Having different eras is really cool and that drew me in. Unfortunately the in-game currency goes fast and playing every era without spending real money has proven to be challenging. I’m considering deleting my account and starting over so I can try a different era. Its like your expected to spend real money on this game in order to get a basic set up (Wrestlers, match types, referees, commentators etc.) EVERYTHING costs in game currency and even with the achievements, it doesn’t allow you to gain much in comparison to how much things cost. At this point in time, there’s no other way to put it than a cash-grab. If you choose to put in some money, it’s a fun game to kill a bit of time but if developers want this game to grow, the realisation is needed that early monetary gain for them is killing the playerbase. ### 5/5 — This game is awesome *2026-05-13* I’m having a hard time of different Era’s it’s it’s hard of going back one can I restart? ### 5/5 — Best on the App Store *2026-05-02* Don’t get me wrong there’s things that can be added but so far the game is great a lot of characters to collect I just wish their was more to do maybe a daily log in or maybe some sort of event otherwise I really love the game ### 3/5 — A step backwards *2026-04-30* I’ve played every game and this one feels like a lot of good ideas that weren’t allowed to bake long enough. The pros: art style is great overall, the stars in the corner to judge how good a segment is, great. Familiar play mechanics. Cons: morale system is horrible even if they are used regularly they can have low morale. Uneven costs for the wrestlers, 2 mid carders, one that can be used for more eras was cheaper than another who could be used for one era, makes no sense. The shards are just a way to slow the acquisition pace down and unnecessary. Not knowing how close i am to maxing out a stat without going into another screen, put it on the back of the card like before. Eh: customs feuds were better in previous games as was sorting between tiers of wrestlers. Overall modern mania was a better game overall. Genuinely had high hopes but this project has failed all of us… ### 1/5 — Abysmally Slow Progress *2026-04-24, version 1.0.30* Seems like the game was built to make money and make money only. Playing this game without spending a dime is grueling, boring, and repetitive. It’s simply not fun to book the same 6 matches over and over making $300 per show trying to save up a $300,000 for a new wrestler to hire. ### 1/5 — What a DUD *2026-04-21, version 1.0.30* THIS GAME STINKS ### 1/5 — Welp, I was right *2026-04-03* They abandoned two enjoyable games to make this one, and I no longer believe I’ll be spending any real money on checkmate. They biffed it in a huge way. It takes way too long to acquire in-game currency, the prices aren’t balanced, the morale system alongside the rng is just a waste of in-game currency. If you made a grid view instead of a slider, the old games would be directly on-par with any upsides. Limiting the number of times a player can purchase shards is also broken. Why encourage me to put the game down for hours? This game will take way too long doing it F2P. Glad the toxic discord community dogpiled people who wondered about the older games lack of updates. If you like the previous versions of this game then be ready because everything you enjoyed about it is behind a paywall. You’ll get bored quick of slogging at any sort of progression without paying, so it’s incredibly repetitive. I love both. This one is awful. Not even remotely fun. Also a huge cash grab. Acquiring wrestlers is basically impossible without spending a ton of actual money. I hate that they advertised this as the “eras” of wrestling but right from the start you have to play in the most uninteresting era and spend money to unlock the others. This game sucks. A lot. Oh and The Ragin Gaijins are the best tag team in ERAs history! 🤣 ### 5/5 — Championship Manager for wrestling *2026-08-25* I’m not a massive football fan but remember friends losing months of their lives to championship manager and getting lost in statistics. It kind of sounded fun. Eras is the wrestling equivalent but statistic heavy it isn’t. You get to run a wrestling promotion. You get to hire and fire, you book the matches and decide who is a heel and whose a face, you decide which merch goes on sale, and where the event is going to be. It’s a great time killer, not massively deep but the challenge to put on a decent event is always balanced with your creative storylines in your head.
