I even invested in the Ent character for my avatar. Now the graphics are so broken it’s unusable. No longer maintained. So sad. ### 2/5 — Once a decent app *2022-10-12, version 1.78* I finally filled a quest I’d waited on for years to fill, and while it may have been an i5 or something I want my 3k XP! Haha. Seriously though this app is broken and only gets two stars from nostalgia, if it’s still a paid app it should be removed since it is literally unusable. The UI is completely broken, makes little sense and impossible to get two/three screens deep before reaching a series of boxes with no labeling/etc. ### 2/5 — iPhone mistakes *2022-10-10, version 1.78* I do love this app, really. I used it in my galaxy for over a year before I had to switch to iOS. The second I tried to use the same app on this phone, it was a mess. Text boxes don’t line up where they need to, task lists overlap so you can’t tap rosary’s order read full tasks. It’s very poorly fitted over and makes it unusable. I hope this issue one day improves, till then I’m back to paper. ### 3/5 — Would love to see this app make a comeback! *2022-07-30, version 1.78* I have been searching for other RPG style to-do list apps recently, and I’ve downloaded a handful of them but none of them hold a candle to what EpicWin was. It was my favorite app for years and years and legitimately kept me on track far more than your boring, sterilized business-like to-do list apps. The art, sound, everything was just so good. But I guess they’ve move on to bigger and better things, because now it’s not usable at all. The whole interface is horribly broken. I just wish they would come back with a refresh and update it for modern phones. Three stars for having loved it in the past, but not being usable in the present. It’s garbage and doesn’t work since it hasn’t been supported since 2015. It’s not even that the tasks won’t work it’s that none of the buttons line up anymore so you have to press all over the screen to finally find where the actual button is. It only shows 1/4 of the character because it just glitches out. I couldn’t even get 1 task added. It has a great concept but they aren’t supporting it anymore so it doesn’t work. They are just scamming people to keep it in the App Store. If you look at the privacy policy you’ll see it’s says it’s “in the owners trash” and the only positive reviews are people that used it years ago when it was supported. ### 2/5 — iPhone 12 Mini UI is currently jacked up *2020-12-09, version 1.78* Happy to email some screenshots but it’s basically unusable. Bummer too. I’ve heard great things. Will open it up a couple more times within the month and hope it gets solved. The ugliest crock of crap I’ve ever seen. *2020-10-03, version 1.76* It’s a disaster. Look how disconnected the theme is to the audiences who might otherwise want to use it. You’re trying to force combine two completely polar opposite audiences. If people want to game, they will game. At least match the design, brand, and everything in the app to the actual audience of ‘taskers’. How many gamers do you feel would even spend a second using this? Not many. Hence the massive attrition. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — De-list this already *2023-11-19* Disclaimer: I think I bought the Epic Win app over a decade ago, while we were still on iPhone 4 or 5; and at the time, it did everything it was supposed to. Epic Win got me though grad school and made setting goals engaging. I loved this app. But, it hasn’t been usable in years. It hasn’t worked on the last few phones I’ve upgraded through. I don’t remember seeing the UX actually working after the last posted fix date. I can look back fondly on this, and I would even support a reasonable-cost update from the creators — nothing else in this space looks or feels as good as Epic Win — but it’s unethical to charge money for something that’s been abandoned and will not work. Supermono & Rex, if you gave up on maintaining this, just take it down. ### 1/5 — Broken *2022-12-15, version 1.78* Is completely unusable doesn’t fit the screen at all. I’m not asking for an entire rework, but it’s a shame the developers haven’t updated this app in a long time. It’s such a great and simple concept but it’s an amazing app to get things done. Doesn’t even work anymore. Had this app for like 6 years and now it’s unusable. The whole screen is screwed up and you can’t even see what buttons you’re pressing on. Even if you tried it’d be near impossible to use. Sad this app with such potential has just wasted away to nothing. Since its developer stopped updating Epic Win, I’ve had to move on and use other To Do-type apps. It’s been years now and I still miss Epic Win. No other app has come close to bringing me as much joy in completely mundane — and epic — tasks. Original review: I have been using EpicWin for five years now -- that's longer than my current relationship! While the app has its quirks and sometimes there are bugs, I am always impressed with the original "prizes" and I really love beating up my To Do list. I would pay for this app again if it meant ensuring continued maintenance. I cherish EpicWin. It makes me happy. ### 5/5 — Less is more *2020-05-14, version 1.76* I have ADHD, and I’ve found this one to be better than the other todo list & gamification app that most people use. All those advanced features and different types of rewards the other app has are distracting, and aren’t at all interesting - if I wanted to play an actual game, I’d play an actual game. This app has much better sound and graphics which are all I need to feel rewarded. I don’t care much for collectibles but they are a nice addition. The only suggestion I have is maybe make the reward system procedurally generated, so it works forever. ### 5/5 — Addiction for good *2018-08-09, version 1.76* So, my friend convinced me to restart playing Pokémon Go. And I was hooked. XP grinding. Knocking over grandmas for Magikarp. And it happened immediately. How can I use this tendency for good? I had tried Habitica before but it didn't stick. Although there are some features, I wish I could carry over to Epic Win. Doesn't matter because EW beauty is the simplicity, engaging graphics, endorphin pumping sound effects and visuals when you score, and you get points that you weight with a road map of how far you've gone. Of course you're teased with needing to level up. And you have 5 types of xp. ### 5/5 — EPIC app for EPIC people *2018-06-17, version 1.76* You could look at this app and be annoyed by the simplicity, limited functionality, the extra added sound effects, the music, but that makes you an instant square. For those of who you DESIRE the abstract, and yearn for the ONE TRUE DESIGN IDEA that delivers exactly what it promises in a truly unique and fun way, EPIC WIN IS AN EPIC WIN. I’ve tried many of these apps, but this is the only one that has actually gotten me motivated and ready for adventure. It feels slightly like your life has been thrown into a video game, and as long as you complete your quests, you can make headway on your journey, unlocking all sorts of special gifts along the way. Yep, screw all the other apps, all their advances features only screw with your head and make it more time than it’s really worth.
