It seemed to work well. The app indicates that it will do audio too since it asks for access to the phone’s microphone. But also said to get all the features I need t the pro version, so I paid the $8. However, I did notice that after upgrading, outside of asking for access to the phones microphone, it makes no mention of doing audio. I wanted to stick a web camera on a birds nest outside my window. This app would give me the opportunity to do it wirelessly. Much better option than running a wire out my window. However once I upgraded the app, and got everything setup…no audio. The only option was the laptop microphone. To make it worse, the laptop gets HOT. The fan never stops running. It gets so hot that I set a ziplock bag of ice under the laptop in the area of the CPU (added cooling) and it melted the whole bag in 30 minutes and the laptop still managed to overheat. Admittedly, I’m using an older laptop for this, but wow…it’s a huge resource hog! I gave it 2 stars because it does what it says it does (minus the audio) but as others have mentioned it can be a flakey connection wireless, and maybe if you’ve got a really nice, newer gaming PC it won’t overheat your system. For my use though…this was a bad purchase and not recommended if you plan to use anything underpowered on the PC side. ### 3/5 — Great when it workser *2024-12-03, version 2024.2* Eventually loses the wi-fi connection to Zoom even though preview screen continues to work on PC. I’ll never understand the Schrodinger effect: two devices can be connected and disconnected at the same time! ### 1/5 — Waste of time and money *2024-10-31, version 2024.2* Every time I have to use this, I to REDOWNLOAD the camera hub on my pc to work. This NEVER detects my desktop through wifi no matter what troubleshooting I have to go through. I have done everything to try and make it work. Either the Camera Hub is the problem or the EpocCam app. Either way, they need to patch this bug on both ends. ### 1/5 — Paid for pro doesn’t even work *2024-10-26, version 2024.2* Support is terrible. Website gives incorrect instructions on using with obs. No matter what I try it does not show up in obs. Even with elgato cam hub installed and on. Waste of 8 bucks. Now it no longer connects. Tried all the troubleshooting, however, once you get it working, give it a week or two and you have to go back to troubleshooting. Uninstalling and reinstalling usually does the trick. Now you have to do it a few times before it starts working for one or two weeks. Typical Corsair business. No wonder I cue behaves the same. All I get is a blank green screen when trying to connect to anything but the CameraHub ### 1/5 — Once perfect now horribly flawed *2024-09-09, version 2024.2* I never changed my devices, cords, or wifi and it all worked great. Then they had an update, and now the app can’t connect to my computer. ### 1/5 — When it works it works great…but *2024-09-07* I began using EpocCam for my twitch streams a few weeks ago. When it works it is an amazing alternative to a webcam but the problem is that more often than not it doesn’t work. Connection issues are the norm. Connecting via WiFi only works about 25% if the time and it absolutely eats your battery and heats up your phone making it a bad choice for anything other than short streams. Connecting via usb also has its issues. You have to have a powerful enough cable and half of the time even with the correct cable it will disconnect about 10 minutes into streaming/recording or just straight up not work. I tried many different hotfixes and found that nothing really worked long term so I was basically just rolling the dice to see if it would work or not. I ended up just buying a regular 4K webcam. Save your money and just get a webcam. ### 3/5 — Connects most the time *2024-08-31, version 2024.2* Epo connects most of the time but sometimes it doesn’t work for almost no reason. I use this as a video recorder on my laptop becuase it’s so much faster having the files there, rather then transporting them. I think that if it wasn’t so slow I would’ve loved this app. ### 1/5 — Does Not Work *2024-08-29, version 2024.2* Bought Pro version because I liked the app. Now it will connect for a split second and then disconnect. Have tried everything— does not work. ### 3/5 — Great when it works *2024-08-10, version 2024.2* When this app is working it works really well. However I’ve had problems with it not connecting for no apparent reason. Sometimes simply restarting it gets in working again. Sometimes it just never works via wifi again. I paid for the pro version so I would expect more reliability for the money I paid. For example one day I used it to successfully hold a family Zoom meeting. The next day it stop working unless connected with USB. With USB it seemed super laggy. I feel like the developers need to bug test it more because it seems to be very finicky about when it connects. Maybe it needs a control panel for the computer app to trouble shoot it. The only troubleshooting they suggest is checking if the background apps are working and that the phone and computer are on the same network. It’s really good when it works so it’s frustrating that it is so unreliable. ### 1/5 — Super laggy *2024-08-09, version 2024.2* In theory a great concept but the app is lagging so bad that it makes it unusable. I do not recommend purchasing the premium version since it seems to lag significantly more than the free version. I have connected my phone via USB as well as WiFi and always have this issue. