### 2/5 — Awkward with Duolingo

*2023-04-30, version 1.0*

If you are learning Esperanto through Duolingo you need this keyboard. Diacriticals (especially ĉĝŝŭ) are important, they change word sounds and meanings, and they are absent from built-in mobile keyboards.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work integrate with other apps. After submitting a phrase in Duolingo the keyboard enlarges itself, extending offscreen, thus becoming unusable. I’ve found that by switching between various keyboards several times that it resets - but who has the patience for that, especially when doing timed challenges.

Apart from this fatal bug it is a bit clunky in format but OK. Good idea, flawed execution. Maybe this could be resolved with a simple update.

### 2/5 — Pleased to have found this but …

*2023-03-17, version 1.0*

When I use the keyboard to type input it will work okay but then the keyboard increases in size such that I can only see two or three letters. Very frustrating. I have to use another keyboard to complete the text when I return it *sometimes* has gone back to normal. I’m using an iPhone 14; just the same in my older iPhone. I have deleted the entire app and reinstalled it. Just the same. I’d love a fix please, particularly as it hasn’t been mentioned hitherto in the reviews. Unable to contact the developers direst so I’d appreciate an acknowledgment.

### 2/5 — Bug

*2023-03-13*

Parfois, on écrit un mot, puis lorsque l’on pèse sur espace, le mot tapé est remplacé par un autre !!!!
Il faut donc bien se relire.

### 3/5 — Necessity is the mother of invention, but not yet.

*2022-11-22, version 1.0*

As others have stated, this is pretty much one of your only options for an iOS Esperanto keyboard. Plenty of bugs, lots of words missing from the auto-correct dictionary. If your keyboard gets stuck (mine usually freezes into the top left corner, and won’t give me access to any letters below the second row), try quickly tapping through keyboard languages (I also have spanish and german keyboards set up, but I figure it would work with just two). I really hope the app develops improve the app - I need it for Duolingo.

### 3/5 — Frustrating sometimes

*2022-08-23, version 1.0*

There’s a bug that the keyboard gets bigger every few minutes.. and i’ll have to wait for sometimes for it go go back to normal size.. i wish i can send screenshot here but seems like i cant on Appstore review

### 3/5 — Great but needs a bug fix

*2021-12-02, version 1.0*

I appreciate the keyboard, nice and simple layout but a bug makes it close to unusable.

When I switch to the keyboard, it is sometimes zoomed in and will have to shuffle between English and Esperanto just to make it go back to normal size.

### 2/5 — Et la reconnaissance vocale ?

*2021-11-22, version 1.0*

Très bien pour les accents, moyen pour l’écriture prédictive et carrément pas de reconnaissance vocale.
Donc fait le job a minima.

### 3/5 — Auto correct needs some serious work

*2021-06-16, version 1.0*

The keyboard works fine, I do need to get used to the space being further left from where I’m used to it being, but it’s fine. My problem is with the auto correct. Certain BASIC words aren’t recognized, like Ĉu. That’s one of the most basic words. The dictionary for that needs to be updated, maybe use user input for help with that, but that’s mainly my only complaint.

### 2/5 — Unsatisfactory

*2021-06-12, version 1.0*

This keyboard skips letters unpredictably, and randomly capitalizes the first few letters of a sentence. It also doesn’t switch from default to Esperanto keyboard with any reliability. Too bad the nice keyboard I was using previously is not supported on the latest iOS/iPadOS versions.

### 3/5 — Please update

*2021-02-23, version 1.0*

Please update soon. It still feels really beta, has some glitches (it zooms in keyboard randomly) and make the Graphic User Interface much smoother please as smooth as normal iOS keyboard as soon as possible. Thanks. Dankon multe. 👍🏻

### 3/5 — Useful keyboard

*2021-02-22, version 1.0*

However some word endings (past, future, etc. tenses) are not recognised and autocorrect. Same with some prepositions.

Both diacritics are supported by typing the letter and then afterwards hitting the circumflex mark, even for the breve (ŭ).

### 4/5 — It is pretty good

*2021-02-21, version 1.0*

My problem is that the keyboard looks a bit funny and small.

### 2/5 — It’s not good, but it works.

*2021-02-09, version 1.0*

First of all, the app is partially in Esperanto, and partially in English, and it’s annoying to navigate if you are a learner and don’t know much about Esperanto. Plus the actual keyboard is not that good, because it seems like they just looked at a dictionary, and used those words. It doesn’t have any present tense or past tense, just the infinitives. I’d have this at a 1-star rating if it wasn’t the only app out there that does this.

### 3/5 — Bona....

*2021-01-24*

sed mi ne scias kiel malŝalti la sonojn kaj tio estas iomete frustra! 😩

### 2/5 — The keys are too small

*2021-01-23, version 1.0*

I’m glad this keyboard exists and it has some cool features (like swipe) but the keys are too small. Either that, or the just don’t work when you press them sometimes. I often, very often, almost every word, find myself having to correct my typing. Extremely frustrating. It has been this way for years, I hope it gets fixed

### 2/5 — Atop all of the other critical reviews...

*2020-12-31, version 1.0*

Why do I get the following warning—

“Full access allows the developer of this keyboard to transmit anything you type, including things you have previously typed with this keyboard. This could include sensitive information such as your credit card number or street address.”

—from my iOS device when I attempt to allow this app Full Access to my device? More than the prospect of in-app purchases, THIS makes me unwilling to use this app.

Can the developer explain (and justify) this in such a way that I might be willing to use the app?

