### 3/5 — Pretty good app, but...

*2026-07-21, version 5.1.15*

I’ve had this app several years and like it for the most part. When I first got it, the phone could be turned horizontal and the print would be larger which is great for those with vision impairment, especially when airplayed on our large screen TV.
But after one of the updates it will only stay in vertical mode and it is much harder to see.

### 4/5 — Please bring Apple CarPlay

### 4/5 — Love it but can be improved

*2026-06-28, version 5.1.15*

I have been using this app for over a decade. It’s my go to Bible app. However, I wish I could use the language tools I have access to via the web version right in this app. Additionally, at some point a change was made to perhaps fetch the text as you scroll and that makes the scrolling feel a little odd. When that change was made the experience deteriorated. These are the two things that I constantly wish were better.

### 2/5 — Own nothing, rent everything

*2026-06-21, version 5.1.15*

You cannot purchase the premium books in this app. You must rent them with eternal subscription. The app has a beautiful reading layout, easy to navigate, and free for the bible alone. But there are dozens of similar free apps.

I would like to purchase the premium study materials. I am not willing to pay a subscription to continually “rent” a book. I’m opposed to the subscription philosophy so prevalent among developers. If they would like to keep making money, they can create new content.

If you want to own your books, Logos is still a good choice (though they very much prefer that you subscribe). Uninstalling.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2026-06-10, version 5.1.15*

We like the app very much love the ease of listening to the word of GOD and JESUS Old Testament has to come with the New Testament

### 5/5 — The Bible

*2026-06-07, version 5.1.15*

Amazing it is just awesome to be in the word on a device and to know it is accurate.

### 5/5 — Great app. One suggestion

*2026-06-05, version 5.1.15*

I absolutely love this app and use it all the time for audio and referencing the resources in the library. One suggestion I have would be to add a Home Screen widget for verse of the day.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No way to cancel subscription

*2026-07-28, version 5.1.15*

Will not allow me to cancel
The subscription

### 1/5 — Keeps losing its place…

*2026-07-23, version 5.1.15*

Every time you listen the audio moves on but the text doesn’t always follow.
When you stop and restart the audio returns to where the text was originally and mot the updated location.
It’s annoying and prevents reliable use of the app.
As someone who uses this function for …several hours… every day… this problem is the central reason for using Logos and Audible instead.

### 1/5 — Won’t let me log in

*2026-07-20, version 5.1.15*

I’ve tried to log in with my email but it always says there’s an error with my email please try again

### 1/5 — ESV Bible, read listen,Study, Reflect

*2026-07-15, version 5.1.15*

Corgi Mom
I do not like this format. I want simple, easy to find scripture. I want a Bible with a table of contents that shows all books of the Bible. On any given minute of time, I want to select any scripture OF MY CHOICE , read then choose any other at any time unrelated to what I read earlier.

### 1/5 — Paid Content on a Bible App

*2026-06-22, version 5.1.15*

Came back after a long hiatus to listen to Kristyn Getty read Roman’s 8. I had that chapter memorized at one point thank la to listening to her read it. Now it’s under a paywall as well as other content. Absolute greed. Deleting this app from my devices.

### 1/5 — Audio App is disappointing

*2026-05-21, version 5.1.15*

Two issues with the Audio make the ESV app a 1 star. You can only advance one verse rather than a chapter. Who advances a verse?? Also, what purpose is served by removing (from the original recording) the chapter number? For example, in The Psalms, the recording just moves from one psalm to another but the chapter number is excluded. Since we read and learn the Bible with chapter references, why take them out of the audio?

### 1/5 — Max font size too small

*2026-03-29, version 5.1.15*

I have a visual impairment and the maximum font size in settings is too small for me to be able to read it.

### 1/5 — Mad that my purchase is no longer valid

*2026-03-08, version 5.1.15*

I purchased the ESV study bible app years ago and now Crossways is updating and I have lost all access to the study bible. It keeps trying to get me to purchase a monthly plan to access it. Won’t be doing that since I’ve already paid and that wasn’t kept. Don’t waste your time with this.

### 1/5 — Finding the books in the Bible

*2026-02-27, version 5.1.15*

I have clicked on everything I could see, and cannot find a list of the books in the old and new Testament

### 1/5 — Not good

*2026-01-08, version 5.1.15*

Very misleading and will rip you off

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

God is good

### 5/5 — Undistracted and deep

*2026-07-29, version 5.1.15*

This bible app has a great smooth and focused reading experience with no distractions, and I love being able to highlight and note things as well as the references to other scriptures and the library resources. I am so thankful for this app.

### 5/5 — ESV Bible

*2026-07-20, version 5.1.15*

This Bible is so inspiring to me and I has really helped me to learn more about Christ and all the miracles that he has done

### 5/5 — Awesome App!

*2026-07-19, version 5.1.15*

Many good features!

### 5/5 — Great app, small suggestion

*2026-07-11, version 5.1.15*

Great app overall. The one thing missing that would be great is a Home Screen widget that allows you to choose a verse to display. I know they say you should never read only one verse without the context, but it would be nice to display a memory verse on my Home Screen so I see it all the time.

### 5/5 — Outstanding resource. Copy-paste could use a tweak.

*2026-07-10, version 5.1.15*

Outstanding resource. Use it almost every day. The fineness of its translation (I have worked extensively with Greek and can confirm, an MDiv and a ThM in exegetical theology). The search function is outstanding and simple. I use it often when knowing a verse but struggling to remember where it is found. Also just the look throughout is subtle and elegant to my eyes. It is crisp, easy and user-friendly.

I would personally reformat a couple very minor things for a regular user, like the copy-paste function which puts the verse reference first and even the non-inspired section title into the paste (why?) before pasting the words. It’d be much easier to simply paste the verse words, with reference on its tail, like this: “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). The current way makes it hard to copy-paste into texts for encouragement and social media. Every single time I copy-paste I have to edit it.

Aside from that, an outstanding resource. I use it almost every single day. “Forever, o Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” Psalm 119:89.

### 5/5 — Great Bible app

*2026-07-03, version 5.1.15*

Amazing app for Bible studying. Very clear, very easy, very powerful.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-06-14, version 5.1.15*

Well done! I’ve used many bible apps but this one really is classy, easy to use and has great built in features.
