## What is Eter?

Eter Radio is an app for listening to Internet radio stations. Eter Radio is available in a universal version for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and tvOS.

Eter Radio uses the publicly available radio-browser.info database, which contains a collection of free and publicly available Internet radio stations. You can also add any stream by URL.

Eter for iOS, iPadOS and macOS offers a hand-crafted list of recommended stations and the ability to search radio-browser.info for other radio stations. To be able to save favorite stations, you must unlock the program with a one-time In-App Purchase. (The price in the App Store may vary depending on the country and the local currency rate). Eter on tvOS and watchOS works as a companion app. If you've upgraded to Premium, you can play your favorites on these platforms too.

Curious what that song is? You can optionally use Shazam automatic song recognition to know what’s playing. (Available for all users.)

Eter is brilliant; logically built and laid out, elegant UI, and a portal to the largest treasure trove of stations and music I have ever seen — much, much larger than other apps. I have had internet radio stations’ own apps go slow, grind to a complete halt or simply stop working, but I can get to listen to them uninterrupted through Eter. It’s now the ONLY app I use for internet radio. This is how you build an app. Most highly recommended!

Ständig bricht das Netz ab...

**Developer response:** Eter nutzt die Internetverbindung, die auf Ihrem Gerät vorhanden ist und die der Radiosender bereitstellt. Die App verwaltet keine eigene Verbindung. Wenn die Verbindung also schlecht ist, sollte das kein Problem mit der App sein.  

Der einzige Fall, in dem die Verbindung kurzzeitig abbricht, ist beim Wechsel zwischen WLAN und Mobilfunkdaten auf dem Smartphone, da die App dann wieder mit dem Stream verbunden werden sollte.

I use this daily. It’s rock solid and extremely well designed and developed. Love it. Tons of live music stations from all genres to add to your favs list. They got shoegaze, rock, soul, classical, chill hop, jazz, indie, you name it!  One of my fav daily use Mac apps. Also has a cool little menu bar mini player. Recommended!

It just does what it says it does, extremely well. I use it to play my favorite radio stations and find new ones. UI is great, sound quality is great on high-quality feeds. Recently I’ve been using it on tvOS, which for me is hooked up to a pretty good amp/speaker system, and it’s a great way to listen to music. And in this day and age, it’s sometimes best to discover music through people (DJs) as opposed to just algorithms. One can also use AI to find radio stations that fit your interests, and import them to this app en masse. Keep up the great work!

Whoo hoo! After many requests, folders have arrived! You can now organize your stations however you like, by genre, by location, by language — it’s up to you. On iOS, drag and drop to create a group just like you would group apps on your phone’s Home Screen. You’ll see your new organization reflected wherever you use Eter, on your Mac, on your Apple TV, on your Watch (please admire the teeny tiny folder icon) and in CarPlay.

We’ve also added a Mute button in CarPlay for folks who cannot do that otherwise from their car’s controls.

Other changes include improved accessibility for low vision users and better song artwork handling (both in Player view and History view).