### 3/5 — It's alright

*2020-11-02, version 1.0*

This is pretty much the only Esperanto keyboard available right now, so of course I had to try it out, since I’m learning Esperanto. It’s a little rough around the edges-- it can skip letters from time to time and all the punctuation snaps to the previous letter, which can be annoying —but it’s quite effective. I do like how it uses the QWERTY format (and a few others), how you can change from a light theme to a dark theme without opening the app itself, and how there’s that little key that lets you add an accent mark to the last typed character. That being said, it could use some polishing.

Overall 3/5. It’s clunky, but it gets the job done.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Does not work on iPad

*2023-11-08, version 1.0*

Title

### 1/5 — 画面が見切れて操作できなくなる

*2023-07-09, version 1.0*

La klavaro por Esperanto havas problemon, ke la ekrano pligrandiĝas kaj ne povas funkcii.

### 1/5 — Loud click

*2022-02-22, version 1.0*

I use earbuds to hear Duolingo but this, the only available keyboard has such a painfully loud click with each letter typed that I will have to delete it and Duolingo both if I cannot find a way to silence the keyboard and still hear the dictation.

I preferred the keyboard with all letters visible instead of stopping to hold a key and wait for a menu.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time with this

*2021-10-24, version 1.0*

It was a good app, but with updates to the phone it no longer functions properly. The keyboard will zoom in so only three letters are visible. There is no way to make it work without completely shutting down the phone and rebooting. Every time. Devs please fix. This could easily be the best

### 1/5 — Awful

*2021-10-19, version 1.0*

Overwhelming amount of severe bugs. Questionable in terms of security and privacy. I’ll stick with x notation.

### 1/5 — Very Buggy

*2021-10-12, version 1.0*

Autocorrect is terrible. The keyboard has a bug where it doesn’t size correctly to the screen. Unusable.

### 1/5 — Developer has access to private info

*2021-07-25, version 1.0*

Beware: According to the Third-Party keyboard access policy, this developer would have access to all of your typed information and computer information including bank account numbers and credit card information. According to the description of this App, the developer has not provided specific information about the privacy settings for this App. I received a warning from Apple’s iPad security. So, although I installed this App, I am now going to delete it.

### 1/5 — Please let me turn off auto correct

*2021-07-09, version 1.0*

Please

### 1/5 — Outdated and sadly won’t improve.

*2021-05-01, version 1.0*

If you want a keyboard in Esperanto this is not the one, it is heavily outdated and since the developers seem to be out of busyness it’s not going to improve in any way anymore.

### 1/5 — The only option is terrible

*2021-01-28, version 1.0*

The app is awful in everyway.

I have honestly switched to using the x method (ĝis=gxis). It’s faster and the English keyboard doesn’t glitch out.

Problems:
-Glitches when using the searchbar from home screen (easily 90% of the time), and when switching between keyboards.
-Swipe feature is useless.
-Autocorrect strikes very randomly.
-Cap italization gets stuck and caps letters
-any punctuation mark is snapped to the last letter, even parentheses and ampersands.
-Sometimes freezes and doesn’t sense taps.
-Locks up when I type fast, still clicks but doesnt type.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Has Improved Greatly

*2024-07-07, version 1.0*

Having read through many of the other reviews, it seems like many of the reviews here were from several years ago when this app may have still been finding its feet. That being said, the app as it is now is actually really great nowadays. The swipe text works like a charm, and the word suggestion works great most of the time. The built in dictionary lacks many of the forms of the plural, accusative, and both. However, these are easily added and easily used once added. Considering the relative obscurity of Esperanto, this keyboard is a much needed boon to Esperantujo.

### 5/5 — Mr. lesang why there is no Kurdish keyboard

*2022-12-19, version 1.0*

Mr. lesang why there is no Kurdish keyboard

### 5/5 — Best keyboard

*2020-08-07, version 1.0*

This is the best and best easiest keyboard to type in esperanto ever. I wish they had it also for my droid.

### 5/5 — Bonan

*2020-04-18, version 1.0*

Tre bonan kaj tre facile! Estos bone meti la same argodoj de la telefono Aŭjfone (iphone) mi dankos

### 5/5 — Great Esperanto keyboard

*2020-04-05, version 1.0*

The best app for esperanto keyboard.

### 5/5 — It’s... Okay

*2019-12-17, version 1.0*

It glitches when I want to post a tweet.

I’d like it got a better dictionary.

### 5/5 — Predictive text in Esperanto!

*2019-11-01, version 1.0*

Yes the keyboard works great and has swiping with predictive text which makes using Esperanto a breeze!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2019-04-03, version 1.0*

A very good app. All I had to do was go to settings and add it. Minimal effort and works almost perfectly. Only thing it needs is to fix where sometimes the keys lag a bit when I type quickly.

### 5/5 — Great for every Esperantisto!

*2016-05-18, version 1.0*

This keyboard is very well laid out and has the basic functions you'd come to expect from any proper keyboard. It's full qwerty layout (common American layout) makes it easy to seamlessly switch between typing English and Esperanto. The added circumflex (^) key is very handy for quick typing, as one only needs to tap it after the appropriate letter in order to apply the circumflex, i.e. c -> ĉ. It is also great for those who dislike using the "x-system" for denoting the circumflex (like me). As necessary as it may be in many other applications, it eliminates the need wholly on iOS. It is light, comfortable (if a little odd to get used to after the default keyboard), and extremely useful when typing Esperanto.

Duolingo users take note! The app will switch between your default and this Esperanto keyboard as needed! Ain't it cool?

### 4/5 — Good

*2021-10-06, version 1.0*

Good but you could update it and make it look like another iOS keyboard. It’s way too different from the other keyboards.

But it’s good.
