Covering over 700 separate dose regimens (for over 440 different drugs) this is a complete reference for any veterinarian treating horses.

This mobile formulary is intended for Veterinary Professionals, including veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary nurses, veterinary technicians and veterinary pharmacists and pharmacologists. Both the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) and Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA) also offer this App free to their members as part of their membership benefits package.
• Please read the End-User Legal Agreement (EULA) before downloading this application.

• The database of drugs is updated at least every 3 months.
• The emphasis is on quality of information and this App details the drug doses we actually use together with a reference for the dose.
• Drugs can be searched for by generic name or alternative name, including many trade names. Incorporates a handy dose calculator function (with the dose range automatically filled in) to generate the correct dose for any individual patient as well as a continuous infusion calculator for drugs such as lidocaine, insulin and many others.
• Notes are provided for every drug, and user notes can also be added to each drug
• There are notes on use in competition, including detection times published by the FEI, RMTC, EHSLC and USEF.
• Contains information about the safety of each drug in pregnancy, based on available information in horses and other species
• Developed by Dr Kevin Corley DACVIM DACVECC for Veterinary Advances this is an essential resource for practitioners, students, residents and specialists alike.

Submit any comments or suggestions for drugs to be included in updates at www.veterinaryadvances.com.

There is a short video demonstrating some of the features on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/VeterinaryAdvances)

From Equine Veterinary Education, 23(2):105, 2011 (reviewing version 1.2):
"I must admit that initially I was sceptical on having to use an iPhone App to find drug doses. However, its ease of use and with a full range of drugs listed I found myself using it more and more."
"...it delivers a good value basic, user friendly formulary that is ideal for checking up on doses and specific drug interactions/side effects."

• A subscription is charged to allow for frequent updates of the data.
• For the safety of your patients, the App will not display drug databases that are more than 6 months old. If you have not downloaded an update in the last 6 months, you will be requested to do so. If you do not have a current subscription, you will need to subscribe to allow the download.
• Subscriptions are charged monthly.
• Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period
• Your iTunes account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and will identify the cost of the renewal
• Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase

The terms of use of this App can be found at: www.veterinaryadvances.com/EquineDrugs/EULA.pdf

### 1/5 — Monthly Subscription Required to use this app $4.50

*2020-08-27*

Disappointed to read only after paying for this app, that I also need to subscribe monthly for $4.50 if I want to see more than 10 drugs. Useless app without subscription

**Developer response:** The App is free to download and preview. A subscription is only required if you wish to see the full database. The subscription allows us to frequently update the database to keep the information current and reliable. The database was updated 5 times in August 2020 and has already been updated again in September. The current price is $2.49 a month and it has never been higher than that in the 2 years that this has been a subscription App.

### 3/5 — The Razor Blade Model

*2019-09-19*

I purchased this app and started using in 2011 or 2012 on the recommendation of a prominent internal medicine specialist from Texas. The first 6 years were wonderful and full of useful drug calculations, safety/efficacy data, and research! However like many companies a purchase of software doesn’t equal a purchase anymore, rather instead they decide to go with the “razor blade” model and charge a subscription fee. I find this contractually objectionable and borderline irresponsible to the equine profession. Is your goal to make money with the app or provide a service to your colleagues? I do find the app very useful for young equine vets especially in their internship. I hope one day the developers and Dr. Corley will keep their contractual word to the vets that gave this app a chance in the first place! It would very well be a 5 star app in that case.

**Developer response:** We changed the App to a subscription only model in early 2018, as we were not able to keep with database up to date with the one-off pricing. With an App that so many professionals rely on, it is vital to keep the information current to protect the welfare of their patients. All existing users got over a year free (to the value in excess of their original purchase price) when the App switched to a subscription model.
Unfortunately, it was unsustainable for us to keep the database current without the switch in pricing model - and it is not possible to leave some users with out of date or possibly wrong information that has the potential to do harm to patients.
Before making the change, we surveyed a number of users as to whether they would prefer that we close down the App (ie not update it for the iPhone X series and new iOS versions), or continue but with a subscription model. The vast majority elected for a subscription model. We apologise if you do not agree with their decision.
The App has substantially changed since 2010 with a large amount of new information, including competition withdrawal times and information about the use in pregnancy.
Please contact us off-line at info@veterinaryadvances.com and we will do our best to address your concerns.

### 5/5 — Dr Paula Williams

*2018-05-26*

The best app. I use it everyday... usually when other vets ask for doses! Always useful at the beginning of the breeding season for a reminder of foal doses. Well worth the money.

### 2/5 — Génial

*2013-07-27*

App très pratique en consultation, on ne mémorise pas toutes les posologies, grâce à Equine Drugs, on a la réponse instantanément aussi bien pour les poulains que pour les adultes...Merci Kevin!

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2011-11-25*

Excellent tool to use every day. Has all the drugs onemay need touse in equine practice. Also has a section to add your own notes (dosages, etc) regarding each drug! If u think of what a formulary cost this is money well spent! (and it also gets updates!)

### 5/5 — Very good app

*2011-07-19*

Would recommend to any horse person and vets alike. I use this app alot. Would like to see a little more info on certain drugs but overall well worth the money

### 5/5 — Essential reference for equine vets

*2010-12-21*

So much high quality information, all in one place and on the phone which is always with me in the field or in the hospital. No need to search individual references from the bookshelves or computer database. The new notes function allows addition of any personal reminders, which is also very handy.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2010-12-19*

Only used short time, but looks very thorough and practical. Worth the money

### 5/5 — Excellent tool

*2010-11-21*

This an excellent app. It provides current, accurate dosage recommendations with references to support. The drugs are very easy to find either alphabetically or by drug category. The list of drugs appears complete. The sliding dosage setting is a bit sensitive but once you get used to it, it works well. I have found it extremely useful for stall side calculations when administering drugs not frequently used ie insulin CRI, metoclopramide, etc. It works well with the iPad except it doesn't have the ability to change orientation with changes in position of the iPad. However, the screen in the vertical orientation is very easy to work with. Well done!

### 5/5 — Indispensable

*2010-10-22*

Not yet found a drug it doesn't have - found it particularly useful to be able to browse through drugs by their function -helped me choose an antibiotic today... Being able to search by tradename is fantastic too...
