I’m on IPad Pro the sample editor is really fiddly if you’re struggling use two fingers one above and then another gesture with one to the right. Use two fingers to scroll through samples in sample library. Took me ages to work this out. ### 3/5 — Great app but a few bugs *2026-02-20, version 2.0.10* This is a really good app and I like it a lot but at the moment there are a few bugs which make it really awkward to use. The main one for me is in the sample library that I cannot scroll through my samples I can scroll through folders but when I open a folder, it kind of freezes and won’t let me scroll through my samples making it very hard to use. There are also some glitches sometimes on the when using sample editor that waveform doesn’t match what’s being edited. I hope these will get sorted soon and then it will be an amazing app. I am using it on the iPad Pro. ### 4/5 — I found a bug *2026-02-15, version 2.0.10* when using the search feature, the application treats letters assigned to pads as triggers, which makes it impossible to type letters from a to z. Additionally, on the iPhone 13 mini the notch slightly covers some interface buttons. ### 3/5 — I want to love this app, but still some shortcomings *2026-01-22* I really like all the new menu additions to this app compared to the original machine; multi chop, internal EQs and filters would have been a dream to have on the hardware versions. This app keeps falling short from minor bugs that simply make me have to abandon a working project and scrap everything. Any time I’m in the sound library to load sounds, somehow the screen zooms in where I can only see and access pads 2 to 7, and I can no longer see or access the rest of the user interface. This has also happened with the text keyboard popping up on accident to rename a sample and I have to totally close the app and start fresh again. If there was a way to recover the last unsaved state of a project, it would be a lifesaver. Another addition that would help this app tremendously would be having the step sequencer like the OG machine for us that don’t want to live on the grid so we can have more control over programming (Tapping out on high resolution does not give the same effect). I’ll keep an eye out for more updates in hopes that I can finally really enjoy this app and get my money’s worth. ### 2/5 — was ok before the update *2025-12-23* Sound is distorded since last update fix it please. Ipad 10th gen ### 3/5 — Potential *2025-11-21, version 2.0.1* Definitely has potential, but has issues which prevent me from getting much use of it right now: I still can’t load samples from files, as the app doesn’t properly request permission for access to storage and instead directs me to a settings page that only exists on android. Also I’m not entirely sure why my phone needs to have silent mode turned off if ringer volume and media volume are separate. All other music and media apps work fine in silent mode. ### 5/5 — big up to low hiss the developer *2025-11-20, version 2.0.0* This update has really stepped up the eSPi app. Nothing is closer to the SP1200. All my other drum machine apps are now redundant. I m not new to this - I have supported Louis “LowHiss” from the very beginning and purchased his desktop app that has been buggy but improved somewhat in the last two years . There is also latency when playing the pads. Also the screen glitches for some settings when I attempt to customize the interface. I had high hopes for this app but it feels like the developer is not patient enough to bring this app to a polished state but instead is trying to make a quick profit with a half baked app. ### 1/5 — LOL a Fxxxxkn Joke *2022-02-04, version 1.0.8* I have both of these versions on my iPad and on my computer This app is weak and just wrong the developer should have waited to clear things up with the US to get the patent for the real machine However its probably best this way They made some quick money that’s all The software version on my computer Lets not even talk about that and they don’t have any YouTube video to show how to map midi devices with the software Its a good thing I don’t have money issues BUT for those lookn to create and make beats who are start up beat makers Don’t waste your time just spend your money on apps like Beat maker 3 instead you wont be sorry this is A total waste for seasoned producer who are familiar with the Real deal hardware that this is suppose to emulate 4 Thumb down ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Labor of Love *2026-07-23* This is really a labor of love. And gets you closest to having a 1200 without paying thousands of dollars. It’s years in the making and the developer is always working on the next update, slow but steady. If you spend any time with the app you can tell they put a lot of effort in the small details too. I bought the desktop version also to have it, and to support the developer. And what you get for the price is outstanding. But.. *2025-11-24* There are a few bugs I’ve come across. 1. The app won’t allow me to give permission to view files in the settings app, only permission to use microphone. I’m on iOS 17.6.1. 2. There’s a graphic bug when I want to use the app in landscape. It turns the iPhone SP1200 UI into the iPad SP1200 UI but it remains vertical. 3. Note repeats seems a tiny bit buggy. It now overlaps the sound rather than cutoff the sound and play it thru the note repeat like before the reconstruction update. An example would be like when I’m adding 1/16th hats over 1/8th hats, it makes the 1/8th hats sound louder because the note repeat is over lapping the sound. Maybe that is a bug. 4. There’s no gain, mixer and metronome sound knobs in the iPhone UI. It only appears when I tilt my phone in landscape and use the iPad UI and change it there. Hope this feedback helps.
