Lead sheets include melody, which these do not. This may not matter to many people, but for me it was a small disappointment and a false description. ### 4/5 — Where's the melody line? *2015-05-31* This is a very nice production from three top musicians that can be found on many records in my collection. And to get out the guitar and play along it is perfect. But then, I've been starting to learn the drums lately. So rather than have a full rhythm section I'd want to mute the drums and play along to a band, including someone playing the melody. But that's missing. Therefore in my view this is an app, that is perfect for a soloist, but could be expanded on by providing just one more track. I guess the title "Jazz Essentials" says it all. How often do you get to jam with jazz superstars? It's worth the money. I play bass but didn't bother muting the bass, I just solo or walk depending on what I feel like doing. Nothing will play or record so it is completely dead and I feel like I just got scammed out of my ten dollars. But the main reason for me, to buy these, was the record function.I didn’t need to put the playalongs on speaker and a second device to record myself. This was so great. I have a lot of music apps that work fine on this iPhone so it seems to be the apps themselves. I don't see any warning about hardware minimum requirements. So let me make it clear, that at any level of musicianship, this is an AMAZING practice/warmup tool! Just tuning your time to the click on a daily basis is a critical discipline for being a good listener while you perform. With this tool, I get that, but I can warm up with my virtual version of my friend Darek, with or without click, at each tempo and style. The last reviewer must have been confused by the titles of the songs in this app because these are undeniably the most important tunes for a jazz musician to know: Blues, Rhythm Changes, All the Things You Are, Autumn Leaves, Stella by Starlight and So What. They have been cleverly renamed, presumably to avoid copyright issues. I use this app when I teach jazz piano - beginning and intermediate improvisers NEED to know these songs.
