### 4/5 — Great App & Workouts

*2022-11-03, version 1.29*

My husband and I have been using Primal Fit for maybe a year now on and off. We are enjoying the app and the ease of linking it to our tv. Plus the ease of going into each exercise without having to back out or rewind. The music change is great for each workout and keeps my mind busy and distracted. Totally get our A**es kicked too. I’ve never worked out my first 30 years young, but have been working out on and off the last two years. Thanks Eric Leija for the awesome workouts and keeping us fit.

### 3/5 — Everything but the app

*2022-10-02, version 1.28*

I’ve been using Eric’s programs for a little over a year now and I love his workouts. They are perfect for my goals.

But the app has been frustrating.

1. It will crash even if I switch back over from another app

2. Some workouts videos are blank

3. Some workouts will be listed differently than the ones in the videos

4. My music will stop playing as soon as I open the app even after I switched it ‘on’ in the app settings

### 4/5 — 5+ star content, delivery needs improvement

*2022-07-11, version 1.27*

I’ve been using this app for daily workouts for about 4 months now. In my review I distinguish between the workout content and the technical delivery.

The content is the best I’ve found. Exceeds 5 stars. Eric’s workouts are challenging, diverse, flexible, educational, etc. Any superlative you can think of - the workouts have it. I especially like the mobility/recovery workouts and how there is a (different) workout for 6/7 days of the week. There were KB moves I was afraid to try but Eric has educational videos that breakdown the moves. I’m happy I got the yearly subscription.

The excellent content is handicapped by the app delivery. I see lots of room for improvement there:
1) Thus far, the monthly release updates have had various bugs - I don’t think there’s sufficient regression testing.
2) It should be easy to identify if a workout is a full follow-along or not.
3) The workout real-time displays should report progress with more granularity - e.g. workout 2/3 complete, rounds 1/4 complete.
4) full workout times should be accurate - they always say 60mins but many times it’s more like 45mins, sometimes even 30mins.
5) option to silence the app’s music, so it doesn’t compete with one’s personal playlist choices.
6) Last point for this review, more engagement from the admins and Eric on the FB page.

### 3/5 — Almost amazing

*2022-06-27, version 1.27*

I’m almost in love with this app. Leija makes some of the most amazing workouts i’ve ever done. I am speaking specifically to the 8 Week simple savage course i’ve purchased. i love the workouts, but have paused the program for myself because i don’t like using the app for it. i wish there was an easier way to check out the whole workout without having to go through all the videos. I hate that i can’t use my own music and have to listen to tribal drums or whatever sound was chosen for each video accompaniment clip. The music choice isn’t awful but it’s repetitive. Realistically, i imagine a large percentage of people following along are doing so from their phones and it’s just not that optimized for the phone. i’d love 2 options- one where you watch every video, and one where you just have a timer built in and exercise/rep counts i can read and do myself. Click on the movements for tutorial clips if i need. Some of the sets go for 5-10 rounds, which is totally fine but having to keep the app open (can’t put it in my pocket and keep my spot/timing in the workout) the whole time and listen to the music and the “let’s go!” before each round really makes me not want to do the workout.

I say all this because I REALLY want to run these Leija programs and use the app, but as it stands now i’d rather just read through the workouts, write em down and do it myself.

### 3/5 — The App needs more attention to detail

*2022-06-23, version 1.27*

As the tital said, I've been using the app at home for over a year now and it needs a little more attention to detail, the main gripe I have is Eric seems to misscount some of the sets, meaning some exercises will be uneven, we will do 3 sets instead of 4 sets so one side will be uneven and we will have to replay the video to add a set to balance the sides out. Also there are still a few workouts thats don't include a video and the screen will be black while the timer is running which will lead the screen to shut off and we will have to stop the exercise to turn the screen on which is annoying to have to interrupt mid set like that. It also seems that Eric will do the same workouts as another month when he seems to be "busy" as in traveling or what not, some months he seems to skip adding anything new and falls back to previous months exercises which is kinda boring. It was said that he hired that strength and conditioning coach to come in and add to the workouts but that only seemed to last about a month and then went back to his regular exercises. I still really like using the workout as a guide to follow, incorporating some of Knees Over Toes Guy's techniques into Eric's workouts to work on mobility but I think it could be better for those that pay every month for a service.

