## Newest reviews (15 of 66)

### 3/5 — Clunky and frustrating

*2024-12-19, version 7.18.1*

For me it works but to change any of the timer settings is really annoying in that I cannot change the temperature and have to delete timing slots and then reprogram. It takes ages. Just wish the thermostats were controllable with Google Home because this app is a nightmare.

### 1/5 — Does not work! Useless!!!

*2024-12-07, version 7.16.1*

App wont connect to the wifi, didn’t even get as far as pairing with the boiler/thermostat as the wifi extender does not work. Total waste of money and not fit for purpose. Wish I looked up reviews before paying extra as an add on for our new boiler. Avoid at all costs.

### 1/5 — Still doesn’t sync

*2024-12-06, version 7.16.1*

App won’t connect to thermostats still. Pointless. Heating is all over the shot even after manually setting on thermostats. Buy another wireless thermostat rather than this rubbish

### 1/5 — Awful shouldn’t be allowed

*2024-11-30, version 7.10.1*

I add my device … it says device configured with a big green tick… then nothing.. no device listed, no functionality…

Utter disgrace, clearly just want the cash and couldn’t care less about happy customers

Avoid esi products like the plague they are awful
And customer support is plain unhelpful

### 1/5 — Does not sync to phone or link!!

*2024-11-28*

Called ESi who basically said speak to internet provider. It’s the app and how poorly it syncs and works not the broadband. Waste of time and unable to use the smart features. Buy something else rather than this waste of time!

### 1/5 — App Doesn't Work - UNABLE TO USE

*2024-11-26, version 7.10.1*

The new upgrade doesn't work & it's a total Crash.

My existing thermostats in the app were gone after the update.
And the app is not picking up the thermostats while attempting to re-add them.
The new firmware which is associated with the new app upgrade doesn't work.
When I click on the Thermostat, it automatically SHUTSDOWN.
The developer has to fix this asap.

### 1/5 — Unfit for purpose

*2024-11-09, version 7.9.1*

This app simply will not connect to our network. It worked fine before they updated it. What makes matters worse is that our RTP5 thermostat has trouble telling the correct time when programmed. It’s so unreliable that we now control our thermostat manually.

### 1/5 — Awful Awful Awful

*2024-10-13, version 7.5.1*

Redesigned and worse than before. Should have asked a Year 11 student to design it and it would have come out better. Don’t these designs ever go through any sort of design review process? Well they should!

### 2/5 — Room for improvement

*2024-10-03, version 7.5.1*

The app is functional but clunky (smells like malicious compliance). Recent update showed some improvements in UI but has a major flaw. The app will now erase your heating schedule whenever you press certain buttons. Would be nice to have an option for exporting/importing settings. Some research into user experience is needed

### 1/5 — Not good enough

*2024-09-12, version 7.1.1*

For somebody who had no choice but to have this app, I’m a disappointed. The amount of times it’s reset my temperature timing schedule and I have to redo it because my house is cold.

Not only that, the new interface is horrendous! Keeps logging me out, to use it is more complex, yes it looks visually more appealing and modernised, which is needed, but not at the cost of ease of use. Not really too pleased overall

### 1/5 — Needs Improvement

*2024-09-10, version 7.1.1*

Need to login each time I want to use the app, this was not the case on the old version. Please fix this

### 1/5 — Useless

*2024-03-29, version 6.0.7*

Does NOT work, never has

### 1/5 — Poor

*2024-02-28*

Hard to believe anyone could produce an App/Interface as poor as this. The Room temperature will not update - except by chance (seemingly) - so you don’t know the actual temperature. The User Interface design is appalling and simple operations are not simple - this is in part due to the colour scheme and layout. Which part of the setting you’re on is often wrong and the day reported is often the day ahead. You also have no idea whether the Boiler is actually on or off!

### 1/5 — Appalling

*2024-02-01, version 6.0.7*

I had the wifi thermostat as an option in my new build, really wish I hadn’t chosen it! The app is awful, once it actually connected it said to install a firmware update for my thermostat. It has been stuck on this update for 5 days, the app and thermostat buttons no longer respond, so I can’t reset them. I’m now stuck with no heating. ESI phone lines are permanently busy and my developer is just ordering the same thermostat, which will probably do the same thing. Looks like I will have to pay out for an alternative brand that actually works!

### 1/5 — Shockingly poor, basic and broken

*2024-01-21*

I'm not sure why ESI bothered to add WiFi to their products if this is the best that they can do for an app.

Bare bones, barely works and sometimes not at all, can't even rename devices so it's impossible to tell what you are controlling.

Who signed this off, who at ESI is happy with this??

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Connect

*2026-07-06, version 7.29.1*

It is such a pain to get everything to connect, once it’s sorted it’s great, untill a June update, no connection, phone app can’t even find the thermostat, absolute nightmare

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect

*2026-06-23, version 7.23.8*

No longer connecting after app update. Real shame.

