## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Distortion

*2024-04-29*

Having the EQ cause distortion in the very first lesson is really bad. Applying 12db of gain to a specific frequency is going to do that if you don’t compensate by lowering the overall gain by 12db. Really really poor oversight on the developers part. It makes it a lot harder to guess what changed if the EQ is so severely boosted it distorts.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. Have you tried adjusting the overall volume? For optimal ear training experience, we also recommend using high quality headphones rather than phone speakers as in-built phone speakers response to EQ boost to certain frequencies poorly and may produce distortions. Could you please try these adjustments and see if it resolves the distortion you’re experiencing?

If the problem still persists, please feel free to let us know which iOS device, iOS version and headphones are you using so we can try to replicate the problem. We value your input and are here to help with any further questions or concerns.

### 2/5 — Could be really good - currently fails at first hurdle but would love to see it revamped.

*2025-10-02, version 1.3.2*

App could be really good, but it seems to massively over-estimate how good all beginners will be and it fails to provide a way to dial back the difficultly level to a point where those people can gradually improve. Obviously I’m not great with EQ … and that’s the point of the app isn’t it? To help people like me improve. I feel it’s failing at that. I just got irked by failing and having no way to incrementally improve.

EDIT: To answer the developer, no, I’m playing it through the Mac, using Yamaha HS7’s in an acoustically treated room - I don’t have hearing issues and I’ve been a musician for years. I’ve found alternative apps to be fine and the issue for me in this case is definitely the functionality of the app, with the starting bands being too narrow.

### 3/5 — Great exercises but pricing is a bit deceptive and songs could be better suited for these exercises.

*2023-05-16*

Without reading the descriptions of all of the upgrade options, I paid for unlimited hearts, cause that’s all I wanted at the time. I later read through the rest and realized the last option called “unlock units 2 and 3” also says at the bottom that it “bonus: includes unlimited hearts”. So basically this translates to “unlocks EVERYTHING” but is not clearly worded, and is blended in with all the other options at the bottom of the list. So by buying that, I technically paid for unlimited hearts twice.

Seems like this is done on purpose to get customers to pay twice. So if this is NOT intentional, you should either clearly label it “UNLOCK EVERYTHING” and put it at the top of the list OR give a discounted price to customers who already paid for part of the package.

Also, as far as the songs. There’s only a few to choose from and a lot of the time they aren’t utilizing the full EQ spectrum so you won’t always be able to hear the frequency you’re looking for until the next part of the song comes in. So that’s frustrating and not very respectful of our time. I suggest adding songs that utilize the full spectrum the whole song so we don’t have to sit there and wait for the next part of the song.

### 4/5 — Fantastic!

*2025-07-27, version 1.3.2*

Really great app and user interface - it took me a second to realise how it worked but once I got it it’s become a valuable tool. It would be nice to have some more tracks in there or even the ability to play your own music through it (hence the 4 stars) but otherwise I’m really impressed!

### 4/5 — Great lessons

*2023-06-26*

Other options I found just from searching on google had ridiculous yearly subscriptions. This was reasonable for a lot more lessons than my ear can even pick up on now. The white noise is great but the other mixes for me were very hard to listen to

### 4/5 — Incredible app - but 1 easy improvement would help so much

*2023-02-20*

My favorite so far of the EQ training apps-great work :)

I’d REALLY like to select which frequencies are included, or even a simple range selector to let’s say focus the quiz to 400hz-3k

This would also be useful for headphone limitations. I’m on AirPod pro 2nd gen usually, and have trouble with stuff under 90hz on the quiz.

I think this update would make this the best EQ training app on the market, as it’s already so cool!

### 4/5 — Amazing for EQ training!

*2022-09-24*

The app is awesome for frequency identification and EQ training. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that I wish the app had a headphone mode that excluded changes below 100hz. I only use this app in headphones, and even though my headphones are professional quality, they’re not super reliable below ~100hz, so I always miss those frequency changes.

### 4/5 — Learning Simplicity

*2022-07-19*

The lessons that are given are made fairly simple making the instructions both fluid yet educational.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-08-04*

Absolutely perfect zero complaints coming from a guy who never writes reviews.

### 5/5 — Muito bom!

*2024-11-26, version 1.3.2*

Ajuda a entender como cada frequência trabalha

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-10-16, version 1.3.2*

Nice app, but there’s a bug.. every time I click to unlock unit 2 and 3, nothing happens.. so I can use it only in demo mode 🥴

### 5/5 — Fan of the visual aspect

*2024-08-01*

I like the way it looks ant that there is a lot of settings you can adjust to get a clearer idea of what you’re looking for

### 5/5 — Enjoying and learning

*2024-02-28*

Love the premise behind this app. The only thing that I would love to see is for this app to incorporate the ability to listen to any music (whatever streaming platform the user listens to) and do the testing with that. I feel that would be a great addition. To the app. Thank you.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your review and for sharing such a fantastic idea!

Currently, iOS does not support apps making system-wide EQ adjustments. However, we definitely see the value in your suggestion and will keep it on our radar. Should iOS introduce this capability in the future, we’ll be eager to explore implementing this feature to enhance the training experience further.

Thanks again for your support and for contributing your ideas to improve our app! Have fun EQ training :)

### 5/5 — Exceptional for the price

*2023-12-05*

This is a great app for only $6 and unlimited hearts it's a no brainer if you're trying to save a buck or two!

### 5/5 — Slaps.

*2022-12-27*

Slaps.

### 5/5 — Just what my ears needed!

*2022-03-29, version 1.3.2*

Been making music for years and always struggled with EQ so it’s time to put in some fine tuning. There’s a few different styles to play and a white noise which makes things a little easier at first. Thanks :)

### 5/5 — Just what I needed!!

*2022-03-05*

This is going to help me so much with my mixes I went ahead and purchased all lessons it’s sooo worth it!! If any one is considering this app just get it it’s gonna be a game changer for you I promise! Visual feedback and being able to reference your wrong answers and compare them to the right ones after each test is a great way to learn!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2021-09-03*

Love this app
