## What is eSail4VR?

Do you like Virtual Regatta? Whether you are a beginner or experienced player, casual or addictive gamer, eSail for Virtual Regatta, known as eSail4VR, offers you all the power of dedicated routing for the exclusive Virtual Regatta service. With eSail4VR, you can compete with the best players!

The routing algorithm considers all the specifics of the game to minimize penalties subject to sail changes, tacking and gybing. It also takes into account exclusion zones like the ZEA of the Vendée Globe.

When you open the app, you are automatically connected to your Virtual Regatta account. If you have several regattas in progress, select in the home page the one you want to work on. Without any manipulation or setting, you can instantly find your position in real time on the map. If a new weather file is available for the game, it is automatically downloaded at the app start.

Place a target on the screen and calculate a routing towards that target. Make several routings and compare them.

Once the routing is done, send the programmations orders to VR, they will be immediately integrated in the game, and your boat will follow the path of this new route (Premium subscription only). That's it!
Without a subscription, you have to manually transfer the bearing of each isochron segment in the Virtual Regatta programming function.

Only one watchword: instant. One credo: efficiency. Wherever you are, on the move, on public transport, in a waiting room, at the time of a new weather file, take out your cell phone or tablet and update your routing.

Icing on the cake, your Premium subscription is shared across your devices, your settings and routings are saved in the eSail4VR cloud and synchronized between all your devices: calculate a routing on your cell phone, it will immediately appear on your iPad, tablet, Windows PC or MacBook.

### 3/5 — Bug version Mac et support

D’abord, c’est étonnant qu’il n’y ai pas davantage d’avis. Bref l’application est plutôt efficace surtout si elle est doublée par l’app iPhone. Elle fait bien le boulot! En revanche, le support n’est pas toujours très réactif et s’autorise à ne pas répondre lorsque des problèmes sont signalés.  Enfin, il est impossible d’obtenir la dernière version Mac : on a beau recharger l’application sur le store la version reste la 1.51 au lieu de la 1.52 annoncée. Tout ceci est regrettable d’autant que certains utilisent les options payantes….

L’application bug sur Mac et iOS. Quand on lance l’application, souvent, l’app est figée avec aucune données chargés. Obligé de redémarrer le Mac ou iOS pour que l’application fonctionne à nouveau

It’s a good app and does do routing well. But (and it’s a big one) you won’t win using this app - usually doesn’t find the strongest winds, or doesn’t route that way. I just use it as a guide and then put my own turn points in VR.

Si vous êtes un adepte de Virtual Regatta, quelque soit la plateforme c’est le routeur qu’il faut avoir. Parramétrable a souhait, rapide et pertinent dans ses résultats il m’accompagne depuis plus de deux ans. Il est le seul vous permettant de suivre la météo en fonction de votre avancement, de simuler très facilement plusieurs routes, franchement c’est un must. Et que dire di confort de balancer les points de navigation automatiquement dans VR ? Le luxe … Merci aux développeurs (des pro dans la vrai vie ce qui explique sans doute cela).

Le routeur est bon, mais l’app plante à la fin de chaque routage. C’est littéralement à chaque fois. Utilisée sur différents iPhones. Il faut la redémarrer, et suite à cela il y a un deuxième bug lors de l’envoi des données à Virtual Regatta, qui lui se produit environ 1 fois sur 3, l’app n’arrive pas à recharger les données du routage.  Pour ce qui est de la qualité du routage, c’est très satisfaisant pour un joueur en ligne, avec un mode expert très ergonomique.

L’application est vraiment bien, le fait de pouvoir envoyer son routage directement dans virtual regatta c’est génial , par contre ces derniers temps (Vendée globe 2024 en cours), dès qu’on reçoit la mise à jour météo si on tente de lancer un routage tout de suite après, le départ du routage ne se fait pas à partir de la position du bateau mais d’une position complètement fantaisiste, il faut alors rebouter son telephone (iPhone) relancer l’appli et relancer le routage sans faire de point météo avant sinon ça plante de nouveau….c’est très fastidieux et énervant, je mettrais 5 étoiles et un meilleur commentaire si vous remédiez au problème.

Très pratique et efficace si bien utilisé. Juste une remarque : est-il possible que la couleur rouge utilisée pour indiquer le cap lorsque le vent vient de bâbord soit plus lisible sur le fond noir ? Merci.

Très bonne application, le problème c'est les nombreux "bugs" de l'application et qui vous pousse à tout recommencer.  Cela vous plante 3 fois sur 5.  Et je ne parle pas de certaines anomalies, comme le jour ou après avoir fait mon routage et envoyé la transmission, j'ai fais confiance car j'étais pris par le temps du fait que j'étais au boulot, résultat quand je me suis connecté quelques heures plus tard, mon bateau avait carrément fait demi tour pendant 1 heure 1/2.......et puis surtout en ce qui me concerne, les trajets programmés ne sont pas  respecté rigoureusement depuis la dernière mise à jour de l'application, franchement on paye 15 euros mais il y a trop de dis fonctionnent.......
