## What is ESTIMATE?

Engineering Site Tool for Immediate Metrics Across Terrains and Environments – Horizontal Construction (ESTIMATE - HC)
 
ESTIMATE - HC is a mobile calculation tool for Navy and Marine Corps horizontal construction estimation. It can estimate a wide array of vehicle and logistic metrics with minimal input required.
 
The app also features an augmented reality (AR) 3D model viewer mapped to physical space for estimating maintenance site layouts. The back-facing camera feed will be shown on the screen, and any point on the floor or ground can be tapped to place a model and view it in the real world. This feature works best on devices with a LiDAR camera.

All calculation information was derived from the lesson plan for the United States Marine Corps Production Estimations Engineer Equipment Chief course (revised April 26th 2021).

The “Compactor” and “Worker” models were downloaded from cgtrader.com and used under the “Royalty Free License” (revised November 5th 2020).

All other 3D models and graphic assets were either built into the Unity 3D game engine (version 2022 LTS), provided by the TextMeshPro package (version 3), or created internally by the CREATIVE Lab.