### 2/5 — App glitchy

*2022-04-22, version 1.23*

The content is great but the app itself is janky and regularly develops bugs which regularly interrupts the flow of working out. T hey should put the content back on a website.

### 3/5 — Fix app please

*2022-04-19, version 1.23*

Workouts great. App crashes every time I switch between videos and have to restart workout

### 2/5 — A few things for the UX/UI

*2022-04-04, version 1.22*

First of all I am a huge fan of Eric. His workouts are amazing and are the quickest way to wreck your body(in a good way.) Now when it comes to the app I must say that I was very disappointed. Thank goodness that they allow for a 14 day trial because when I downloaded, it was very unclear what material is included in the initial “purchase” -it still had half of the programs which were still not available and then whenever I went to go do a work out in the workout section it still told me that I needed to purchase or sign up. I believe the quickest way to clear this up would be to either fully allow the individuals to be able to interact with the program or go ahead and have a section that says “start here” and within that have all of the free programs. Because it is very misleading to have a 14 day free trial, and still not allow much access within the app.

### 4/5 — Great content not so great app

*2022-04-04, version 1.22*

Content is amazing. Eric is an amazing trainer with very unique exercises, but the app is a little buggy and not the most user friendly which is only reason this app doesn’t get 5*

### 2/5 — Great exercise but......

*2022-03-04, version 1.22*

Purchased the 8 week program for something new and different for my workouts. The exercises were great and the workouts were awesome, when the app actually worked! The editing of the content is terrible and it needs a lot of work! The platform has very poor performance. The workouts don’t download very well on my iPad or phone. Sometimes there are no videos just a blank scene with a timer on it. As I said earlier the workouts are great and Eric does a good job, but everything else is very frustrating with the app! I would cautiously recommend this but be prepared to be frustrated.

### 4/5 — Great app and workouts

*2022-02-22, version 1.22*

I love having quality videos for the exercises. The workout la are top tier. The only thing that would make the app next level would be tha ability to record all your reps and sets along with Apple Watch intervention.

### 4/5 — Great for what it is

*2022-02-08, version 1.22*

This is a great app for a specific kind of athlete. Unfortunately it doesn’t work terribly well for me. I’m extremely short on time, so I need follow along videos. I don’t have time to grab my whiteboard and CrossFit clock, and keep track of sets and rounds. But if that’s what you’re looking for, than this is a great informational tool to help you program your workout. So I canceled my subscription until they come out with more follow along videos. At the same time, I have purchased a couple of his several week long video compilations, like the “8 week single kb”. Those are absolutely fantastic. I’m still using them and will continue to.

### 3/5 — Amazing workouts. Buggy app.

*2022-01-16, version 1.20*

I recently joined the Primal community to begin a new path through the 12-Week Primal program. So far I’m really enjoying the workouts plus all the helpful information Eric provides us.

With that being said, it’s been less than a week and the app keeps crashing randomly when I try to view the tutorials or just making it through the work sets. Maybe an update could fix the bugs?

### 2/5 — What happened to the quality?

*2021-12-03, version 1.19*

I’ve spent hundreds of dollars with Eric but don’t see it happening any longer. The app experience is crappy and is progressively getting worse. I can’t stream. I have to download first. I can’t download because it’s slow (wifi or cellular it doesn’t matter). I miss the days of a accessing the program on the website. It was much more reliable. And one last thing….MY PET PEEVE when it comes to workout programs, always always always triple check to make sure your video content matches your screen text matches your PDF instructions program. Arrrrg frustrating!!!

