Please move the ad to the top or bottom of the screen. Do that, I’ll give you 5 stars ### 2/5 — FIX IT! *2026-04-24, version 1.7* Audio drops out multiple times a day, which is frustrating on its own—but it’s a dealbreaker on Alexa devices, where you can’t easily restart the stream. What should be a reliable, hands-free experience instead requires constant manual intervention just to work. In the past, the app has also started playing audio on its own without warning. Between the random playback and frequent cutouts, it’s hard to trust it at all. What’s most frustrating is that these issues aren’t new. This app has had reliability problems in various forms for years, despite being marketed as a “new” experience. This should be a basic expectation: stable playback that just works. Right now, it doesn’t. ### 2/5 — FIX IT! *2026-02-20, version 1.7* Audio constantly cuts out. It’s one thing when using the all in your phone and you have to start the stream manually again. But it makes it basically worthless when using it on an Alexa connected device. Before this little problem it would just start playing on its own not of nowhere. How much does it take to just make an app that just damn works? However, during live games it’s very frustrating and annoying when an ad plays outside of the commercial breaks. Several times an ad has interrupted the broadcast in the middle of goals! I have been in work meetings or my phone is sitting on the table and espn radio stars blaring! It’s very frustrating they need to fix that bug! The app is not on in the background and I clear it o my iPhone but it still turns on randomly. I can’t be the only one that this happens to. ### 2/5 — Mostly OK with some annoyances *2025-12-11, version 1.6* Mostly works fine when you’re listening to live radio. But it has recently started opening and playing live radio on its own at random times. This is in addition to the obnoxious Amazon PickUp add that is always there whenever you open the app and links you to the page at the slightest touch. ### 2/5 — Poorly done app *2025-07-24, version 1.6* This is an annoying app. You cannot save your place in a podcast, meaning that if you stop listening in the middle, the next time you want to listen to that podcast, it starts over again. I hope they are not part of more of the show or I’ll turn it off. Also the split screen is horrible. Let’s just watch it like normal people. Yes, I know this has nothing to do with the app, but the ESPN website doesn’t have a spot for reviews. ### 1/5 — Meh *2025-05-27, version 1.6* Listening to the app on the car and the cell signal drops for a short time the app doesn’t automatically continue when cell is restored. I have to chase the app in task manager and restart it. Why bother listening?? ### 3/5 — Love the content, app needs tweaks *2025-05-21, version 1.6* Let me just start by saying I love the app for its ability to connect me to all the local sports broadcasts (Knicks, Mets, etc). There’s a ton of content and it’s fairly straightforward to navigate. With that said, the way saved audio files autoplay is frustrating. They go in the order they were uploaded, so if I start listening to hour 1 of a show and it ends, the app will automatically load the last episode of yesterdays podcast instead of moving up to hour 2. Overall though, it’s not really detracting from the experience of the app. However, my second point is mainly where the -2 stars comes from. I’ve seen people talk about it on here in other reviews, and it doesn’t seem to want to get addressed for some reason, so hopefully if people keep bringing it up they’ll change it. My absolute biggest problem: the app will, at any point in time, at any moment, whether the app is open or closed, start playing the live 880AM broadcast. This occurs most often when I’m not even touching my phone, only to have it just randomly start playing the radio. I’ve had situations where the battery on my phone gets drained because I never opened the app, didn’t even use my phone for a few hours, but when I come back to my phone it’s been live-streaming the broadcast for 3+ hours on 0 volume, and my phones lost half its battery. It happens regularly, at least once a day, and there does not seem to be any way, either in the app or in apples settings, to turn this off. It is very irritating to wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of the app randomly broadcasting the live feed, or to have it start playing in the middle of a meeting at work. I’ve never had another app do something like this before.
