### 3/5 — Since update no more free tracking

*2026-07-29*

I was really enjoying this app to track my trail riding a couple times a month. The tracking was free with limited stats. Since the update, it no longer allows tracking at all without premium and it deleted one of my horses.

**Developer response:** Hi there! We're sorry to hear you've had this experience. We haven't removed any existing free tracking features recently. Offering some features only through Premium helps us continue developing and maintaining the app for all riders, but we're always working to keep the core experience valuable and accessible. We also don't delete users' horses. However, since April 2023, adding and tracking multiple in-app horses has been a Premium feature. If your Premium subscription ends, your horses remain in your account, but on the Free plan you'll only be able to track with one in-app horse. You can still be a co-rider for multiple horses. We'd like to look into why you weren't able to start tracking and help you get everything working again. Please reach out to us through the app (Profile → Settings → Contact Support) or email us at support@equilabapp.com, and we'll be happy to help.

### 3/5 — Almost

*2026-07-26, version 5.260720.6766*

I got this app to track my rides from my Apple Watch because it has a Watch app companion. BUT, it is not particularly useful in that it doesn’t track much, such as the gait you were riding where; it has hardly any data. I leave my phone behind as I have a cellular plan for my watch for emergency calls and don’t want to carry my phone. Pls let me know when the watch app gains usable functionality.

### 2/5 — Subscription

*2026-06-07*

I have purchased a yearly subscription and it says I’m at my free limit. I’ve tried to rectify it. But it won’t let me. Beware.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about this experience. If you purchased a yearly subscription but the app still shows free-plan limitations, something is not syncing correctly, and our team would like to investigate it further. Please contact us through the app by going to Profile → Settings → Contact Support, or email us directly at support@equilabapp.com. We'll be happy to help restore your Premium access as quickly as possible.

### 3/5 — had so much potential but not accurate

*2026-05-18, version 5.260511.6682*

I write a lot, especially on trails. This app looks like a lifesaver, and I had so many good reviews, I was so excited. I really love how specific it is, the way it provides gaits and all that. I just found it very inaccurate. I could draw it for a mile, then look at the ride tracker and it would say that 80% if it was walking with some canter mixed in. what kind of horse walks 6 miles an hour? (the current speed thing said I was going 6 miles an hour). Anyway, I had so much potential! Definitely try it, I don’t know if it’ll be better

### 3/5 — please fix

*2026-05-15, version 5.260511.6682*

i open my camera take a picture have music going then “ your fire was interrupted” go to get it back and it’s all gone.

### 2/5 — Great until you have to pay

*2026-04-15, version 5.260410.6637*

I used Equilab for years. Stopped riding for a bit and tried it again for the first time since 2022. It has allot of great features, if you pay for them. I used to be to see things like speed and tempo. Nope, those are locked and the price is ridiculous.

### 2/5 — Eh

*2026-03-30, version 5.260317.6619*

I love the idea of this app I think it will be great, the only thing I dislike is that all I get is premium ads that I don’t want I’m never going to get premium so stop asking me I hate it. I don’t want to see it

### 2/5 — I SO want to love this app . . . But I don’t

*2026-03-08, version 5.260303.6608*

I just rode today. For 31/2 hours. I put my iPhone in my pocket because the app struggles with tracking location from my Apple Watch. No matter how many times I’ve adjusted the settings. And? I got the typical
Mishmash of data. According to the app I did 322 transitions. Spoiler alert: I did NOT. I always struggle with an accurate record of distance traveled, speed and transitions accuracy and saving data. The app is not intuitive to use and, quite frankly, I want to focus on riding not on learning another app. So once again, the record of today’s ride disappeared. I’ve learned by now to screen shot it while it’s up. If the app simply and easily it did everything it says it would be worth
The price. But it doesn’t.

### 4/5 — I wish I could add more horses without having to pay.

*2025-12-27, version 5.251216.6494*

This app is great besides the fact that you can only have one horse for free. Easy to use.