### 2/5 — Hate the update layout

*2021-10-14, version 1.17*

It was fine the way it was. Now I have to click on each individual part of the workout and it’s annoying. I may cancel...I hate it that much. Makes the workout very disjointed. Please fix it!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Hidden Paywalls

*2025-01-15, version 2.330.1*

1/2 of his programs are hidden behind extremely expensive paywalls after the monthly sub.

This follow alongs are pre-filmed clips compiled together to make an exercise.

These workouts also take 5-10 minutes to download

### 1/5 — Unfortunate disappointment

*2024-02-19, version 2.214.2*

Was looking forward to trying something different as my workouts were getting a bit stale. App crashes constantly. And mobility movements are somewhat complicated. My shoulder was killing me after one round of bench press

### 1/5 — Pay $150 for a program to have it not be accessible

*2024-01-11, version 2.214.2*

App was always just ok. Now I can’t even access the program I paid $150 for. What is the point of downloading each workout if I have to have internet to get it to work? Guess I’ll just do my own workout today and hope if gets fixed sometime soon.

### 1/5 — Unusably disjointed, glitchy, and blocked by paywalls

*2021-10-23, version 1.18*

Do not download this - the only I've never given a 1 star review and I wish I could give it zero. I am so disappointed because I love his kettlebell workouts on instagram and i saw the great reviews (from a year ago) for this app -- I've never seen an app this bad in my life, and I work in tech.
You could POSSIBLY enjoy the one non-paywall'd workout series if you could run this on a computer with multiple screens and have a printer for the PDF - but on your phone? It froze, restarted, redirected to the wrong menu at least 20 times just getting through the warm-ups (there is no total time listed for any session so hope you're not on a tight workout schedule) and then didn't realize i needed twin kettlebells until I played the first video.
There are daily workouts - well, 3, as I can't seem to scroll down even if the bottom one is half cut off. The volume is too low to hear and a majority of the videos don't even have explanations on move or form other than 'JOINT MOBILITY' randomly flashing on the bottom. The few comments you find on all videos and sections boil down to "I'm so confused" or "what happened to the old useful version of this app?"
The whole thing's beyond broken and I'm not sure what happened, but if they're trying to inspire anything primal beyond rage, they've got a lot of work to do.

### 1/5 — Rip-off

*2021-10-09, version 1.16*

This bloke wants £15 of your money to subscribe to this useless app AND then expects you to pay extra (£150 might I add) to access premium plans. Prey tell you throbber, what on earth is the subscription fee for? Just want me to give you £15 a month so you can take some shirtless selfies, then realise you’re going bald?

 Jog on, lofty.

 UNINSTALLED

### 1/5 — Content is 5* - App is 1*

*2020-09-06, version 1.8*

Videos and workouts are a premium and worth the cost. The app however is poor.

Videos don’t fit to a screen on an iPad.

No countdown to know when the time for a workout is up - so workout calls for 30 or 60 seconds or work, but there is a 45 second video that doesn’t indicate how much time is remaining or stop when you’ve hit the time.

Next workout doesn’t automatically begin. Why do you have to stop, swipe, click play to start the next workout - why can’t this auto start so there is a 5 or 10 seconds “break” instead of having to stop your workout entirely for every action.

If the above are fixed, it’s 100% worth the subscription - until then it’s just a great resource for workout content similar Instagram or YouTube.

—-update, I tried logging in on an iPad and a iPhone with the subscription, neither works and app is in a loop to log in. Tried deleting and starting from scratch and same issue. 1* and moving on sadly.

### 1/5 — Really Hard to See Daily Workout

*2020-06-19, version 1.5*

I love the content. Eric Leija is legit!

But this app is awful. It’s really hard to navigate. My biggest problem is that there’s no way to view the daily workout in a single place. You have to scroll through a bunch of videos to find out what the exercises is. I just want to be able to read what the workout is and not have to stare at my phone while working out.