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work after update *2024-08-06, version 2024.2* Latest update 8/5/24 causes app to no longer work. Do not purchase or support Elgato. App was extremely inconsistent anyway. Far better alternates available. This is a scam. ### 1/5 — Works some of the time *2024-07-25, version 2024.1* You will plug your phone in, and then unplug it because it doesn’t work, and replug it in, and then restart the app on your phone, and reboot the computer 7 times, before it connects and starts working. It will work for about 10 minutes before it glitches out and you have to unplug your phone and plug it back in again, and then it will show your live feed again, until it doesn’t again. Using an iPhone 13 Pro Max via USB connection. I’m over it. Looking elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Update caused problems *2024-07-23, version 2024.1* This was great until recent updates. I updated software on device and computer and nothing but problems. Can’t connect via wifi, and when using USB it works for a bit then image freezes. Very frustrating as it seems this amazing update was not well tested before release. Update - still has problems. Can connect but the lag is horrible. Starts fine but as time goes on lag increases exponentially. 30-40 minutes into a zoom call it is useless. ### 1/5 — Connecting Issue *2024-07-22, version 2024.1* Installed the drivers and software and the camera wasn’t event working properly, really bad lag and not very user friendly. ### 1/5 — Broken app that’s never been fixed *2024-07-20, version 2024.1* This app freezes or breaks in another way every time I use it. The worse part is you can’t just close the app and restart it. If you restart the app never resets and the error keeps occurring. In order to get the app to reboot, reconnect and run the camera properly you need to restart your entire computer which then reboots the app. There is no option in the app to reboot or reconnect. Restarting completely is the only option. Needless to say this can’t be done in certain situations like meetings or cause issue as with streaming. This issue makes it unusable for these applications. This has been an issue ever since I began using this app. Don’t use this app it’s broken and doesn’t appear to be getting a patch any time soon. ### 1/5 — Does not support audio, no support *2024-07-19, version 2024.1* I got the free version to test it and see how it worked. The video worked great. There was no audio. It indicated that I needed to buy the pro app for $7.99 in order to have audio which I did. The audio did not work on the pro version of the app. Their tech-support page said that I had to load an older driver onto my PC in order to run audio with the app. I installed it, and after hours of fiddling with it, it still did not work. I contacted customer service for tech-support and was told that it would be three business days before they got back to me. I already spent eight dollars and three hours of my life screwing with this product. I don’t know if I can get a refund because Corsair (the parent company) defers to the App Store for refunds and the App Store will not show that the purchase was made. Don’t get involved with this product. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Audio doesn’t work with Win 11 and Won’t work in background. *2025-02-15, version 2024.2* Audio also doesn’t work with windows 11 which is the whole point. As soon as i bring another app in front using multi task, the feed stops. This seems to be a crucial blocker. Why would the camera feed stop as soon as you bring another app to the front using multi tasking. Your allowed up to 4 apps without any interruptions. That’s the whole point of this thing ! ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2025-01-27, version 2024.2* Somewhat of a let down, worked first time and seemed great but it’s glitchy and crashes camera hub, won’t view the camera and frankly more effort than it’s worth. Used to be my go to camera One day they updated this and it hasn’t worked since. I’ve tried every troubleshooting tip and none of them work and my patience is gone. I waited months for this to be fixed and was confident it would be fixed quickly. Fast forward I still don’t have full access to the app I PAID for. I can use camera vs usb but the whole point I invested anything into this app was for the cordless mobility option it added to my setup. If you buy this and it doesn’t work don’t expect it to be fixed and don’t act like you weren’t warned Just buy a usb camera ### 1/5 — When this app worked *2024-11-05, version 2024.2* This app used to be great, it used to work. I used to be able to plug in my phone and get going and have no Issues. Now? I paid money for an app that doesn’t work. Only thing I’d love to see is all settings saving as a profile. For example every single time I launch it I go select NDI > 1080p > disable mic > select virtual green screen filter. Hopefully that’s not too hard to implement and I’m sure having multiple profiles could be a huge benefit for some streamers too! ### 5/5 — NDI to OBS *2024-05-22, version 2024.1* Worth it just for the NDI over wifi to OBS. The latest version, using camera hub automatically dims your iPad screen which is annoying as we use the iPad as a monitor to see ourselves. Have to constantly touch the screen to wake it up. There is no way of turning it off! Please add option to toggle screen dimming.
