### 4/5 — Good for learning but shouldn’t be your only guide

*2019-08-05, version 2.3*

The format is great for memorization and for applying knowledge to situational questions, but some of the information is incorrect. It’s a great addition to other, more carefully edited (more expensive) study guides. Update: I passed! I was consistently getting 65-70% right on this app, so I was worried, but I got a 690 on the actual exam, despite the fact that there was a lot on there that I’d never seen before and lots of questions where I was guessing between 2 good answers. So this app definitely helped and was worth the money. Good luck everyone!

### 3/5 — Doesn’t fit my learning style

*2019-01-14, version 2.3*

I found that I do not use this app at all. It doesn’t allow to make a choice when deciding what the answer might be like some other multiple choice apps. EPPP pocket prep is what I would recommend for anyone who wants to simulate the actual multiple choice test question and answer format. I gave it 3 stars because I think for some this method might be useful. Good luck to all who are studying for the EPPP.

### 3/5 — It’s good, but . . .

*2018-09-09, version 2.3*

Appears comprehensive and is certainly easy to work through in a fairly through and focused way. However, there are a fair number of typos and oddly worded questions, so that you can’t really tell what is being asked for until you go to the answer. In addition, there are some areas in which content/answers conflict with the content of other study guide publishers and other areas where biases are fairly blatant (“praying over the sick is an example of superstitious behavior,” some of the ways in which questions on gender/LGBTQ are worded, etc.). This makes me nervous as a near-future test taker, but other positive reviews have convinced me to go forward. We’ll see.

### 4/5 — It did the trick

*2016-07-29, version 2.1*

I only studied 15-20 hours and I somehow passed. I spent a little time reading, but the majority of my study time was with this app. It has a few inaccuracies, but overall, it's a good tool. I'd buy it again.

### 3/5 — Multiple Choice options would be helpful

*2016-01-02, version 2.1*

App seems helpful so far. I tried to contact the email address provided to ask about multiple choice options on the question cards. However, I received a "mail delivery subsystem" error response indicating the address is not active. I think this app would be more helpful if it had questions with multiple choice options which reflect the actual exam.

### 5/5 — Passed with this app

*2015-08-26, version 2.1*

Passed with this app!

### 5/5 — Great study tool!!!

*2015-08-03, version 2.1*

This is a phenomenal app. At first I was a little skeptical that there would be much information of substance, particularly given the fact it was $30; but I was pleasantly surprised by the wealth of info this app contained. I ended up using it as my primary study source (also used alternative practice tests). I appreciated the inclusion of both content domains and tests, which provided diverse means of synthesizing information. I passed the EPPP with this app; what more can I say?!

### 5/5 — Wonderful tool!

*2015-07-25, version 2.1*

I am happy to report I scored a 583 yesterday... And I did it EXCLUSIVELY with this app. 30 bucks for perfect prep. Having to use recall memory in the app made recognition on the exam a lot easier. Very grateful for this resource, thank you!

### 5/5 — Great for on the go studying

*2015-05-31, version 2.1*

I downloaded this app while traveling and used it while waiting at the airport, on the plane, and at my hotel. It's a great way to reinforce info on the go and definitely covers current EPPP content! Highly recommended and great price!

### 5/5 — Incredible value

*2014-12-18, version 2.1*

This app contains approximately 80% of the information that you would get from a much much much more expensive source. the format is easily customizable and user-friendly, all the cards are readable and the additional content informative.

### 4/5 — Gets the job done.

*2014-11-25, version 2.0*

Not the most efficient way to study (probably takes more time than going over the expensive practice tests), but this app offers a lot of information. Enough information to pass (barely. But still.) with only using this app to study. (The DSM V stuff was on my test by the way. I just ignored the DSM IV stuff on the clinical section of the app and focused on the DSM V section of the app.) Good luck.

### 3/5 — DSM V?

*2014-11-23, version 2.0*

My DSM V section has gone away and the abnormal section is still DSM iv.

### 3/5 — Not a stand-alone study tool

*2014-11-16, version 1.9*

I purchased this app to use to study while riding public transit. I also used AATBS study materials & mock exams. I found the information in this app to be reasonably helpful in that it covered the more basic topics on the exam and overlapped about 50% with the other study material I was using. It definitely does not cover enough material on its own to help you pass the exam. I also agree with previous reviews in that there are many typos & at least one question that gave a false answer. I took the exam after being out of grad school for 3 years and did very well on the exam. In hindsight, I probably didn't need this app as the other materials would have been more than sufficient. However, if you struggle on standardized tests, I think this app could help by allowing you to study when you are on the go.

### 5/5 — EPPP

*2014-09-18, version 1.9*

I really liked it. Helpful. The last three questions I reviewed before walking in for the exam were on the test. I passed & did well. It's not that the EPPP is difficult it's that the amount of material to be covered is tremendous.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2014-08-13, version 1.9*

This app was my main study method and I passed and am also licensed in a state with an annoying higher EPPP score cutoff. Even though there may be a typo or two It has the same content as all the other more expensive book/CD study packages. One of my colleagues even shunned me for using this app but guess who's laughing now. Anyway this is a great app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lots of info but not helpful

*2023-03-29, version 2.4*

Research confirms memory works best when study conditions are the same as conditions when recall is needed. The EPPP is a multiple choice exam but this app uses hundreds of Q/A cards to test your knowledge. I don’t need to memorize all these things, I just need to be able to differentiate the correct answer from a list of options.

