The link won’t open the app so all I get is Oooops! Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but same issue. Thought it was time to give it another try. Also it seems impossible to verify email. Sent email to customer service and got a reply telling me that their email address is no longer being used. I can’t believe that Esso aren’t aware of this. By the time it does you could have already paid for your petrol. It’s very slow to fire up and becomes very clunky and slow to respond when finding stations and taking payments. Also doesn’t auto email receipts like the last version. A real step backwards and it puts me off using Esso stations if I can avoid them. But the last 6 times I’ve tried, it has failed multiple times, not ideal when you are holding up a queue of cars or are alone at night and just wanting to get back in your car for safety. Having to chase up customer service to get points added. This carries on will delete app and just use Shell as I have had no issues with their app ### 1/5 — Problems *2026-07-20, version 6.1.166 (266)* Tried using this App a few times now, gave up in frustration, very slow and then refused payment, it’s quicker to fuel up as normal and go into pay, there is nothing wrong with my Apple Pay, will give it one more try if it’s still the same I’ll be deleting. Another failed attempt to use this App today, slow to load, bad layout of screen making it difficult to choose your pump, then payment not accepted using Apple Pay, whereas I don’t have any problems elsewhere using Apple Pay, customer service contacted with no reply, do yourselves a favour and avoid using this worthless App. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — App not working *2026-05-11, version 6.1.166 (266)* I’ve tried everything but the app does not work so buying petroleum from somewhere else now. Hopefully the dev has learnt to test any updates before release from now on after the chaos caused with payments failing after the last one. I selected £40 and the pump stopped at £37.09. Next time I selected £30 but the pump stopped at £27.55. Bizarre link pops up to down arcot.com. Often does not work at service stations and just goes into a frozen mode. Why oh why don’t web app developers try and use them to determine errors before roll out. Used to work very well. ### 3/5 — Disappointed *2026-03-08, version 6.1.166 (266)* I visited the Esso station this afternoon and had significant problems trying to pay for my fuel using the Esso Pay for Fuel app. I selected the pump, set the payment limit and authorised the transaction, but the app just displayed the spinning wheel with no further information or progress. After waiting with no result, I eventually had to cancel the transaction and go inside to pay in person. I did ask the cashier for help, but he simply said it was working and did not seem particularly interested in assisting. The whole point of using the app is to save time and avoid unnecessary delays, so this was very disappointing. Based on this experience, I think I will stick with Shell in future, as their app is usually quick, reliable and actually saves time. ### 2/5 — Less features, more issues *2026-09-07, version 6.1.166 (266)* This app used to be great!
