They would’ve been better off ditching the app altogether and telling users to just use the mobile website. This isn’t a native app, it is a web browser that can only browser one website. If Etax paid a consultant for this, I would urge them to get their money back. They’ve been taken for a ride. **Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts about the new app. We take feedback about the app experience seriously and are always working to improve. You're right that the update is more of a copy of the Etax website. We made the web and app experience more consistent, enabled biometric logins which is a big upgrade in convenience, and made the whole thing more secure, which is very important. Ultimately, we want to give our clients a choice - they can use the app, navigate to our website, or swap between the two (which many users do) and hopefully have a more seamless experience. I can’t access all my previous years, I can’t reply to an email properly in order to answer questions. Low and behold, it does not have a feature to upload your photos and or documents from your phone. It only accepts taking a photo directly from the app. The messaging part works fine but anything else is pretty useless. ### 1/5 — Can’t access camera roll for receipts *2019-07-14* Great idea to have this as an app however in this day and age where nothing is sent to us as a paper copy we are expected to take a photo of a hard copy as there is no option to access your camera roll to get the digital copies you have already screen shot. Terrible customer help online and customer service on the phone. Once I had paid (I paid before instead of getting them to take it out of my tax return), no one was interested in helping me with deductions. Didn’t answer my messages and didn’t add deductions I was claiming. The app somehow confirmed my rax return without me even looking at it. I’ve always found the accountant on the other end very diligent and thorough when trying to get the most back from paying tax. I think the app itself needs an upgrade into something slightly more Sophisticated. It would be really nice to have an option to upload a screenshot rather than just having the option to take a photo. I'd like to be able to upload existing photos and pdfs though. Often I get emailed a receipt so can't take a photo. It even has a feature for you to capture receipts or other important tax related documents and uploads directly to the Etax database (as you go). I don't have to worry about faded or misplaced receipts/ documents no more. Even though this app still needs many refinements but it's one of a kind in Australia that I've seen.
