Epic Ear connects listening, notation, and the piano keyboard in one music-learning experience.

Go beyond repeating sounds. See what you heard on the staff, find it on the keyboard, and build musical understanding with your ears, eyes, and hands.

Start even if you are new to music

Learn the staff, clefs, note names, rhythm, intervals, chords, progressions, and scales step by step. Guided scenes combine clear explanations with listening and hands-on interaction.

Explore the relationship between the keyboard, sound, notation, and harmony in the new Playground.

- Play freely across the E2–A5 range with a horizontally scrollable keyboard.
- See played or selected notes immediately on the grand staff.
- Use `Real-time` mode for immediate sound, or `Select Notes` mode to build and play multiple notes together.
- View each note's interval from the lowest note in a clear visual graph.
- Select three or more notes to see the chord name and possible alternative interpretations.
- Switch between sharp and flat spellings.
- Navigate piano keys with VoiceOver and enjoy improved audio playback reliability.

All existing ear-training features remain available.

This v1.2 update focuses on faster training starts and a more comfortable, reliable playback experience.

- Faster training starts
  - Playback now begins as soon as the first training loop is ready, while the remaining audio is prepared progressively in the background.
  - Scrolling and controls stay responsive while additional loops are being prepared.

- Flexible spoken guidance
  - Choose `Brief`, `Detailed`, or `Off` for spoken explanations in Sound settings.
  - Detailed explanations are given enough complete four-beat bars so the ending is not cut off.

- Improved background playback controls
  - Play and pause are more reliable from Control Center, the Lock Screen, and Dynamic Island.
  - Training that you paused stays paused after audio from another app ends.

- Continue Training
  - Restart recently played training directly from the Home screen.
  - The in-app Stop button now ends the training completely and clears both the playback panel and system playback information.

- Better controls and accessibility
  - Bottom scrolling space is now consistent across training screens so the playback panel does not cover the last item.
  - VoiceOver announces metronome, piano, and guidance volume by name and adjusts each in 5% steps.
  - Tempo step buttons and playback panel transitions have been refined.