### 1/5 — Just awful

*2020-06-13, version 1.4*

This app is just the worst. Not a big fan of the design (just clunky and counterintuitive) but the 8 week get shredded program is COMPLETELY different on the app than the website (sometimes different exercises, reps, etc.). Big fan of the workouts but for something I paid that much money for I’m wondering if there was that much care put into the website workouts in the first place. Disappointed...

### 2/5 — Not beginner friendly

*2024-08-01, version 2.214.2*

It comes with 5 programs you can access with the subscription- but the programs that you want are all additional $100,$150+

### 2/5 — Good when it functions

*2022-04-27, version 1.23*

Home screen constantly freezing. Submitted trouble ticket. No fix but to delete app and reinstall which doesn't fix issue. Paying for the subscription is a bummer when the app only works half the time. When the app works, it's great.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Fitness App

*2023-05-01, version 1.29*

Have used for almost a year and not disappointed with content.

### 5/5 — Potential for best app ever

*2023-03-10, version 1.29*

This app is actually great with so many dyanmic workouts and videos, tops most AI- generating workouts tbh. However, I would like to see the filter working well when i search. The exercises are categorized by equipment, and when i try to filter by muscle (abs for example), most of the time i get 0 results

### 5/5 — Best I’ve Ever Seen!

*2022-11-12, version 1.29*

I’m a 53 year old serious martial artist, fitness trainer with MS. Exercising like a maniac and kickboxing got me out of a wheelchair. Been working with Kettlebells and Combat Conditioning body weight, dumbbells, and bars for 22 years. There is literally NOBODY better than Eric Leija! This guy is the Jim’s Hendrix of exercise.

### 5/5 — Effective and fun!!

*2022-10-01, version 1.28*

I love Eric’s workouts! I followed him on instagram and did workouts on there before getting the app. I love the mobility work he does in the app - makes a big difference in my flexibility and lift-ability. His workouts are so innovative (never boring) and effective - down 3 pounds in a week since jumping back in post COVID.

### 5/5 — Truly Life Changing

*2022-08-17, version 1.27*

Eric’s content is unparalleled. Before Eric’s programs I was inconsistent and unorganized at the gym. With this app, I have an easy way to bring organization and consistency to my fitness routine. I started here in 2020 & It’s crazy to think about how my strength and general confidence in my physique/physical health have transformed since then.

Eric’s programs are fun so you want to come back consistently but still challenging so you’re making those gains!

Everything has a proper warmup so you can prep your body before and a cool down so you can recover strong. I really believe Eric’s programs are designed to keep you strong and healthy with an eye on consistency and longevity.

Some minor feedback:
-I wish I could play my own music with the videos
-sometimes Eric goes pretty fast between sets. I don’t always have time to get my bells or bands ready in time!
-some very minor editing hiccups

But these are so so minor & I can’t knock its rating because I think the content is that good.

Thanks Eric-hope you keep dropping more programs.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-08-01, version 1.27*

I love using this app and one of the best bang for your buck subscriptions. Tons of free workouts and advice and the programs are killer!

### 5/5 — Great opportunity to better yourself with the app

*2022-06-23, version 1.27*

Great programs and easy to follow along. I have bought two of the primal courses and it’s always challenging. Once you think you a have a movement mastered there is always another heavier kettle bell. I have picked up a bunch of great exercises and stretches I likely would of never been exposed to. If anyone wants a sample follow primal.swoledier on Instagram where eric leija post all kinds of free content that can be used to collage a workout. Thanks Eric for all the great free content and your incredible fitness programs on the app.

### 5/5 — Good app but…

*2022-01-21, version 1.21*

The workouts are great but I’m having issues with the app restarting every time I exit and come back to it. Also I purchased the new simple and savage but when I download the video I only get audio. I also can’t cast to my tv like I could the other videos.

### 5/5 — Doesn’t get any better

*2021-10-24, version 1.18*

The best.

### 5/5 — Worth it.

*2021-06-01, version 1.10*

The app is worthy of the content Eric puts out. Very satisfied.