### 1/5 — Wrong dsm info

*2018-07-31, version 2.2*

Just started reviewing and noticed that there are still dsm4 names (somatoform vs somatic symptom disorder). Yes it's good that you add new dsm5 info but also be take out the wrong info and not just leave it there. Also, their developers page is a porn site. They don't even have a real one up. Don't click on it.

### 1/5 — Incorrect Info

*2018-02-06, version 2.2*

Found incorrect information in behavioral section (e.g., indicated that punishment is most effective at the highest intensity). This is not true. Punishment is most effective when you start at lower intensities- administering a punishment procedure at the highest intensity results in bx side effects and possible habituation to the stimulus.

### 1/5 — Expensive App

*2011-10-12, version 1.4*

Don't buy this app you can buy better apps for 3.99 and under.

### 1/5 — Not like the EPPP

*2011-04-22, version 1.3.1*

Not multiple choice questions like the EPPP. Wish I had nor spent the $29.99 on this application. Try the free one and u will see what I mean. Best to use the study materials.

### 2/5 — DSM-IV only

*2018-08-13, version 2.2*

Despite what the descriptions says, the Abnormal section reflects the old version of the DSM, which was incredibly frustrating. The rest of it is fairly helpful.

### 2/5 — A great concept but info in outdated

*2018-07-06, version 2.2*

I wish they would update the info and the organize it... current info is outdated and disorganized. Such a shame because it could have been a great study tool...

### 2/5 — Not worth it

*2014-06-06, version 1.9*

I was hopeful about this app but it wasn't helpful. Not only were there typos (suggesting questionable quality) but it doesn't follow the format of the exam (multiple choice). Don't waste your money. I just found out I passed the EPPP today and I attribute it all to taking lots of practice tests and creating flash cards through brainscape for the questions I got wrong. This app got very little use after the first try. Wish I could have returned it.

### 2/5 — Helpful, but questionable

*2014-04-12, version 1.9*

This app initially seemed like a great purchase; however, after going through only the ethics section I found a few typos and many of the questions are not written very well. I had to re-read several of the questions before I actually understood them. For the amount of money I paid for this app I expected it to be better executed. Minor errors, such as typos and sentence structure, make me question the validity of the information provided on the cards. It's also disappointing to see that the typos were brought up in another comment in 2011 and still have not been addressed in 2014.

### 2/5 — Great Idea but...

*2013-12-09, version 1.8*

The idea is great but all the content is right off of Wikipedia. Unfortunately the numbers used by the testing companies don't match. So you have to decide. Do I trust Wikipedia more than Academic Review. I was kind of disappointed. The developer made a really great and usable app but failed to deliver on the most important aspect: content.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worth it!

*2019-06-20, version 2.3*

This app was essential for my studying. I used it on-the-go and during weekends where I wasn’t sitting down with the rest of my materials. It covers all the major sections and topics and I specifically loved how you can save flash cards you struggle getting correct and dispose of flash cards that you have down. 👍🏽 Buy it!

### 5/5 — Very Useful for 2019 EPPP

*2019-03-16, version 2.3*

At the recommendation of a colleague I purchased this app to study for the EPPP. I kept meticulous track of my study habits and can report the following:
I got a 688 on my first attempt after 173 hours of total study prep time. 56% of that time was spent using this app, 27% using a 2-year-old set of prep books, and 16% reading the DSM-5 or other misc. studying. This was very relevant to my overall prep and I would highly recommend. I would also recommend supplementing w/ some individual study/review and/or some of the prep books from the last few years.
Good Luck!

### 5/5 — This is so close to the real thing!

*2018-04-11, version 2.2*

I passed using this app, it’s extremely helpful and pretty similar to the actual test. I also love that it’s free because getting to this point is already so expensive.

### 5/5 — Love it!!

*2017-06-03, version 2.1*

This app had been the perfect supplement to my study materials! I can read my books then test myself here and study on the go. Great app!

### 5/5 — Great tool and info!! A++

*2017-04-20, version 2.1*

So far, I feel this app covers the same info as the test prep I'm using. I wanted something for when I was on the go and had time to study. Overall, I think the info is phenomenal!! I also liked that you can email the flash card set to yourself to print. I was disappointed the DSM V info was not included on the pdfs since I prefer the old fashion way of having everything in front me rather than scrolling on my phone. I will update my review after I take the eppp. I hope the creator continues to update the app for other test takers.

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2016-07-13, version 2.1*

I use this all the time! It's great for those moments when I have a few free minutes but not enough to sit down and study. It's also great for the longer study sessions when I need to break things up. The app has great features and helps me hone in on areas that need more work.

### 5/5 — I Passed

*2016-05-26, version 2.1*

This app was recommended to my by a colleague who used it to pass her test too. Free recall is the best way to learn. The short term goal / Leitner mode was by far the better way to study.

### 5/5 — Super helpful

*2016-05-13, version 2.1*

Great app. Love the study mode. Was really helpful in helping DSM5 and neuropsych stick. Passed today and owe a lot to this app!

### 5/5 — worth every penny

*2015-09-30, version 2.1*

easy to use, fairly comprehensive and quite accurate. good for end of study timeline as the open ended format means you really need to know your stuff. very helpful and can print off PDFs of questions too.

### 5/5 — Shrink

*2015-09-18, version 2.1*

Best tool at any price! I passed with score over 600!! Had paid $$$ for TSM, academic review etc. But it wasn't til I used these flash cards that I increased my practice tests scores by 10%+