### 3/5 — Was great, but…

*2025-12-01, version 5.251122.6457*

I am a dressage trainer with a large lesson program. Equilab was an excellent way for my students to give me access to their riding data when they ride and train outside of lessons. Recently, Equilab appears to have limited the number of recent rides I can see to 8 (far fewer than the number of students I have riding daily) so that I can no longer keep up with everyone’s rides. Many of my students pay for the premium version of this app, and we are very frustrated I cannot access their rides anymore.
It’s so sad to see an app degrade like this.

### 2/5 — Montre connectée

*2025-10-14, version 5.251011.6386*

### 4/5 — Great but…

*2025-09-24, version 5.250919.6354*

This app is wonderful for tracking regular activities with your horses and ponies, I love the variety in trainings it lists and love the speed and distance tracking. HOWEVER, I primarily carriage drive a miniature horse and the app does not pick up her speed as anything but walking. I would love if you could set a specific speed to register as walk trot and canter (I use the app frequently enough that I know what her average speed is in each gait). Otherwise it’s great!

### 4/5 — Leider zu teuer

*2025-09-13, version 5.250904.6336*

### 5/5 — Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*2025-09-10, version 5.250904.6336*

This app literally changed my life I gained a friend and now we are besties!

### 5/5 — Chuffed

*2025-09-07, version 5.250903.6334*

First day love it nothing else to say except just remember to start I when you get on 🤭❤️🐴

### 3/5 — Super app mais…

*2025-09-01, version 5.250825.6319*

Sinon sympa a utiliser.

### 4/5 — Medición FC

*2025-08-29, version 5.250825.6319*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Half of the time the app doesn’t work

*2026-02-17, version 5.260122.6547*

I’m thinking about looking for a different app

### 1/5 — Not happy

*2025-09-08, version 5.250903.6334*

As from 31/8/25 my Equilab app has stopped giving distances, only showing time taken. I used to have two horses on it but accidentally removed one (sad as I no longer have that boy and our Equilab info was a reminder of heaps of great rides we did). My new horse can’t be put on it unless I pay so is now under my retirees’ name and nowhere does it say how much it is!

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2025-06-18, version 5.250607.6203*

Have used this app for years with zero issues, until the last few months when the app has not been happy. Now it barely boots up before shutting down, so unreliable. Such a shame as it’s a brilliant concept.

### 1/5 — Gone downhill

*2025-05-04, version 5.250426.6149*

I used to really enjoy this app and have used it for several years. Now that you have to pay for a whole host of features that were free it’s time to say goodbye. The app developer is just being greedy.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with watch

*2025-04-21, version 5.250412.6122*

I paid good money for this app because it says you can use your Apple Watch to record your time riding.
Wrong! It won’t upload so therefore you get no information.

### 1/5 — Charged without notice

*2025-03-06*

Charged my card for a premium subscription even though I did not authorize it.

**Developer response:** Hi there - thank you for your review and feedback. We're sorry to hear about the unwanted charge. We'd like to note, per Apple's regulations, that all Subscriptions are automatically renewed unless manually canceled - this policy is stated in their purchase flow. Please feel free to let us know via the Support channel if we can be of any further assistance during the cancelation process. We're always here to help.

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2025-01-14, version 5.250104.5972*

Used 3 times, once the app was started the time starts, it kept track of how many steps we took, and how much time in each gait. After 3 hrs of walk, trot and lope we traveled 0.1 miles. It happened each of the three times we used the app. It’s been deleted.

### 1/5 — I used to love it

*2024-12-28, version 5.241218.5943*

This app was amazing and the features they added to save trails were awesome but in the last five months, it has stopped tracking my rides 20 minutes or so and doesn’t show you that when you open the app while riding.
It also shows it’s still going in the background, but you’re ride has definitely stopped. I won't renew my subscription and will look for an App that works consistently.

### 1/5 — Used to be good app. Turned Greedy.

*2024-12-15, version 5.241207.5915*

This used to be a great app until they took away everything that makes it useful for free users. I’d rather a few ads now and then than this. The app has turned greedy. Time to switch.

### 1/5 — Usuwam tą apke

*2024-03-25, version 5.240319.5272*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-08-01*

I honestly love this app it’s good for all equestrians of any kind at first I was having some troubles with the timing of it but now it’s seemed to change I totally recommend it for everyone out there

**Developer response:** Thank you for your excellent review and for being part of the Equilab community! We're delighted to hear that you enjoy using the app, and we hope you continue to do so. Wishing you many happy rides ahead!

