures live in the app's private storage, protected by iOS Data Protection. When a timer ends, the file and its encryption key are removed together.

Captures are excluded from iCloud and iTunes backups, so a capture does not outlive its timer inside a backup. There is no trash, Recently Deleted folder, or undo path.

**LIVE DECAY RINGS**
Every thumbnail wears a ring that empties in real time, with a live countdown beside it. No more guessing — you can see exactly how long each capture has left, at a glance.

**TIME AS TEMPERATURE**
Short timers burn hot. Long ones run cool. Keep Forever stays calm. Each capture holds the color of its own lifespan from the moment you shoot it, so urgency is something you see rather than read. The capture button previews the color your next shot will get.

**EMBER DISSOLVE**
When a capture's time runs out, it flares once and dissolves. If it expires while you're looking at it, you get to watch it go.

**FOLDER COLORS**
Give each folder its own identity color — six to choose from. The color carries through to the folder card and to the folder pill on the camera, so you always know where you're shooting.

**LONG-PRESS QUICK ACTIONS**
Press and hold any item in the gallery, in Uncategorized, or inside a folder to extend its timer, change its expiry, move it, share it, save it to Photos, or delete it. No more entering select mode to act on one photo.

**REDESIGNED THROUGHOUT**
Gallery, folders, preview, settings, and onboarding have all been rebuilt on a new design system. Countdowns are monospaced so they never jitter. Navigation is smoother, with the interactive swipe-back gesture restored across every screen.

**YOUR TRACE**
Statistics has been rewritten around what you've let go of rather than what you've stored, with a breakdown of the lifespans currently in your library.

**LANGUAGE POLISH**
Timers, countdowns, and durations now render correctly in every supported language, with proper pluralization. Custom timer presets follow your device language instead of freezing at whatever language you created them in.

Remember Last Camera Settings
Your camera now picks up right where you left off. New "Remember Last" options let you persist your last used camera position (front/back), flash mode, and grid visibility between sessions — or lock in a specific default if you prefer consistency. Configure it all in Camera Settings → Startup Behavior.