### 1/5 — Shockingly poor, basic and broken

*2025-11-18, version 7.21.7*

### 1/5 — Reasonably poor

*2025-11-03, version 7.21.7*

If the setup needs permissions (I’ve just provided it with the information it says it needs access to manually, but it refuses to use it) then why not either ask for it at the outset, or lead the user to the setting required. Much more difficult to use than it needs to be.

### 1/5 — So difficult to set up

*2025-10-28, version 7.21.7*

I had a Hive before and it took about 15 mins to set up and get working. This setup of an ERTP4 controller and WiFi hub requires the invocation of dark spirits to get working. I followed the instructions religiously to add devices to the app and I could not get it to work. Watched YouTube vids and read instructions from product web site. Gave up and called the plumber who had installed it and he asked around. I eventually went back into the app and it had suddenly started working! Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the device and had similar issues getting it working again. I now have 2 devices for each device and cannot delete the offline ones without deleting the working ones. I am going to limp along with both as I’m not going through the pain again!

### 1/5 — GHz 2.4 only

*2025-03-24, version 7.18.1*

Will not connect to WiFi

### 1/5 — Awful awful awful

*2025-02-03, version 7.18.1*

What a god-awful product this is. Two thermostats installed as part of a new build. Incredibly rare if one/either link into the app, setup is a horrific experience. No support helpline. No way other than email to complain. I cannot wait to rip this out and replace it with something that works.

### 1/5 — Update No Good

*2024-12-28, version 7.18.1*

The last update has made the app worse than previously… by clicking on certain things it changes the timings so heating too high low or on at wrong times absolutely useless if no improvement will change to something that actually works

### 1/5 — Shockingly poor, basic and broken

### 1/5 — Terrible software

*2024-12-25, version 7.18.1*

This is one of the worst programs I’ve had to use. Setting a schedule for your heating is clunky and frustratingly resets itself frequently. Having to constantly check is a pain. I’m looking to see if I can change to a different system. This one is rubbish. Avoid if you can

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Quick and simple

*2025-10-08, version 7.21.7*

Works perfectly fine. Can schedule date and time to set the thermostat.

### 5/5 — Working great

*2021-04-17, version 6.0.5*

Great app 👍🏼

### 5/5 — Fixed!

*2020-12-07, version 6.0.2*

Speedy app update to resolve problem with the app. Great customer service. I can again use the great product that I bought

### 5/5 — Not sure why all the other reviews are so old?!

*2020-12-05, version 6.0.1*

App and thermostat work together very well, all functions seem to work as expected. The only thing that annoys me is that you have to press 2 options to take you into the control screen, maybe have an option for a default one which is part of the Home Screen? Otherwise I’m very happy with it.

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2020-01-23, version 5.3.8*

Work perfectly on my iPhone XS

### 4/5 — Works great once connected.

*2025-12-23, version 7.21.7*

OK, so to have to turn off 5ghz WiFi, turn off cell service on phone, say a magic chant, stand on head and juggle with your eyes closed seems a bit extreme, but once the app and thermostat were all connected it works really well! But seriously, the WiFi and cell service did need turning off, but once everything was connected the app itself if really quite good, and I’ve used Hive for years before that. Integration with Alexa also works really well, and even turning off or rebooting the WiFi (and, yes, you can turn on 5ghz once everything is connected the first time), causes no subsequent problems when everything has restarted. Pleasantly surprised!

### 4/5 — Frustrating setup

*2025-03-15, version 7.18.1*

Took me a while to connect with my thermostat because the instructions didn’t match completely.

There’s a little WiFi indicator on the thermostat to indicate if it’s connected to the hub. I was waiting for the blinking to stop and pressing all day, holiday and plus multiple times even though it was already connected.

The other issue was on my Virgin router I had to go into router settings and turn off 5Ghz mode in order for my phone to setup the hub on the wifi network. Which I think a lot of people would struggle with.

Other than that seems to be working fine now. Big improvement for a fraction of the cost of Hive.

### 4/5 — Decent app, please keep adding quality of life features

*2025-02-10, version 7.18.1*

Only had one hiccup to start with where the request to access WiFi options was not being triggered and as a result set up got stuck. Re-installed the app and it was ok second time.

Would love to have the option for a 15/30 minute boost on heating 👍

Please keep taking feedback and adding simple improvements like that.

Otherwise the basic functionality is generally good.

### 4/5 — Been good till now

*2024-11-14, version 7.10.1*

As per the title, but tonight, heating did not come on. Found out that the upstairs thermostat on the app had added 2 extra intervals and lowered all the temperatures. For now, I have amended 4 intervals but can’t get rid of the other two. I’ve done the update and still got 6 intervals. No way of deleting unwanted intervals.

### 4/5 — Its works

*2022-11-18, version 6.0.7*

Plain and simple app, turns the heating on/off, can program schedules, it has never failed to work remotely.

Suggestion, i would like the ability to be able to rename my thermostats upstairs/ downstairs, as they are both named ERSTP5W (model number maybe) and theres no way to differentiate between the 2.

Thanks