### 5/5 — Amazing app for horse girls

*2026-06-21, version 5.260605.6710*

I use this for real horses, especially my high performance, broodmare Hobbiyah. This app even tracks when I ride her in my house

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-03-12*

Love the challenges they really motivate me to ride to push myself. Also love the tracking feature which means when hacking alone somebody knows where I am. My only wish with the app is that there were more opportunities to win things etc like the special badges and to create a kind of ride satnav which helps highlight bridle paths and rights of way for riding to help see routes or plan new routes it would also be interesting to have a feature to report any issues a bit like the Waze app such as a blocked bridleway.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're thrilled to hear the challenges and tracking features support your riding. Your suggestions regarding additional achievements, route navigation, and reporting bridleway issues are valuable, therefore we've shared them with our team for consideration. We appreciate you being part of the Equilab community!

### 5/5 — God forbid you accidentally close the app

*2026-02-26, version 5.260122.6547*

Will change to 5 stars when yall program app to run in background when you close app!! I always lose my training if I accidentally close app and it’s made me so mad that i came all the way here to leave this review. Or you should AT LEAST be able to combine trainings. Then maybe I’ll pay the $45 a month yall ask for. Yall need to act like a paid app if you’re going to ask for payment!

### 5/5 — Good job👍

*2026-02-09, version 5.260122.6547*

First time using it very good very easy everything I needed to know to get my mare fit for hunting

### 5/5 — 1er fois au top👍🏼

*2026-01-24*

### 5/5 — Horse riding in Sardinia with Meurreddus horses

*2025-10-30, version 5.251025.6407*

Great app for recording. I use it in Sardinia when I go on excursions with the Meurreddus equestrian center 🥰

### 5/5 — Great for trainers

*2025-10-27*

I really like using the app for all the horses I’m training. I have lots of horses to train and it keeps me consistent when it comes to staying consistent with tracking progress with the notes session.
It would be great if we had the option to train 2 horses at the same time. Sometimes I might b working with 2 horses if I’m doing ground work, ponying a horse, hitching, gentling mustangs ….

**Developer response:** Hi there - thank you for your review and feedback! We're glad to hear you're enjoying Equilab and hope it continues to support your training journey. Please be assured that our support team shared your suggestion with the rest of the team so they can consider it for future updates. We appreciate ideas like yours that help us improve the app for all riders. ### 5/5 — pretty awesome!

*2025-09-27, version 5.250924.6361*

i use equilab a lot! and i love it!! i think my only thing is that it does cost some money to get premium for more advantages. (like safety tracking) other than that its an awesome app with fabulous people!

### 5/5 — Really useful app!

*2025-09-16*

I love the Equilab app! The live safety tracking feature gives me and my husband peace of mind when I’m trail riding by myself. He doesn’t have the app yet he can click the link it texts him and see me and my pony moving around the map in real time.

I also really like being able to see how many hours and miles Phoenix and I have logged in a month. It really helps me keep track of how much I’ve actually been riding and it keeps a pretty accurate record of what gaits at what speed for how long. I love that the app tracks weather conditions during rides because that lets me look back and see if our performance was impacted by the weather and has helped me gauge Phoenix’s “comfort zone” of temp and humidity better so that I know when to push her and when to take it easy. The ability to see average stride length and BPM in each gait is cool but not something I use often since we just casually trail ride and jump a few cross country obstacles here and there. Phoenix is gaited, sort of, and when she gaits the app does get confused sometimes even though I have her in there as a gaited breed.

I love the challenges in the app because it has been inspiring me to get more rides in to meet the challenges. Being able to add friends is a really neat feature as well :)

All in all I highly recommend this app, whether you’re a casual rider like myself or actually doing serious training.

**Developer response:** Hi there - thank you for your review and feedback. We're glad to hear that you enjoy using Equilab and hope you continue to do so. Feel free to reach out to us at support@equilabapp.com if you have any questions or require assistance. Our team is always here and happy to help!
