## What is Etappe?

You plan the route. Etappe keeps an eye on everything that carries a date: the passport that runs out before you are home again, the dog’s rabies vaccination, the deworming window before the border, the inspection due on the motorhome. Made for people who drive themselves — motorhome, camper or car, often with a dog, and happy to continue on foot where the road ends.

Etappe won’t pick your route or book your campsite. It makes sure nothing expires while you do.

ALERTS THAT DO THE MATH
– Passports and ID documents checked against the end of the trip instead of against today, including the minimum validity the destination asks for
– Rabies vaccination and the deworming treatment window for dogs, worked out to the hour around your border crossing — so you know which morning you need to be at the vet
– Vehicle inspection (TÜV), motorway vignettes and documents for every vehicle
– ETA and visa checkpoints in the entry checklist of each trip
– Medication doses and overdue reminders, with a badge on the Alerts tab

PLANNING A TRIP
– A status for every trip, from “Considering” to “Under way”, so you always know where each one stands
– Sketch: the rough shape of a trip without fixed dates — sort the blocks, set day boundaries, create the entries later
– Research: save what you find, with address, price and phone number, then “Turn into” an accommodation, journey or activity

No account, no server, no tracking, no ads. Everything lives on your device; if you want it, your own private iCloud keeps iPhone and iPad in sync. Etappe doesn’t book anything and doesn’t recommend anything: no hotel offers, no flight search, no navigation and no route calculation. Just your plan, your deadlines, your trip.

ONE PURCHASE, NOT A SUBSCRIPTION
Etappe is free and fully usable for 14 days. After that, a one-time purchase of €9.99 unlocks the full version for good — no subscription, nothing that renews. In Switzerland the price is in Swiss francs. One purchase covers the whole family through Family Sharing. Even without buying it, you can still read, search and export your data.

HAVE A LOOK FIRST
Tap “View sample trip” the first time you open the app. “Tuscany with dog” is planned out in full, so you can walk through the planning, the calendar, the packing lists and the alerts without typing a thing. Delete it when you are ready for your own.

Etappe runs on iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 or later, in English, German and French.

Etappe now speaks English.

The whole app is translated: every screen, the alerts, the sample trip and the country records for all 38 countries. French is in this update as well. German remains the language Etappe was written in — you can change the app’s language in iOS Settings. What you entered yourself stays exactly as you wrote it.

ALSO NEW
– Country records written from an Austrian and a Swiss point of view, with their own embassies, emergency numbers and travel advice. Anything you edited yourself stays as it is.
– Place search in the location fields of activities, accommodations, journeys and research items: type a town or an address, tap a suggestion from Apple Maps, and the name, address and country are filled in for you. Only the search itself needs a connection; everything else in Etappe works offline as before.
– GPX import for journeys too, with the real timestamps from the file. With a connection, Etappe also enters the names and countries of the start and end points, and only into empty fields. If that country is not part of the trip yet, Etappe asks before adding it.
– The arrival time taken from a recorded route is now shown as local time, with the time zone offset.
– Choose your base currency: euro, franc, pound, krona and more. Costs, budget and totals appear in your currency; saved amounts keep their currency and rate. Etappe asks on first launch; you can change it in Settings.
– Exchange rates on request: “Refresh Rates” fetches the European Central Bank’s reference rates and applies them to your countries. Never automatically, never at launch.
– Home country from any country in the world. Embassies, emergency numbers and travel advice follow it; Etappe ships its own records for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Home country, home location, base currency and rates sync between your devices via iCloud.
– A day theme for every travel day: a heading such as “North coast”, entered in the Sketch, the calendar or Today. It also appears in the itinerary PDF and the calendar file.
– Duplicate a journey or create the return leg: press and hold a journey; the return leg swaps start and destination.
– The manual and the getting-started guide are now in English at etappe.app/en/.
